iOS 8.3 Breaks iFunBox

FYI, do not upgrade to iOS 8.3 for it will break your ability to transfer games to and from your PC.

Is there a native way to xfer save games that Beamdog has produced yet? It is getting frustrating every time Apple blocks file exploration to lose this function. Perhaps zipping a save game and giving it a specific extension and emailing it to ourselves so that we can have BG:EE open it? (Like the way you can xfer images.)

Is Markustay Dead?

The man (Mark Taylor a.k.a. 'Markustay') who gave us this great map:
image
He has been uncharacteristically silent for over 21 weeks (as of 26/04/2015) on deviantART and I can find no trace of his activity anywhere else. I wanted to ask him a question for a sword coast map but I cannot find him.

Does anyone know if he is dead? (Or where to find him?)

Discussion of BG2EE Gameplay Ini Settings

Hi All,

I was recently browsing through the BG2:EE ini, and noticed quite a few settings which seemed quite interesting, but did a quick search and couldn't find what they do. I have listed some of them below, I appreciate that a couple of them may be quite obvious, but does anyone have any ideas?

'Game Options', 'Terrain Hugging', '0'

'Game Options', 'HP Over Head', '0'

Game Options', 'Extra Feedback', '0' [I remember in the original BG2 this option added a lot of extra description)

Game Options', 'All Learn Spell Info', '0',

'Multiplayer', 'Default Permissions', '00000001', (can this option be used to changed the default permissions for new players joining a multiplayer game?)

'Multiplayer', 'Pausing Dialog', '0', (I understand that this prevents some dialogues from pausing the game, e.g. with shopkeepers so that players can shop at the same time)

'Game Options', 'Render Actions', '0',

'Multiplayer', 'Disable Banters', '1', (I understand that this enables NPCs to conduct banters between themselves, in my multiplayer games NPCs regularly chat to Charname so it can't be that)

'Game Options', 'Render Travel Regions', '0',

'Mage Spells', 'SPWI605', '0' (no idea what this does)
)

Mage/Cleric - Splitting Spells

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know a way to split the spells of a mage/cleric to seperate buttons? Currently I'm finding it quite time consuming to have to scroll over to get to my mage spells. I know there's a button to switch between mage and cleric spells (I find it slightly disorientating), is there a way to seperate the mage and cleric spells entirely to seperate spellcasting buttons on the UI? (I should probably just get used to the switch button).

Time-saving thread. What do you do to save time in your games? I've developed a few habits over the course of playing BG2, without which the game would be unbearably slow:

1: Bathroom breaks during cutscenes, or pressing enter at the exact moment Irenicus starts talking

2: Custom auto-buffing spells, mapped to hotkeys

3: Memorizing dialogue pathways (3, 2, 1, 1)

4: CTRL-4 to check for traps

5: CTRL-Y on low-level enemies

6: CTRL-R instead of Raise Dead

7: CTRL-J, everywhere

Solo playthrough help/advice needed

Hey, I have BG:EE and IWD:EE and I'm considering solo'ing one or both of them (or making a duo run), and I'm wondering what classes would be easy to do that with. I remember in BG2/ToB that Sorc was good, especially since you exceeded the XP cap in SoA.

So far I've read that either Blackguard, Berserker og Barbarian should be easy to solo BG:EE with. As for IWD I've read that one of the druid kits is the way to go.

I might consider bringing Imoen in BG:EE and dual her to mage, just to have a little more interesting gameplay.

Custom PC & NPC Portraits

Building on the original thread, started by @Syntia13, this is intended to be a hub to share alternate, fan-made portraits for the enhanced editions of the series. In order to keep the thread running and make it a comprehensive source for portraits, please abide by the site rules and a few guidelines:

Thread Rules

1: Respect artists' creations and their right to them. If portrait-makers ask that you not edit their work, don't. If a mistake is made, simply edit your post to remove the image, apologize, forgive and forget.
2: Do not share images for which you have not received permission from the artists, when possible.* This is particularly true of art from DeviantArt, which hosts many artists who do not want their work shared elsewhere.
3: If you request that a portrait be made, recognize that the artists in this forum do this simply because they enjoy contributing to the community. Be patient, be respectful and say thank you.
4: Be supportive! Many of the artists here are just beginning to learn how to make portraits. Be positive and constructive in your comments, and avoid pointless negativity.
5: If you are making and posting portraits, state who you used as a model (if applicable), either here or on your website. Understand that this still does not make the likeness your property, and be prepared to remove the image if so requested by the copyright holder.

*Understandably, the source of some older portraits is unknown. If in doubt, go to Google Images and drag the portrait to the search bar. You may find the artist or source through that method. Again refer to Rule 1.

Guide to Using Custom Portraits

Portraits in the enhanced editions use three images in bitmap (.bmp) format, the largest of which is only shown during the epilogue in Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal. The three sizes are 210x330, 169x266 (displayed in the character sheet) and 54x84 (displayed on the right UI bar).*

To use custom portraits for your PC:
1: Navigate to your Baldur's Gate directory in (My) Documents.
2: Drop the custom portraits into the Portraits folder.
3: In the game, select Custom when choosing a portrait and select the medium and small sizes. Alternately, if you have already begun your game, select Customize/Appearance from the character sheet.

To use custom portraits for NPCs:
1: Rename the portrait files to match the NPC whose portraits you want to replace. For example, Jaheira's portraits are named JaheiraL, JaheiraM and JaheiraS. There are some portraits in BG1 that do not conform to this, and those in BG2 have their own naming format. Consult this site.
2: Place the portraits in your override folder, located in the directory where you installed the game.

*Note that after the latest patch, the games allow a single large portrait size to be automatically adjusted to the proper sizes. I currently do not recommend this, as it causes pixelation in the small 54x84 version.

If you like the portraits you see here or at any of the sites below, leave a comment here or on the artist's website. We love making portraits, and we love hearing how you connect to them through the game.

The Tale of Euphonia the Half-Elven Skald and her search for the Holy SCS No-Reload Grail

Although I had decided a few weeks back that I'd take a break after Glorydd, I found myself remarkably eager to roll a new character to wash away the foul taste in my mouth left by the Dwarf's death.

This character became Euphonia, Half-Elf Skald. Conceptually it's one of my favorite classes, but my performances with Skalds have been less than stellar. Euphonia's my fourth. Ocker the Dwarf fell to Shoal's (ranged!) kiss of death, Nereniel the solo Skald died against Drasus & co, and an undocumented, non-optimized Skald was drowned by a Water Weird. So I'd say expect little, and who knows she might surprise you all ;)
image
As you can see I got a very nice roll and went with optimized stats, because I think I may need every benefit I can get. Euphonia will journey with (like-minded) companions; besides her kit a second aspect of this playthrough that doesn't bode well for Euphonia hehe.

As always, I play with Rogue Rebalancing, the implications of which can be learnt here: http://readme.spellholdstudios.net/rr_core.html#Bard_kit_revisions.

Euphonia started her adventure with a Wolfskin Bag to store items in, and with a Pseudo-Dragon Familiar, Fluister. Fluister, encouraged by Euphonia's song and Swashbuckler Imoen's arrows was instrumental in the girls' first careful steps toward Sword Coast heroism. In the Red Canyons for example, it knocked a Wolf unconscious (allowing the girls to save Melicamp and seeing him restored by Thalantyr), and it even slew a Dread Wolf.
imageimage
In Nashkel the familiar tanked a Baby Wyvern and killed an assassin who was after Euphonia.
imageimage
At the Friendly Arm Inn Fluister made Tarnesh pay for injuring Euphonia and Imoen, with his life.
imageimage
And near the High Hedge it knocked out various Gnolls for the girls.
image
This is not to say that the girls didn't do any hard work themselves. They slew a rogue Ogre, four Huge Spiders, and two Ogrillons themselves.
imageimageimage
At the Nashkel Carnival, Euph and Imo pawned an enchanted Ring they'd found at the FAI. This transaction, artifiaclly high Charisma, and a heroic reputation allowed the girls to purchase the Fragment of Enlightenment Ioun Stone (+20 Lore) for the Bard and a suit of Caster's Chain (AC 5, allows spell casting), and the Deep Red Ioun Stone (+1 Dex) for the Thief. Both Short Sword wielding rogues are now level 4, and discussing Keldath's request to clear Mutamin's garden, before any other NPCs are to be recruited.

How can I import from BGEE into BG2EE on an iPhone?

Which class should a new NPC in the Adventure Y have?

As we know, the Adventure Y will give us at least one new NPC whose name starts with "Gl". Maybe there will be more. But it's interesting to get a look on forumites' views on which, from your point of view, class should a new NPC have. You can mention a kit in your comment here. There're only 10 options available for the poll, so I've decided to mention mages and sorcerers in one option (as well as fighters and barbarians in another).

So far, Beamdog gave us:
Rasaad (Male LG Human Sun Soul Monk)
Neera (Female CN Half-Elf Wild Mage)
Dorn (Male NE Half-Orc Blackguard)
Baeloth (Male CE Drow Sorcerer)
Hexxat (Female NE Vampire Thief)
Wilson (Bear TN Grizzly Bear)
So, GO FOR THE VOTES!

A Paladin and Samuel the Deserter

So here an interesting question. On my current run of Bg in which I have a fully created party of a lg Undead hunter lg Ranger, Lg Caviler, LN Thief Mage, LG Conjurer, and LG Cleric of Lanthander. So I wonder how they would react to this in a rp sense. Obliviously Samuel broke the law by deserting, but should he punished because he didn't desert out of cowardice, but out of love for that girl right? So I'm torn on what a Lawful group would actually do.

Sirines

What gives with Sirines? Silence 15' radius doesn't stop their song, so their dire charms generally wreck me. Magic missile doesn't disrupt them, neither do fireballs, skull traps and other dastardly attacks. Invisibility, I can deal with; my tanks going dire on me is a lot harder. Only Minsc's berserk state keeps me from critical failure against them.

What game speed is normal for you?

I have a simple interest. For me - 60 fps is normal, because I played these games many-many times and can't wait when my party have a long-long walk through the whole areas, or cast spells for more than 6 seconds. Ctrl+J option is also good friend of mine. So, how about you?

Is there a trick to getting rumors when drinking?

Because I'm a fanatical completest, I like to get my journal updated with as much info as possible, which includes the rumors that you can get at a bar. Is there any trick to unlocking these rumors - i.e: is it dependent upon how many drinks you buy, or the price of the drinks, etc.?
