dark sun and other worlds in the future

Hey all,
What do you think, any chance of Beamdog making a Dark Sun, Dragonlance, Planescape or maybe even a Ravenloft game in the future using their enhanced version of IE? One can always hope? :)

In your opinion, how is the REST of SoD (outside of the controversial character and the Minsc line)?

I haven't played it yet because I've been holding off on SoD until the EET mod is ready. But the vast majority of reviews and critiques that I've seen about the expansion are all centered around the apparently poor implementation of the controversial trans character. But I haven't seen a lot of opinions about how the rest of the expansion is. Specifically if it fits well between BGI&II from a narrative standpoint, the writing, environments, etc.

I've also seen a lot of criticisms over some of the 2.0 features, so I consider the 2.0 stuff to just be a "work-in-progress."

But anyway, what are your thoughts?

PLEASE EITHER LIGHT OR NO SPOILERS!

What's your favorite bard kit?

Having a sudden urge to play through the story as a half-elf bard for reasons that escape me, I know instantly that I will make him a skald, without a doubt. The Skald song is awesome, and the lack of pick pocket doesn't phase me at all.

However, I got curious as to what the rest of you have as your favorite (or default) choice for a bard CHARNAME. So, in the vein of the "What's your favourite ranger?" post, I made a poll here.

Did you *actually* know?

I started posting random trivia about Baldur's Gate and Co. on the activity page, but it have become so many that I decided to start a new topic. If you yourself know an interesting piece of trivia, feel free to share.

Either way, here we go:

Did you know?

Alora isn't a halfling, she actually is a really short and petite gnome.

Bhaal and Cyric used to be lovers but Bhaal cheated on him with his sister which is why Cyric killed him.

Dynaheir sings "These boots are made for walking" by Nancy Sinatra because Dynaheir used to be Nancy Sinatra's old D'n'D player character.

CHARNAME isn't actually a Bhaalspawn, they were accidentally switched as a newborn with the temple's janitor's child. Alaundo's prophecy is just a fraud.

There is a squirrel with a powerful magic ring somewhere in the original Baldur's Gate.

Icewind Dale was named after Dale Ace Windy, a famous Canadian popstar from the 80s.

If you shoot a Magic Missile at Gorion in the very beginning of the original Baldur's Gate in Candlekeep, he will give you some very useful potions in return.

Adventure Y was originally supposed to be called Adventure Z but the devs reconsidered to avoid a potential legal suite from Bandai because of the similarity to Dragonball Z.

Kivan never had a wife, he just made the story up as part of his wrestling persona.

Sarevok was voiced by Jaleel White, who is most famous for his role as Steve Urkel in the 90s sitcom "Family Matters".

Nothing can stop the Smooze.

Edwin is actually a virgin, he is just overcompensating all the time.

When your familiar dies you may lose one constitution point, but if you keep it's corpse, Cromwell will forge a Katana +4, +2 bleeding damage/ round for 10 rounds from it.

There are actually no spambots on these forums, the mods just ban random people because the motherbrain tells them to do so.

If you wish to save Clara you need to choose the following dialogue options after meeting her: 2, 4, 1, 1, 3

There is a glitch that let's you one-hit Beholders, if you cast barkskin *and* stoneskin on yourself and then attack them with a Quarterstaff +1.

Gorion and Jaheira used to be a couple back in the day.

If there was to be a Baldur's Gate Saga adaptation, which form would you prefer?

Choices:
Traditional Popcorn Film Series like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars etc.
Network or Basic Cable TV like Once Upon a Time, Walking Dead, Arrow etc. (More Episodes, slightly lower production quality)
Premium Cable or Streaming TV like Game of Thrones, Daredevil, Pillars of the Earth, etc. (Fewer Episodes, higher production quality) on HBO, Showtime, Starz, Netflix, Amazon, etc.
Anime Series like Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Berserk, Attack on Titan, etc.
Western 3D CGI Style Animated Series like Star Wars: The Clone Wars or Transformers stuff
Comics/Graphic Novels told in a long-form, serialized style
Series of Novels to replace that abhorrent insult insult to fans everywhere by Philip Athans whose existence I refuse to acknowledge (I feel bad for the writer, but I thought those were terrible)
Other if I'm possibly forgetting a viable option... I was thinking something like a musical in the style of Wicked or Hamilton or perhaps a heavy metal concept album the types of which are produced by Blind Guardian, Evergrey or Iced Earth. These are a little too niche to include, so lets have a general category for some unconventional choices.

I think each provide their own interesting possibilities. My prediction is that the premium cable series will be most popular, but some people like network television and love reading, so you never know.

Memory Loss: Intelligence VS Wisdom

Looking for input on how a character's attributes should be measured if you plan on role-playing someone with severe short-term or long-term memory loss. Does low wisdom or low intelligence better measure this kind of quality?

Baldur's Gate says that Intelligence measures memory. But what if a person is very knowledgeable, but can't remember what they ate for breakfast?

On the other hand, someone could be very perceptive, but be unable to remember facts and dates that were just told to them in order to save their life.

How would you roll up a character with very poor memory?

Low wisdom or low intelligence?

Absorb health icon

Hi,
I really rare to play blackguard, but it always annoys me that the absorb health icon is the larloch minor drain icon. It confusing because my bhalspawn power has the same icon in my innitate ability menu.
If the devs ever thinking to change it i have some ideas for that, egz: use the blood drain ability icon from hexxat, its cool and fit to the absorb health, or just create a new icon for this ability. I think its important to have time to thinking about the graphical outlook of abilities, it makes the game more cool :)

Wis / Int / Cha and dialogue option walkthroug ?

I love playing talkative character and in more time if there a dialogue - negociation option i alway a least try it. So i'm start thinking if somebody have made a list of stat-based dialogue option for BG:EE, BG:SoD and BG2:EE. I have search online but not find anything related (except the fact stat seems doesn't have a lot of importance in BG:EE).

Does somebody have something like this ?

What do you not like about DnD

So I know that a lot of people on this forums love DnD, whether its the books, table top games, or video games. There is also a lot of hate, towards the books, different Editions, and the video games, so the question that I am here to ask you is; What are some things that you don't like about DnD in general?

Post your Nightmare Mode experiences here, from challenges to fun moments.

Here's me killing Niz, the Black Dragon in Suldanessellar.

FMT
Berserker 7/Cleric
Kensai 9/Mage
Inquisitor
Assassin 9/Fighter
Sorcerer

Apparantly Nightmare mode gives monsters 3 * Normal HP +80, so he should have 680 HP. I managed to deal 686, so that's pretty accurate. The reason I used such cautious tactics was to ensure easy tallying of damage.

"Advanced" AI?

The script seems to work fine for thieves, they'll look out for traps if you choose the option. Seems to do nothing for bards or clerics when you choose sing or turn undead when idle. I cant choose the "controlled" scripts because they use the letter D for some actions which I've assigned to move the camera to the right like in 99% PC games.

Sing and Fight at Same Time?

My character is a Quarterstaff-wielding Halfling Jester (mods), with RR, and that one mod that adds weapon finesse. So, her melee combat is actually not bad, and saves are nice too.

Now, I'm aware, that usually singing is mutually exclusive from all other abilities. You are either singing, or doing something else. But I'd like to picture my character dancing around the enemy, talking in confusing riddles, and bopping them on the head. So being able to fight and use song at the same time would be awesome. It's not meant to be a super damage dealer, but is meant to be an annoying hard to hit melee fighter that attracts attention and debuffs.

Now, some googling research stated that it might be possible with "extensive micromanaging", but never goes into *how* that would work. Micro-managing is find by me, I just need to understand a step by step.

---That above part suits General Discussion just fine, but the below falls more into "modding".---

I'm also not above adding "lingering song" HLA through EE Keeper at lvl 1, but I have no idea how to do that. There's not exactly an "HLA" tab, and I don't think it functions like an innate. Now it might be an effect, that I would need to copy over, but I don't have any characters with the effect. (If someone has one, I could examine the file and maybe find it.)

Additionally, there may be a way to increase the duration of the song directly in EE Keeper. I am unsure if this would get overwritten or not once I hit 9th level and the song upgraded. Under "Effects", there is a "Spell Effect: Change Bard Song Effect" with a time of "7", which I assume is it. I'd probably make it 3 rounds...just long enough that I'm not clicking it repeatedly...but I need to be "actively singing" for it to work..and if I get distracted, I'd stop. Just like my character.

Now I don't know if a new effect comes in when you hit the proper level, or if the changes in level are built into this entry.
(Like 'Cast Song, Duration 7.. If level < 9, use x debuff... else if level <18 use y debuff)

Its not too easy to read. Insight would be highly appreciated.

:)

How do you feel about the breach of "one Steve limit" trope in BG?

You can check out this page for the said trope.

This is of course a minor thing. I'm sure many people haven't even noticed this let alone being bothered by it, but it is a pet peeve of mine that you encounter a Neira who wants to kill you, and a Sendai with whom you might end up fighting in the first game.

I don't even know why I feel this way, characters sharing names is actually realistic; but it leaves a sour taste in my mouth, regardless. In fact, since these names aren't voiced, or referenced by anyone other than the characters themselves, I wish they were replaced with some other names.

"You can import your BG2 character into Neverwinter Nights!"

Remember this loading screen tip from the original BG2? Of course, it's obvious why it was never implemented - not only was there a transition from AD&D 2e to 3e, but your character would have been at an extremely high level by the end of BG2, making a play-through of NWN a breeze.

That said, I'm curious as to what BioWare's original intent behind this "feature" was. How was the difference in levels going to be handled? Was there going to be some sort of "plot hook" to tie the BG story into NWN? Or was it simply an idea that was discarded very early on?

Darts as primary weapon?

I'm looking at the mage weapon table, considering future mage characters and those I will encounter through the games. Has anyone made darts their primary weapon in some way, shape or form? How well do the work for you? I certainly find enough magical darts through the games, so I should make SOME use of them, but figured it might be safer to ask first.
