What do you expect from new characters in BG2EE?

$

I've been having a blast with BGEE but I can't help but wonder what we'll get for the next game. There are some things I expect about new characters:

1) A single classed thief. Could be an elven assassin. Coule be evil, as well.
2) A romanceable gnome or halfling. All don't the shorties get any love?
3) A fighter/mage.

I imagine we'll only be getting #1, but dreaming is free. :D

Level 1 Hp for a Ranger Cleric

Hey Guys I just created a half elf Ranger Cleric with 18 Con and he started with 17 HP. This doesn't make sense at all as a level 1 fighter with 18 con only starts with 14 HP. Is this a bug or am I looking at this wrong? Thanks!

Loved this franchise for a long time, and since I recently started doing videos I figured I might as well film my journeys. Any feedback, requests on content to see (all 3 new NPCs recruited so far) and whatever you have to say is welcome. I am using some of the tweaks from Baldur's Gate Tweakpack made by Gibberling 3.

Hope you enjoy!

Opinion of Cleric/Rangers

Someone made a point of suggesting awhile back that a poll should be made on this. From what I can tell (I skimmed through about ten pages of the general section) no one ever did.

As it stands now Cleric/Ranger multiclass characters (and Ranger -> Cleric dual class characters) get access to upper level Druid exclusive spells (levels 4-7). They get this despite the fact that single class Rangers only get access to level 3 Druid spells. My question is, do you think this should be changed for BG:EE and BG:EE2?

You can find a discussion on the matter here already.

http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/2441/clericranger-in-bgee/p1

I just felt that given that it is a well known issue that a poll could provide a perspective on how the community feels about it. Feel free to talk about this issue on the previous discussion thread.

Shadow Keeper - CLUAConsole

So, will good ol' Shadow Keeper/Gate Keeper work with BG:EE?

I usually use it to change my characters appearance or race. Much easier than having to throw around those CLUAConsole commands, and searching all around the net for the right combinations and animation names.

Are the CLUAConsole commands even still the same?

The most ridiculous stats you have rolled for a Baldur's Gate character?

$

I remember my first full play through of Baldurs's Gate after three attempts I rolled some amazing stats for a Paladin. Which is easier to do on a Paladin because you always get the class requirement minimum ie you will have a min Charisma 17, but despite that I managed:

Strength: 18/00
Dexterity: 18
Constitution: 18
Intelligence: 11
Wisdom: 16
Charisma: 18

Which in turn meant that thanks to all the stat boosting tomes I imported into BGII looking like this:

Strength: 19
Dexterity: 19
Constitution: 19
Intelligence: 12
Wisdom: 18 (There were two wisdom boosting tomes if you know where to look!)
Charisma: 19

Question is what are the best stats you've managed to roll, and how long did it take you? I'd also be curious to know what are the crappiest stats anyone has managed to finish the game on?

Lvl 6 Ranged weapon proficiency for Edwin - Darts or Slings?

$

Edwin has just reached level 6 in my current BGEE game, so gets his extra profiency point, I'm undecided whether to give him darts or slings. Normally I would give a mage a sling, but I already have two sling users in my party - Montaron and Viconia, and no one who had proficiency in darts. Is it still worth giving Edwin a sling, or in this case would darts be a better choice? Darts = more APR = more chances to actually score a hit, but slings can potentially stack a launcher +x bonus with magic bullet +x bonus, though with both Monty and Viccy using slings, there won't be many spare magic slings going around... Opinions?

BTW Edwin has the 18 Dex gloves, so gets +2 to hit with ranged weapons.

EDIT: I'm also thinking perhaps it's a "waste" of the magic darts that you can find in the game not to have someone who can use these?

Should I just wait for BG2 Enhanced?

Hello All,

First let me start off that I am a HUGE fan of the Baldurs Gate Series and I am really excited to see a company try to work with the game that has entertained me for years on end. I have seen some of the video and screens and I like what they have done with the product and think it looks really smooth. Being a QA guy I understand the hardship of dealing with bugs so the issues being worked are not and will not be a concern as it's clear the devs care about this being great. I funny enough had just finished playing through a heavy modded version of BG1 when I found out this had been released and I wanted to know if it was really worth a buy.

The thing that is holding me up is whether I should just wait for BG2 Enhanced to be released so I can play everything together. Is there enough changed or updated in variety from the basic modded game to make it worth playing even if I must impatiently wait for the second game to be finished? I guess I am looking for a fans perspective on what makes this enhanced edition awesome from the original and what keeps them from just waiting for both to be available as a set.

Challenge: Solo Durlag's Tower as a Sorcerer from lvl. 1; possible or insanity?

I was thinking of doing something like this, but I'm unsure if it's possible.

In general, it should be allowed to get items on the way to the dungeon, but not to start the Nashkel mines questline.

I guess Algernon's cloak, a couple of scrolls, wands and the greenstone amulet is a must.

Possible spell picks:

1.
Magic missile, Sleep, Spook, Blindness, protection from evil (maybe find familiar?)

2.
Mirror image, Melf's acid arrows, knock, web (or glitterdust?)

3.
Melf's minute meteors, skull trap, haste (or slow/remove magic)

4.
Spider spawn, stoneskin, (maybe improved invisibility?)

Essential items:
Shield amulet, greenstone amulet, sandthief's ring, algernon's cloak, dagger of venom(?), ring of princes+1, evermemory, second sword arm, wand of fire/ice/paralyzation/fear/sleep, potion case...

Might use a fairy dragon familiar for the invisibility.

What do you think? Is this madness?

Clua Console in BG:EE?

Hello! I don't know wether I'm really bad at searching or not, but I cannot seem to understand how to get the CLUA Console to work. Which lines do I put in the baldur.ini, and which command in the game starts the console?

Thanks in advance!

Paladin dual-class and other unusual combinations

I have played BG many times before and so I am thinking about doing something unusual. I have started a game as an undead hunter (wanted to play a black guard after seeing Dorn in action when playing a different character, but then the undead hunter seemed interesting), but I am still thinking about giving the guy a twist.
As I have played the BG games many times already I have no problem with bending the rules (using shadowkeeper) a bit now, so... has anyone experience with e.g. a Paladin dualed to a thief? Or maybe to a sorcerer or something like that?
A Sorcerer/Kensai came to mind as well.
Also... I have already toyed around a bit and made my Undead Hunter an Elf instead of a human (got the idea when I noticed that Dorn should not be a Paladin). What still bothers me though is that he is Lawful Good as I would rather play as Neutral Good (seeing as lawful and good are two atributes that sometimes can come in conflict with eachother).

So, if you have any thoughts/tips/opinions/suggestions on these matters, I would appreciate them.

In my ongoing project to create a comprehensive BG1(EE) player resource, I'm about to begin assembling (and perhaps writing) guides for all the classes and kits. What I lack at this point is the full list of all possible dual-class creations that the vanilla BG:EE game allows. I'd greatly appreciate if folks could post such a list. Thanking you in advance for any help you can provide!

FYI, here's the list of all classes and kits. This is a work in progress, I'll have to test some of these out because there are alignment restrictions, etc.:

Is it feasible to use EVERY joinable NPC in one play-through?

$

The female Invoker star of my current play-through is an accommodating soul, willing to give a temporary home to every one of the Sword Coast's good, bad and ugly in her revolving door of carnage. Ideally I'd like to keep each member in long enough to see out a quest or three. Will it leave me with major problems in the endgame, though, if I've not really had any long-term members who I've carefully overseen the development of?

Why can't elves...

SO, the only other class I would probably like better than the "Cleric/Mage" would be a "Druid/Mage;" however the latter does not exist in-game, but i'm derailing...

Anywho, I have a question, and was wondering if anyone could give me an answer, because I have done a small amount of searching, and cannot find an answer to this: Why can't Elves multi=class their Clerics? Is there some sort of lore reason pertaining to this mystery? If anyone knows, I would love to know the answer, because it confounds the hell outta me XD

Baldurs Gate Heal/Hurt :D (ROUND 34 START!)

-IMPORTANT EDIT: THE CURRENT ROUND WILL BE DISPLAYED ON THE THREAD TITLE. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR VOTING IS CONSISTENT WITH THE CURRENT ROUND'S CONDITIONS.-

Okay so this has been done both on the Spellhold Studios forums and the Giant in the Playground forums in the past and both times, it was really cool and fun.

Okay, so basically, this is a game of Heal/Hurt with the Baldur's Gate characters.

The rules are simple--
Basically you vote for which character you want to heal and which character you want to hurt. Each vote counts as a +1 or -1 for that character. They all start with ten HP, but if healed they can go over 10. Once a character reaches zero, they die. The last one standing wins. Periodically, you will be asked to vote for characters to add to the roster, as we need to keep it at a manageable size so we can't start with all of them. The two characters with the most votes will be added. BG1, BG2:SoA and BG2: ToB are all fair game to draw characters from. The two with the most votes for that will be added. In certain rounds there may be special rules, which will be explained for that round. Once characters get enough heals, the slayer mode comes into play, which I will explain once it happens.
Each round lasts from several hours to a day, depending on the rate at which posts are made.

So, may the most awesome character win!

ROUND 1:

Our starting roster, since I am feeling too uncreative to hand-pick characters right now, will be the same as the starting roster for the Spellhold Studios game of Heal/Hurt (even if it is very...BG2. Remember, you can add BG1 characters as well with your votes.)

-Roster-
Character: ------------HP ------Change ----Slayer Mode?
Minsc-----------------10 --------------------- No
Boo ------------------10 --------------------- No
Jaheira -------------- 10 ----------------------No
Imoen ----------------10---------------------- No
Irenicus --------------10 -----------------------No
Ellesime --------------10----------------------- No
Melissan-------------- 10 ----------------------No
Lilarcor ---------------10 ----------------------No
Cernd ----------------10 -----------------------No
Aerie -----------------10 ----------------------No
Haer'Dalis -------------10----------------------- No
Nalia ------------------10---------------------- No
Anomen---------------- 10 ---------------------No
Saemon Havarian -------10 ---------------------No
Valgyar ----------------10---------------------- No
Viconia -----------------10 ---------------------No
Edwin -------------------10 ---------------------No

RULES FOR THIS ROUND:
-This round, you are allowed one heal, and one hurt.

-This round, you should vote for two characters you want to see enter the fray! (i.e., guys that aren't on the roster yet but you want them to be, either so you can heal them and watch them win, or so you can beat their asses into the ground with your hurts)

Just so everyone knows the voting format, I will start:

Heal: Imoen

Hurt: Ellesime

Vote: Xan, Alora

Did you know that party NPC's have different morale?

I just figured out this thing called Ctrl-m. I used it on my party and I finally had proof of what I always thought: some party member NPC's have better morale than others! Try it out some time to see who in YOUR party is the biggest chicken!

Monk class

Hello

So, i am interested in the class Monk, i like the type (fighting with fists) but the problem is he is too damn weak... for example with 18 constitution he has only 10 hp, gets killed very easily and deals no damage. Logically while he ca not equip any armor, he has to have huge armor or health naturally, but he has not, he is very very weak compared to others. I can't even understand his skill: Stunning blow, when i cast it, some green light appears and that's the end. I would like to hear your opinions about this class, or share your experience. Maybe he is strong if you play correctly?

Thanks

How many wild surges your mage can unleash?

Can you ever get too many wild surges? I guess you can not. I've just rolled a naive wild mage char and he got his very first wild surge. But his first fling with the weave was rather..weird, even for a wild mage, as you can see. I don't know how it happened but that surge was phenomenal. All of them worked, too. Shoal was silenced just after she gave her yielding dialogue, and still was able to raise my fallen companion and all. I have no idea why he did have such a...crazy surge spree but luckily none was disastrous. I play on ipad and insane difficulty if it helps..I hope his next surges won't be this..wild. Oh who am I kidding, I would love to see an area effect flesh to stone surge or spell cast twice gate opening surge and all other crazy combinations. :p
