So I was just wondering if there is a Mod that allows my main character romance all the options regardless of Sex or Race? I guess one that also might fix direct references to you being a man or woman would be nice too,

Does this still give the initial +1 STR besides the +2 STR you receive when you click the door? I am only getting the +2 at the door. I showed Sarevok my wrath, not sure if I hit the right dialogue choices though.

Feel free to hum the Diamond Head song as you read this, or play the Metallica remake (not because it's particularly relevant, but because it majorly kicks ass). image

At any rate, I have been playing Baldur's Gate since it was first released, as I've mentioned numerous times around here. The thing is, with all of my playthroughs, which number too many to recount, I have ALWAYS played as a goody two shoes. Keldorn, Anomen, and Ajantis have been staple party members. The good path has always felt... "right".

But now that I'm well into chapter 3 of BG2:EE with an evil party that started its adventure in Candlekeep, I am enjoying this far more than I ever thought possible. Additions like Dorn and Hexxat certainly have helped to that end.

I'm done telling people that playing good is the most rewarding path. Not necessarily, and in many cases, actually not true. I think going forward I will be just as likely to go evil as go good.

So when asked, am I evil... in my current state of mind, yes I f%^$in' am is the best response I can give!!

Has EE influenced any other fallen Paladins among us? If so, I have one more offering to help you seal the deal: image

Which difficulty do you play?

I usually go insane when i have full party.
My solo F/C im doing on normal right now.
Im some cases maybe it should be the other way around. 1 very good char is sometimes easier to play than a party. I guess the longer the game pass the better the party gets.

My last F/M + F/T duo playthrough was on insane, but both classes are just badass.
The most annoying thing with insane is often not the damage, but having to quicksave between leaning every spell!

Importing BG1EE into BG2EE...Am I the only one who wants to import everything i horded?

Pretty much says it in the title, but something about BG2 I always hated, was having to dick about with multiplayer mode to import all of my horded stuff from BG1.
Now, I appreciate some folks prefer it this way, but I don't, so im kinda praying we at least have the OPTION to import it all, or at least, have it dumped in the table in room one :)
Gold too, but..I can live without that if I must.

Anyone agree? Disagree? I mean I have imported it all in many times in the past, its hardly a "game breaker", I just like the continuity.

Beamdog Shouldn't Make BG3 - They Should Crowd Fund Their Own Game

In my humble opinion Baldur's Gate 3 should be a 2D isometric type game, just like BG and BG2 are. Project Eternity and Planescape Tides of Numenera have shown just how amazing this approach can look in the 2010s. And by taking a more simplistic approach to the visuals, the developer can devote the core of its development time to building a huge, immersive world, a rich and deep story and well fleshed out, memorable characters. In other words, this approach allows for BG3 to be developed in a way that honors BG and BG2.

We just have one small, *teeny-weeny* problem...!

Atari (and likely any larger publisher) would never let the game be developed this way. With them, the core of the budget would most likely go into pricey voice acting using big name actors, building a complex 3D engine where tons of time is spent making sure that we can see the fear in the orc's eye before he gets singed by a fireball spell. And with so much effort put on such details, things like game content, character development and a lot of other stuff is certain to get cut. Hell, if Neverwinter is any indication we may not even get all of the proper base classes included, but just a small subset. And almost certainly, the name Baldur's Gate 3 will be wholly undeserved and out of place on whatever final product is released.

So with that said, my personal view is that the best way to make Baldur's Gate 3 is to use the crowd funding model. Okay, sure, that means Beamdog doesn't get to call it Baldur's Gate 3 -- but really, what's in a name, right? It also means that the D&D ruleset & universe couldn't be used, but honestly, PC games made using this IP haven't been good quality since the Infinity Engine days (Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 are reasonable exception to this rule, granted, and Temple of Elemental Evil is excellent is many regards too, but lacking in many others). And the trend only seems to be getting worse.

I'd prefer to see Beamdog use the name recognition they are gaining with the BGEE project, and then create their own IP and engine to create a game that truly follows the tradition of Baldur's Gate and the Infinity Engine games. Obsidian and nXile have figured out that this is the way to go. I would love to see Beamdog go this route as well, rather than creating what I'm convinced would otherwise be a major disappointment with Atari at the helm.

BG2 Having trouble with Mages *Please help*

Magic in general. I am finding it really frustrating that around every corner I might get confused, stunned, feared, etc. Or I might have a magic using enemy render itself immune to my physical damage. So I try a Cleric because I want to go melee and still be able to dispel some annoying magic or cure poison but still having a tough time. Any suggestions from BG2 pros?

Hey i would appreciate if someone helps me get the best build for: Thief\Fighter having some proficiency in darts and using quarterstaff for backstabbing. I saw a few topics but i just dont know where to start. Whats the best way. Multi or Dual? Start as fighter or thief? till what level? I read halfing is prefered dart wise, but i am not sure its the best race for thief skills. Anyone with enough Bg Lore to clarify this?

I'm planning on starting a cleric/mage multi and running through the trilogy with all the new npcs.

My main question is which deity do you think a cleric/mage would worship? I know Mystra is an obvious choice and I guess I could make a gnome who worships baervar like aerie but I would love to hear some other options.

Also, what are some of your thoughts on this multi?

To restore or keep him? I know it was a feature request to "finish" that "removed" bit (if it were actually removed) to res him, but I'm sure that is out of scope of the contract. I searched for one, but couldn't find anything finished, let alone anything that would be compatible with EE.

He's one of my favorite characters, so I'd love it if I could bring him back.

Portrait Resolution inconsistency

So, with BG:EE 1.2 and BG2:EE, the engine only uses the largest custom portrait for the characters displayed on the right. But for some reason it doesn't do this for in-game portraits. So all your NPCs are still using low resolution versions while your main character with custom portrait is using high resolution version. This creates a bit of a inconsistency between the portraits.

Can we expect that this will get addressed at some point?

Hi！ I was interested in playing a lich playthrough. He would of course be a lich and a spellcaster (reputation 1). But i know little about liches so i need some help .

Questions:
Speed (must be slow)
Inmunities (to spells? to spell lvls? to magic? to cold?
Negative inmunities *fire?
Base AC
Touch attack?
Lowest starting level?

Any spells you would forbid?

Can it be cleric/mage ?

How does Sun Soulray work?

I cannot for the life of me figure out how the monk ability Sun Soulray works. What is the shape / area of effect of this ability? It seems utterly random. I can have Rasheed use it on an enemy that is surrounded by 3 or 4 enemies and it will only just hit 1 ... other times it hits every single evemy on the screen, plus eveyr single party member that's behind Rasheed (even my archers!).

Is it a 30 ft blast? It doesnt seem like it because sometimes it hits allies that are 20 feet behind him and sometimes it doesnt.. sometimes it hits 1 enemy in a cluster of enemies, other times it hits all of them.

I'm just trying to figure out how to use this stupid ability without frying my party members, but I cant do it without understand the shape / area this ability has. At least fireball tells me it has a 30ft radius so I know how to cast it and avoid hitting my friends... but there's no detailed description for this ability and even after using it a dozen times I can only deduce the shape and area of the attack are utterly random.

Hey guys,

This is my first playthrough of BG 2, inspired by the master storyteller, 'Tord' of the Youtube Channel, 'mynameisnotlilly'. As a complete noobie to Let's Plays and BG 2, my first few sessions were pretty shaky, but I feel like I am learning and improving in both regards, and will now try to share/publicise my efforts a bit more. Hopefully a few of you will find it interesting/entertaining, perhaps reminiscing about your own 'first time' with BG 2 ;)

My Let's Play is the complete opposite to the only other active Let's Play on this forum (that I am aware of). Whereas 'zur312' is obviously a veteran powergaming silently through a heavily modded game that jacks up the difficulty, I am a BG 2 noobie roleplaying blindly (and not silently) through the Vanilla experience at 'Core-rules' difficulty. Whereas he only uploads the highlights from his journey, I am uploading every minute of mine to retain a complete record of my first adventure.

This is my first full playthrough of BG 2, and also my first attempt to record a Let's Play of any game, inspired by the master storyteller, 'Tord' of the Youtube Channel, 'mynameisnotlilly'.

Sadly I do not share his talent for roleplay or his radio-ready voice, so I do not promise any quality or level of expertise, either with regards to gaming or narration. In periods, it basically becomes 'Let's watch this noob play BG 2 whilst thinking out loud.'

I am now recording primarily for my own enjoyment, so that I will be better motivated to remain faithful to roleplay and so that I can look back on what I am sure will be an epic journey through the great city of Athkatla and Empire of Amn beyond. If anyone else might be interested in following my trials and tribulations, then I will steadily upload my adventures onto Youtube.

Oh yeah, I am playing BG 2 Vanilla, with the only installed mod being the BG 2 Fixpack (Corefixes only) from http://www.gibberlings3.net/

I would regard my run as 'semi-blind'. With the exception of the very beginning of the game, I have no idea what to expect. I have avoided all walkthroughs/guides, but I have read the Manual that comes with the download from GOG, and I also use the following resources to help me in my journeys:

We hate mages yes we do! we hate mages how about you!

Notes ahead of time: a similar setup will likely be used in BG1 but in reality this party is made with a BG2EE mindsetup, and that is that mages/wizards are the root of all evil. As such I'm looking for characters who are either A. good against mages, or B. have a reason to hate mages and due to this, will likely be good aligned.

This entire group is centered around what is widely considered one of the more useless kits/classes and most useless fighter kid around, the Wizard Slayer.

The PC:
Dwarf Wizard Slayer
Axes, Hammers, Maybe Flails. Will probably reach grand mastery in hammers first since BG1 has the +2 hammer but I don't know of any +2 or greater axes in the game.

The Support:
Keldorn: Carsomyr and an Inquisitor in their natural role.
Valygar: Provides an opener against pesky magelets from stealth, and well the Cowled Wizards DO hate him
Rasaad: He doesn't hate mages, but monks versus wizards is unfair at higher levels
Imoen: A. she's my sister, B. I had to go RESCUE her from Valygar's favorite people (sarcasm warning) due to their own arrogance and stupidity.

The last slot is where I have an issue. Obviously I need a divine caster here, and Aerie is prolly what this group will call for. Anomen would make sense, except that we already have 4 other melee. Futhermore, while I might do the quests for other party members, I probably won't have a real arcane caster until I get Imoen back. Still not certain though, as melee zergs late in ToB can be as devastating as the time stopped wizard, you just need to rest for heal spells instead of damage spells =/

Other things to note: I Will build crom faeyr (only way my poor little magic hating dwarfie will get 25 str) but I'll prolly offhand it with axe of unyielding. The question becomes do I max Axes before putting points in DW or after.

I figure BGEE will be starting like:
Axes: ++
Hammers: ++ 3(+) 6(+)

In BG2EE you'd go:
Axes: ++
Hammers: ++++ 9(+)

Which means at 12, 15, 18 you can either grand master axes or attain mastery in TWF and fill out the other in ToB. Thoughts?

(Also in BP and BP2 I think I'd sub Valygar for an Elven Archer).

sorry for repost...hoping for kinda quick answer as i don't want to go further, so i reposted this here from bg:ee discussion. copy and paste below:

did i miss anything? i did the ekandor fight in adoy's enclave. was having trouble with it, finally got through it, but neera alone was down. of course i'm going to rez her asap, but because she was down at the time the quest completed, did i miss anything in terms of character dialogue or scenes? i'd rather not redo it. thanks!
