How often do you rest?
Just wondering about peoples resting routines and if people have fixed requirements for as and when they can rest. Personally I tend to keep it pretty minimal - something I noticed especially on my current solo run where I've only just received the DUHM power in the lead up to the final battle...

Why no Priest of Tempus?
In my opinion this is without a doubt the strongest Cleric kit by far - even stronger than the exceptional Priest of Lathander. But it's only available in IWDEE??? I thought surely it was available in BGEE/BG2EE since the release of SoD/major patch. But nope, I started up BGEE today and that's when I noticed it.
Is there any logical reason why the best freaking Cleric kit got left out? Surely it's not due to lore/location - Candlekeep is only a thousand kilometers or so south-east of the SOTW mountains. You can't tell me that no one's heard of Tempus worship, or that one of their priests never stepped foot inside Candlekeep. There's no reason for that kit to have been left out unless it was for balance reasons.
I wish there was a mod or some kind of editor that allowed for that kit.

Can't finish the game
So at the end of the game where you get the invitation to the duke coronation... I killed bill and I can't get into the palace I thought I would be able to brute force through but apparently you have to be a little b*tch and do it the other way... Any ways I did that and I still can't enter. It keeps telling me to gather my party so I'm stuck outside of the castle. Have the iPad version so modding is not a option. How the hell was this not fixed prior to release... Need a beta tester? ...

Red Dragon Disciple and 100% fire resistant team possible?
Hey!
I thought to ask before rolling RDD, that is it possible to equip all team members with fire resistance gear in such a manner that friendly fire while casting various fire aoe would be totally negated somewhere past mid-SoA?
Another question: even if a character is fireproof, does an aoe fire spell still cause spells to be interrupted?

"Justice" and its implementation in the Forgotten Realms
There has been numerous threads about alignments on these forums, especially questions like "what is lawful" or not. This time, I want to ask something slightly different however; what the heck is "justice"?
No, seriously, I have no idea!
There is a saying that justifying ones action is only for the just. But what does "being just" entail, exactly? Being a lawful aligned person(or worse, a paladin
)? Working in a court as advocate, barrister, or judge? Being a follower of Torm, Amaunator, Bahamut, or Kelemvor... who all four have the Justice domain? Does that mean that neither people nor deities with other alignments than lawful good or lawful neutral can't be just as well? Does the mental construct of justice not function with, say... evil?
Most important of all, whose justice is the setting even talking about in the first place?
Is it some fundamental outer force of existance like the rule of three (good, neutral, evil)? Is it the country's justice? The religion's justice? Or the self administered justice of individuals?
When does one draw a line between justice and retribution? One could argue they are one of the same, depending on whose justice we're talking about. Yet they're two separate portfolios when it comes to deities.
Questions, questions.

Portraits unearthed
I would like to show you early version portrait of Cernd, Anomen, Viconia and Mazzy.
I dug them out from BG2 Demo files.
The most interesting are Anomen and Cernd. Especially Cernd, he looks like an indian shaman. What a interesting concept! And what do you think about that?

When did you first play a Black Isle game and what was it?
Just thought it would be interesting to see when people got into the game!
My first was baldurs gate 2. I was 10 years old. My step brother asked the employee for a game similar to Diablo 2 for a birthday present for me and he suggested bg2. I basically just played with a assassin with cheats to get max level cause I loved blowing people up with backstab. I don't think I actually beat the game without cheats until I was like 13 lol. Also I was obsessed with the shadow thieves and thieves guild. I would always change my character to the shadow thief model

Cleric / Thief appreciation thread
There seems to be very little love for the cleric / thief multiclass out there. I am here to convince you it is not a bad choice at all. I start with cons, since that is a short list;
1. Intelligence will be your dump stat. I think it has some kind of relevance to at least some conversations, not sure though. However, thats not really what bothers me, it is that for me it ruins immersion a bit. I think a knucklehead would not have survived as long as the canon Gorions ward actually does.
(More hate I dont get; charisma. It often gives you better rewards for quests, come on! Many tiny springs becomes a wide river as we say in Sweden, and that way you can purchase premium goods earlier.)
2. Because of point 1 (wisdom cant be dump stat, or, well, as far as I know spell level restriction rules are not implemented, so if you dont care about extra spells you can make it 9) you will roll stats till kingdom come if you want a legit char.
3. No familiar.
Pros;
1. I have played a lot of BG, and in my experince, you always want a thief, and you always want healing. By letting your main be a Cleric / Thief, you have much more freedom in whom you chose for the rest of the party.
2. More THACO and HP than mage / thief.
3. Half-orcs can be cleric / thiefs. That means a major boost to damage and THACO already at level 1, and should you come across (w/o spoiling to much in case noobs read this) certain items that increase con, you can get 20 con which gives you regeneration - not fast enough to be useful in combat, but still useful.
4. Sanctuary - fast cast, lets you escape a dangerous situation
and
draw upon holy might, which already at level 9 cleric gives your halforc 23 str and 22 dex (assuming you found certain ability boosting items). Do you even need the slayer ability? You cant get lvl 9 in bgee though, you neg bg2ee for that.
Best dual class;
Swashbuckler, despite no backstabbing. At lvl 12 you get three points in dualwield and two points in club (only dualwield weapon you will not lose) as well as +1 dmg and THACO and +2 AC. You can then use morningstar or mace as your offhand weapon once you get 13 levels cleric - of course, that means that for roughly 1/2 of the game, you cannot you char fully. I never really liked dualclassing...
...which is why I use gatekeeper to make multiclass swashbuckler / cleric. That way, you mysteriously also get to keep backstabbing but unfotunately you have to use gatekeeper again every four levels because you cannot get the two and three points respectively in clubs and dualwield this way. In theory, the weapon with the fastest speed will be used for backstabbing, so you can have two maces, switching only firsthand weapon to club when you backstab, but in practice this is iffy as f... coitus, and you may want to always use two clubs for that reason. First, make a swashbuckler, then use gatekeeper to chose multiclass cleric thief and chose as your specialisation swashbuckler. This way, there will be no glitches, your AC, THACO and dmg bonuses will be added automatically at appropriate levels.
There you go folks, try this build at your next run!

Your thoughts on having Xzar and Monty in the party
Hey ya!
Folks, I'm planning on starting a new game with a human Blade whom I had started before and done a couple of chapters but wasn't really happy with my party. Now I'm thinking of another party and would appreciate some thoughts . First of all I'm taking imoen, khalid and jaheira.
Now here's the dilemma , as a true neutral blade I thought that xzar and monty would fit in, even though my protagonist ain't really evil. Personally I like them because they look like a pair of underdogs , and RPwise I would consider that both harpers and Zenths are fighting against a common enemy. But I do wonder if they're still fun to have around for long, with their delusions and life threats. Also, I've got NPC project installed and would like to know if they've got lots of banters and comments during the game (I know that certain npc's, such as viconia, participate very little).
Thanks in advance!

Whoa! Priests of Helm are so strong!
I am rediscovering Clerics it would seem (I've been out of the loop a while). And today I noticed Priests of Helm - wow, they seem so strong. Have they always been this way? I don't remember back in the day ever seeing +4Thac0 and 3 APR!!! Okay so you can't cast during but can you beforehand? What's stopping you from casting Champions Strength as a high level Cleric and then popping it for 3APR and +4 thac0???
And how are Preists of Lathander supposed to compete against this? I don't remember Priests of Helm being this strong...Am I overlooking something?
You could dual to mage at level 9, still max arcane spell casting, cast stoneskin, champions strength and pop that ability. As a 500k XP character you would be invincible for that portion of SoA! Am I missing something? Isn't this vastly OP???

Compatibility Question
So, if I have BG1 ordered directly from Beamdog on my computer, and I were to get a Steam-resident version of BG2, would the two programs communicate for purposes of saved characters and the like?

Why don't you play as the Wizard Slayer kit in BG2?
Wondering if the restriction is simply too castrating for other players as it is for me.

EEKeeper Class Tweaking
Looking for ideas for some interesting class hybrids for future playthroughs. I've played almost every class/kit included in the game and have started tweaking my charnames with EEKeeper. I recently finished a playthough with a Cleric/Ranger that had Paladin kit abilities. Thinking of running a Blade with Swashbuckler and Dragon Disciple effects. Not immediately putting full abilities in, but adding them at half the Blades level.
This is for all the players who like to tweak their characters beyond what the game allows. What are some of your favorite Frankesteinien class creations?

Baldur's Gate EE (complete saga) import saves
Hello guys,
I'm with a level 6 party when I found Baeloth and he talks about black pits... I was thinking, it is possible import the BGEE save to black pits (with all characters) and after import the black pits to SoD??
But I want import not just characters, but the entire save, can anyone help me?
And the same process, import from SoD to black pits 2, and after to BG2EE.... it is possible too?
Thanks!

Come suggest some theme songs for each NPC!
For the music lovers out there!
What songs do you guys think would be fitting for each NPC? Share a tune that fits their character, their story or their attitude.
All suggestions welcome!
I'll begin with some:
Due t his marriage difficulties and his wife's name, I'll give Keldorn "Maria, Maria" by Santana. The pain in his voice when he says "Maria!" after his wife says "What if I don't love you anymore?" is just heartbreaking. Also, Manowar's "Heart of Steel" just describes his attitude toward evil perfectly for me
![image]()
Dorn must have some kind of song about being badass and evil. The songs "Bad to the Bone" by George Thorogood would fit, but I'm a big metal fan, so I'll give him Iced Earth's "Pure Evil"
Eldoth just has to be an outlaw country song, so I either have to go with "Didn't Your Mama Tell ya 'bout Boys Like Me" by Montgomery Gentry or for a better song, Iron Maiden's "Running Free"
Skie would definitely be the Upper Middle Class spoiled girl who totally thinks she's cool for listening to rrap, so I'd have to give her some Kanye (the go-to artist for these people). She's also the totally non-metal sorority girl who constantly misuses Dio's horn sign while listening to Blink 182
