Whats your favorite BG equipment?
BG and BG2 had a lot of really fascinating pieces of equipment from the ring of Gaxx, to the Big Metal Unit, to the cloak of balduran in the first baldur's gate, to even minor things like the history books? After a quick search on the forrum to try and make sure this isn't a repeat thread, I would like to pose a question to all of you. What is your favorite BG or BG2 piece of equipment? I know most people will probably say the boots of speed, or the bag of holding, but why not think outside of the box a little too? Items that you just find really awesome without them being pretty much mainstream in levels of awesome.
Personally if I were to go a bit mainstream, I'd probably say my favorite piece of equipment was the Celestial Fury Katana. God bless that Katana, and the sheer quantity of foes I've stunned with it. Or maybe even Xan's moonblade, because despite him being the only one who could use it, that thing was so... damn... cool *_*. If I were thinking a bit outside the box though, I'd say my favorite piece of equipment was... weirdly I might say that mirror image short sword you get for finding the mimic's blood. Sure it's only +1, but being able to have a fighter or paladin with mirror image on could be a lot of fun, and I even used that until the end of TOB.

disappearing cursur
I'm new at all this so be patient- BGEE at beginning when I accessed my inventory curser disappears... What gives? Where is best, easiest place to get a patch to fix?

Divine Casters and Class-Defining Spells
I'm trying to nail down which spells are critical to each spellcasting class for the purpose of modding -- I don't want to give powerful options without also taking away options of roughly equal power.
My spell list varies with level -- at low level, Hold Person is solid gold, while at high level it's trash and Draw Upon Holy Might is the hot level 2 slot choice.
It also varies with alignment: Holy Smite is great, while Unholy Blight seems much less useful.

Avenger Druids - which bonus spells do you use?
I personally tend to use:
- Chromatic Orb at higher levels (when it starts doing Acid damage, it's a great troll-killer)
- Web (since 2nd level is otherwise kind of meh)
- Chaos
Lightning Bolt is okay, but Summon Insects is so much easier to aim, and I love how the insects will disable a spellcaster.
Chain Lightning is good, but Conjure Fire Elemental buys me an all-day butt-kicker.

Who are the artists who designed BG1 and BG2 portraits?
Hey there , I've seen so much from the IWD artists, but I honestly don't know who drew and coloured BG's portraits.
Specially BG1's , they look so real, as if the artist had used real life people to create the npc's.
Also, do you how did they paint the portraits? I've seen tutorials by Jason Manley's on how to give that 'oil painting' look to IWD portraits, but I've always wanted to 'Baldurize' a portrait.

Joia is holding out on you!
I always thought it humorous how Joia in the Friendly Arm Inn, wants your help finding her Flamedance Ring that was taken from her by Hobgoblins. When you ask what's in it for me? (evil response) she says "Nothing. I have no gold to give. I was just robbed, remember?"
Yet..... When you pick the lock on her chest, there's an Andar Gem in there. Also, if you kill her, she has 163 gold on her corpse. She's also worth *900* EXP, making me think she was just lazy and could have killed those Hobgoblins herself. What peasant is worth that much exp?
So in the end, I like to complete the quest, then take her out and grab the coin that *should* have been my reward. That's what evil chickens do.

Just as it says on the [former] title. I suffer for want of my game, so I'll make sure you'll suffer, you'll ALL suffer, MWAHHAHAHHA! And I'll do so with 'art'. As I am an avid fan of the BG2 portrait style, I'm trying for getting as close to it as I can, but, yeah, it's not exactly easy, and I'm no artist, so, you've been warned. I'm going to keep posting more pictures as I make 'em. Here is one new and a few you might have already seen posted on a different thread (put here just for the sake of completion). If after I'm done with all the BG1 NPC portraits BG:EE still isn't out, I'm gonna scar you all even more with my pet project - pictures of what would they all look like after putting on that innocent looking, unidentified magical girdle. ]:D

Alternate Viconia - features changed to fit more with what Jaheira's and Aerie's pics established as elvish features. Skin color changed because I like black drows better than blue drows (although from the description someone posted, the drow skin does have a purple or blue tone to it, so the original pic isn't wrong, per se, it just isn't to my taste). Cloak and sky color changed just because. :) Original to the left, tweaked version to the right, for sake of easy comparison.

My fav PC, Karrion - glued together from at least five different pictures - hopefully you won't be able see any of Frankenstain's Monster in him. ;)

Lady Malica, the evil halfling. If you care to insult her, do remember - she has darts hidden all over her person, AND her teeth are level with your groin. ]:)
BG1picture edited to get rid of the green light, alter her expression and trim the ears a bit, then a lot of other stuff added. (From the character creation screen, halflings are supposed to 'look mostly like small humans', and it was said elsewhere on the board that they do not, in fact, have pointy ears, but... I like pointy ears! So she has them).
Original to the left, tweaked version to the right, for sake of easy comparison.

So, BG2EE release date?
Earlier this year I was under the impression both 1 and 2 were being released at the same time, but sadly I see I was mistaken. Does anyone know how long until number 2 comes out?
I was, however, pleasantly surprised that the classes were modified as though we were already playing the sequel. :)

Fitting classes/characters for alignment?
Hey all.
I'm trying to complete a playthrough for each alignment and have the following so far:
Lawful Good- Human Male Cavalier (greatswords/halberds)
Chaotic Good- Human Female Swashbuckler (dual short swords)
Lawful Neutral- Human Female Priestess of Helm (flail or mace + shield)
True Neutral- Human Male Berserker/Druid (dual scimitars)
Chaotic Evil- Human Male Dragon Disciple (quarterstaff)
I need good character concepts for Neutral Good, Chaotic Neutral, Lawful Evil and Neutral Evil alignments and would like for some good ideas.
-trying to stick to medium races (human, half-elf, half-orc, elf)
-not really into powergaming (more rp interested)
-no fighter/mage duals or multiclass for me
Other than that input would.be appreciated :) once I'm done with each alignment I'll have a fun poll u p to vote.for.my canon Bhaalspawn, complete with bios :)

Reputation change on recruitment of characters
Concerning certain characters such as Viconia and Dorn, when you recruit them your reputation decreases. Should this not apply to all evil characters? Is Dorn for example inherently more evil than Edwin or Sarevok?
As far as I am aware no reputation increases are available for recruiting good characters? Do you think that should change?

(Spoilers) Can Edwin Learn Identify?
For the life of me, I don't remember. I'm planning on a party of [spoiler]Baeloth[/spoiler] and Edwin as my casters. I know he can't cast divination but I don't recall if he can cast minor divination and just not major? If he can't, then I'm going to have to use Xzar as my identifier for awhile.

Nashkel Miner Animations
Why is it that the miners in the Nashkel mines share the same animations as beggars i.e. naked expect something around their waist? Given that the mines are under management by a professional organisation, and that the miners are being paid and are not slaves do you think that is somewhat odd?

A theory about Paladins.
My lore for Paladins for the D&D universe might not be correct, but doesn't the Paladins received their powers from some source of divinity? So whenever I play a Paladin class I always imagine that I receive my divine powers from the essence of Bhaal within me. This could also work with the sorcerers and Clerics class too. Anyone else think about this?

Did you ever miss Draw upon holy might? *BG2 spoilers*
Little off subject of BG;EE, but in BG2 your bhaalspawn powers are taken away and replaced with the ability to changed into the slayer. Which is really good, I'm not putting that down it's just that one of my major buffs in BG2 for my Undead Hunter was Draw upon Holy Might.(Although I was still able to do this through my priest spells,) When I played as a Swashbuckler I no longer had that ability and it upset me. Did you ever miss it as I did?

Has the Cat Familiar always moved at half the speed of the others?
The new "2014" patch has introduced re-balanced familiars, on the whole I think this is great and makes the familiars much less OP and now non-cheesy to use, but I think there might be a problem with the cat familiar - it moves at about half the speed of the player characters, so gets left behind when moving as a group, and has no way of escaping if it gets spotted when scouting (its main role). All the other familiars (including the ferret and rabbit) move at normal speed.
Is this a new bug or has the cat always been incredibly slow? I've only recently played a Chaotic Neutral PC.

Kitting NPC's, what would you change?
Since kits didn't exist in the original BG1, I feel like...maybe we missed out...some classes feel closer to certain kits than others to me...but what do you think? List kits you'd use.

Journal Functionality
I find that there are many improvements with the new journal design, particularly the reactions to completion of quests, but unless there is a bug it also seems over complicated in places. For example, when I met Elminister and subsequently checked my journal rather than simply scrolling up and down to read the text it half appears on the screen...
