What is the probability of spell disruption? Sometimes an enemy mage/cleric is disrupted after being hit once. Other times the spell is disrupted after getting hit a few times. Also, does the amount of damage dealt matter?

Best Party Make-up (classes only)
I'm curious, without preference for this NPC over that NPC, without using names, just the classes and their kits: What do you think is the best party make-up to really maximize your overall effectiveness and enjoyment of the games (BG1 & 2)?

Build Questions (Dwarf Fighter/Cleric)
I've played with a Dual Kensai(13)/Mage but I abandoned the game (I played until shahuagin city) because it was tiresome to wait until Mage level 14. Also, I wasted points for Katana Proficiency and later I found out that there were no +5 (or better) katanas in the game.
So, I am about to start all over again from BG1 to ToB with a Dwarf Fighter/Cleric.
I want to figure out the build before I begin playing to avoid ending up missing something that could ruin my game again.
So here are my questions:
- Does a Fighter/Cleric get epic level abilities?
- What is the best weapon for this build? (from what I've read I think is either Crom Faeyr or Flail of Ages but I need confirmation)
- What is the best item for each one of the item slots?
- What are the maximum HP for each level?
Thanks in advance!

Cursed sword of berserking +3
Have you noticed it actually gives you a total of +5 to hit and damage bonus?
That's because it applies an additional +2 damage (not displayed on the character sheet) and +2 to hit, even when you're not berserking around with it.
The most interesting weapon in BG. Brage should be proud.

Toughest of the solo bounty hunters?
Who do you find to be the most difficult of the bounty hunters/mercenaries that you come across while traveling the Sword Coast, who is pursuing the contract on your head.
Note that this pertains only to the solo hunters - so it excludes party members like the Amazons that you meet outside the Nashkel mines.
During my playthroughs of the original BG1, I remember having the most trouble with Nimbul and Tarnesh. However, during my playthroughs of BG:EE, I've easily dispatched them both with wands. By contrast, I've found Neira to be a much more stubborn opponent than I'd remembered (in fact, I hadn't even remembered her at all until now).

Jaheira and her armour
Can Jaheira actually wear much/any armour?
Metal armour is mined from the ground therefore it may be an invasion of nature (though Harpers protect the balance so she might JUST be okay with it).
Leather/Ankheg/Hide/Scale armour comes from animals and I sincerely doubt she'd like that. Unless if she wears leather armour made out of orc skin? :D

Found a few pictures online (MikesRPGCentre I believe) but they seem to be very small.
If anyone can print screen the 5 levels and post it on here I'd be truly appreciative :)

How often do you save?
Including quicksaves (QS) of course.
I QS right before I KNOW I'm entering a battle or about to enter a new room in a dungeon, even if all I've done is walk half-way across the map. Maybe I'm just not that great at the game, but I end up reloading at least once a map in the first few chapters, usually due to an NPC death or walking into an obvious trap (died 20 times in a row trying to kill the Black Bear right at the start before giving up).
I also QS right before attempting to copy spells to my spellbook. I pretty much only do a permanent save right before I quit the game, or if I'm about to switch out one party member for another.
So what do others do? Do you think relying heavily on save scumming quick saves is cheating or meta-gaming? What circumstances do you always save before?
The Q key is my best friend in Baldur's Gate

LF Advice for Good Arcane Caster Playthru (BG:EE & BG2:EE)
I really like the idea of playing an arcane caster all the way through the series, it's something I've never really stuck with before, but I love the idea of attaching all these lovely spells to my PC. I'm thinking of playing Neutral or Chaotic Good (This decision will probably be made based off the Familiar you get), and more than anything I want to maximize how many spells I can learn and how many I have available (since sleeping constantly can get very annoying).
So I've read a few guides and found a lot of different options, here's my thoughts:
Sorceror - I really like this class, and the Dragon Disciple kit looks very nice, plus freeing up points that I don't have to max out Int is super nice. What concerns me is I'm a bit wary of how they learn and cast spells. It says you choose from a few each level up, well no big deal, I never use half the spells in the game anyway, but does it let you choose from ALL spell options or are there simply some mage spells you can never cast as a Sorceror? I'm a bit confused. Secondly I know they regain their spells daily and not on rest. Does this mean however that if I run out of spells I'd have to sleep for 24 hours instead of 8, or just until the clock strikes 0?
Specialist Mage - I definitely like having an extra spell, but not sure if it's worth being locked out of any specific school, I originally thought I'd be just a non-kitted mage but nowhere do I read that this is preferable. I also read that as far as specialists go that only Conjurer should be considered, or possibly Wild Mage, but I've heard they are only average in BG, but much better in BG2, I don't really know why though.
I don't want to play multi-class mage unless perhaps it's as a Gnome (I've never really played at them but Illusionist/Thief or Illusionist/Cleric sounds interesting.)
Dual classing however is something that I find a bit interesting but have never done. I'm assuming if I want to predominantly be a mage and maximize my power I would DC into the class, but I'm a bit unsure what class is best to start as, I kind of like the idea of having a mage who can use bows as ranged weapons (due to more plentiful ammo being available) so going ranged fighter seems interesting, due to the sheer number of NPC thief options I kind of want to avoid that class altogether. So if I do go ranged fighter, at what level would be best to DC?
Finally, the party itself, I don't want anyone below True Neutral since I'm playing a good character, so here's my thoughts:
BG:EE
Rasaad (I want to experience his questline)
Alora (Imoen up until I can recruit her)
Kivan or Minsc (I really want Minsc but I really don't want Dynaheir so this is a tough choice)
Ajantis (A Paladin just makes sense)
Branwen or Yeslick (For... "healing purposes")
If I have to get Dynaheir I guess I'd place her in the Cleric spot since with Rasaad, Minsc, and Ajantis I wouldn't really need a 4th melee fighter.
BG2:EE (This one is easier)
Rasaad (Again, for the story)
Keldorn Firecam (Paladin, again)
Mazzy or Minsc (As an extra fighter)
Aerie (A second mage probably will help a lot, plus she's the romantic interest)
Nalia or Anomen (This really boils down to whether a cleric or a thief would be more useful in BG2)
I guess I also need to get Valygar to open the Planar Sphere, but I'm pretty sure I can replace him after I have ownership of it, so I can get him first and switch him out for Rasaad or Keldorn afterwards.
So I'm really open to any and all suggestions for getting the best mage experience throughout the series!

He just splits!!!
I have a problem with Rasaad. I got him into my party to do the Nashkel mine quest. I finished it and killed you know who. I didn't want to and offered to let him go but when I touched the chest he turned hostile and was killed anyway. Then later back in town after telling the mayor I had finished the quest, I was ambushed by a bunch of people and in the middle of that fight Rasaad suddenly says he is leaving!!
He says my actions are unworthy or something like that. I've been a pretty good boy so I wonder what the problem might be? I'm a chaotic good ranger with a charisma of 13. Is this part of the bug that I heared of about him leaving suddenly or is it the fact that I killed you know who in the mines.

The Multiplayer Community Upsets/Dissapoints Me :(
The general public/beamdog multiplayer (general people on it) are pretty disappointing :(
What i mean is this, i hosted a public/no password game appropriately titled "New Game LVLs 7-9"
I got 5 people total over the day.
3 of them had 25, 25, 25, etc stats
1 of them played fair :D
and 1 of them looked fair, until we got in game, all of his equipment was Red/equipped, and OP as fuq.
It's kinda ridiculous...
I feel like everyone that plays the game is ruining it for themselves heh...
I mean im all for to each there own way to play, but i feel like these people are missing out on the best part of the game...Progression...not just hacking your Char to be the strongest...period. Idk, just kinda feel bad for em, and its odd, it seems like gamers nowadays have little-no patience, at least the general public...
What do you guys think about the "Mass Crowd" of gamers?

SPOILER WARNING - Aec'Letec
I've actually never messed with all of ToTSC in previous runs, opting to finish the game and export my character into BGII. But I'm doing a complete run through BG1:EE to get my character ready for II:EE.
So this Aec'Letec... Omg, this guy...
I just want to see what opinions and strats people used for this encounter.
The main issue I have is the super cheesy death-gaze-your-whole-party thing. I play core rules, so unless I purposely kill one of my own, they soon become gibbed out of existence. I haven't tried everything yet, but so far, a couple dispel attempts hasn't cleared the dying status yet.
As far as strats go, I tend to shy away from any meta gaming, but due to the sheer cheese in this encounter, there is no other way. The way I am justifying pre-buffing the party for this encounter is for one, you are warned in advance to the possiblity of running into a powerful demon, and two, my charname is a bard so he would know of tales of such beasts, knowing what to prepare for etc... So far the best run of him has gotten me 2 dead party members that I've had to kill myself in order to keep them from gibbing.
Ok, so does Death Ward work? Viconia can only memorize three of them, and kinda pointless not having it on everyone anyways. When I get back at it, I'm going to see what free action pots and protect evil 10' radius gets me. Lol.
I'll be back with updates!

Link to playthrough
This is a playthrough that I started last year which I'm picking up again. I roleplay a sorcerer with the canon party and document my adventures through a written diary and screenshots. I use the excellent BG1 NPC Project mod to add some flavor. I started playing the game in BGT, but since the last episode I'm now playing it in BG:EE. My English is not that great, so prepare for some cringeworthy grammar.
I plan to play this to the end of ToB, and I'll be posting new episodes every week to every two weeks, as my spare time permits. I'll announce new episodes in this topic.
One last thing: if you decide to take a look and would like to give me feedback of any kind it is indeed very welcome, but please use either this topic or visit this link to do so. I'd like to reserve the playthrough page for the episodes.
