Using EE Keeper to use your favorite BG1EE NPC Party in BG2EE

$

Just curious if anyone besides me did this?

I used EE Keeper to export two my favorite party members from the final save of BG1EE and imported them into BG2EE.
Xzar and Montaron.
I know the're in BG2EE already as plot related quest, But I wanted them back as my canon party from BG1EE...
So after finishing BG1EE, i imported them into the BG2EE Multiplayer Game. Then i saved that game after speaking with Imoen and copy it to Single Player Game.
Before i start though... I made sure i extracted the BG1EE NPC's voiceset in BG2EE override folder first, before going into the BG2EE.
Even though the BG2 NPC's don't have text dialog with BG1EE NPC's. A banter can trigger between Xzar, Montaron and the BG2EE NPC's. But its random...
The NPC's don't say any text to Xzar or Montaron. So Xzar or Montaron can come off a bit crazy...

For Xzar and Montaron to come off as canon from the start. I would avoid Renfeld's request to return to the Harper Hold.
Yes... this destroys the Harper Quest. But it makes since...

The Party of Spiders: No-reload SCS2 run

I have started a new no-reload run of BG2 with SCS2 installed. I want to see if it's possible to play a melee-oriented party that does not have any fighters in it. So, I will be playing with only spellcasting characters, but I will be trying to use as few spells as possible, and focus instead on melee and ranged combat.

So, no Keldorn, Mazzy, Valygar, Minsc, Jaheira, or Korgan. No Sarevok, either, if I make it to TOB.

The Bhaalspawn in question is Sil, a Human Cleric of Lathander:
17 STR
8 DEX
16 CON
18 INT
18 WIS
10 CHA
She duals at level 11 for the extra casting of Boon of Lathander, which grants +1 to APR, THAC0, damage, and saving throws, stackable (I'll have two castings in total, for 3 base APR). She'll need about 1.5 million XP to get her levels back. That's 3 times as much XP as a Kensai(9)/Mage, so she'll be in pretty bad shape after she hits level 11.

I completed a handful of quests so far. I delayed posting this for fear that I would get killed in Chateau Irenicus.

I have tried a no-reload run of SCS2 once before. Lavok killed me with a Fallen Planetar and Dragon's Breath. Let's hope things go better this time.

Part 1: Leaving Candlekeep

--------------------

"Again!"

The young dwarf grunted as he was pushed back a step. An older, grayer dwarf snarled as he swung again with his axe.

"Ye call yerself a dwarf? Eh?! Ye weak livered son o' an elf!"

Another blow came crashing down on the shield. The younger dwarf grunted as he planted his feet, using his low center of gravity to keep himself from being pushed back again.

"Oh? So ye're a gnome now, is it?"

The axe fell again. His arm was getting tired. It was getting harder to hold it against the constant blows.

"Ye make me sick! Ye rat bastard. Ye know what I do to-"

Suddenly, the dwarf surged forward, using his shield to hammer a blow into the older dwarf's face. The gray haired dwarf roared in pain as he was pushed back a step himself. The younger dwarf swung out with a hammer, but it was easily batted away.

http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa464/grumbaki/Baldurs Gate/IMG_0772.png

The young dwarf, Durak panted as he held the hammer in front of him, ready to swing again. No more than twenty winters old, he was a beardling by any dwarf's standard. An oddity, all things told. While many a shield dwarf grew up within the confines of a human settlement, very few were ever actually raised by a human. For Durak, his foster father was the mage Gorion. A wise, gentle man, Gorion had taken the young dwarf in long ago and over the objections of Ulraunt. While he did all he could to be a father figure, Gorion was still a mage and a man of books. Knowing that young Durak would never follow in his footsteps, he instead shared his training with two others.

Where Gorion did his best to impart a love of knowledge on the young dwarf, Reevor took on the role of a combat master. The old dwarf took to it with relish, treating the beardling like a soldier from his far away clan. Durak was raised in the traditional art of the dwarven defender, to use hammer and shield as if though it were part of his body. In this, he excelled beyond Reevor's wildest expectations. There was a strength in the dwarf that far surpassed his years. He grew up as strong as an ox and as tough as any dwarf had a right to be. Even at the young age of twenty, he was a hearty as a dwarf with a full beard. The more promise that Durak showed, the tougher Reevor became. If it were not for the influence of Gorion, the older dwarf might have truly done his best to break the youngster, just to see if he could. As is, he merely pushed him as far as he reasonably could while still being welcome in Candlekeep.

http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa464/grumbaki/Baldurs Gate/IMG_0794.png

Looking at the panting Durak, Reevor had to admit to himself that he was just as tired. Moreso, if he was honest with himself...something he certainly didn't have a mind to be.

"I thought I told you to clean the rats out of this building yesterday, already. Hop to it! Get in there!"

With a nod, Durak did just that. Hefting his hammer, he went to the dire task of using his hammer to clear out a rat infestation, without breaking anything of value. Reevor stood aside as he watched the beardling charge in, a look of pride and jealousy in equal measure written on his face. He knew that Durak would be leaving soon, something he had complained long and loud for ever since he was 'saddled' with the burden of training the beardling. He could hear the sound of the hammer falling and 'squeaks' from within. "I'll miss the wee bastard", he thought to himself.

When Durak came out, a smile not quite hidden from his face, Reevor grunted and tossed him five gold crowns.

http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa464/grumbaki/Baldurs Gate/IMG_0795.png

"Ah yes, kill them like the rats they are! A glorious battle unlike this world has ever seen. Here's five gold pieces. Don't spend them all in one place."

With that, a smile truly did break across Durak's face. "Aye! Thank ye!" Reevor knew that the gold would turn to ale soon enough. He successfully fought back the smile.

"Well, what'yre ye waiting for? Ye going to keep Arkanis waiting, ye faerie fondling nitwit?"

http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa464/grumbaki/Baldurs Gate/IMG_0790.png

This led Durak to Arkanis' forge. Arkanis was another of his tutors. Where Reevor had taught him the art of dwarven combat, Arkanis had taught him of the forge. It was something that Durak didn't quite take naturally to. It seemed to Arkanis as if though the art of killing ran in the beardlings' blood. His great flaw was that he always swung his hammer as if though he were to kill something. But he did his best, Moradin knew that. So Arkanis toiled away, doing all he could to temper the beardling the dwarven way - with a hammer in hand and an anvil before him.

When Durak came in, he found Arkanis talking animatedly to Deder. One of Arkanis' good friends, Deder was another one of Durak's closest companions. A source of levity in a life full of books, hammers and anvils. It was rare to see the halfling look serious. Durak came to a halt and looked at the pair uncertainly.

"What's the matter? Am I late? I dunnae think I'm late..."

Arkanis looked at Deder and then shook his head.

"Nay, ye're nay late. But...ah, fook it! Lad, ye're leaving. An' shut it when I'm talking, ye hear? Master Gorion says that it's nay safe here for ye. Moradin knows why, but he's told ye to pack up ye belongings an' get to him now."

"But...what? Why? How could it not be safe here? This place is a fortress-"

"Oi! Did I nay say shut it? Look, keep ye shield there. Nay ye worry about Reevor, I'll explain it to him. Now, one last thing. Ye're to get ye arse o'er to the priests' quarters. I've got me war-hammer there. I want ye tae have it. Nay that smithin' hammer ye've been swinging around." He reached over and pulled the light hammer out of Durak's confused hands.

Arkanis then reached out and put a calloused hand on the beardling's shoulder. "Ye take me hammer, an' ye do me proud. Ye remember, that e'ery time ye swing it, ye remember that there best be a reason on why ye're swinging it. Ye dunnae dare disgrace me hammer, ye understand."

"I under-"

"Oi! I said shut it." Deder looked away, suddenly finding something interesting on the wall to look at. "Not get out o' here. An' the next time I see ye...fook it. Jus' go."

Hesitantly Durak nodded, and then ran off. He spared one look back, and was gone.

http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa464/grumbaki/Baldurs Gate/IMG_0778.png

When Durak got to the priest quarters, he opened the door and found a hooded man waiting for him. He was sitting in a chair, fingering a dagger.

"Oh goodie goodie! I've gone and found ye first! You are the ward of Gorion, no doubt?"

"I am. What can I do for ye?"

...

Durak was shaking. He looked down at the man's body. He had grabbed the nearest thing at hand - a priest's quarter staff. It was covered in blood. The man had come at him with the dagger. ready to take his life. He wasn't ready for how quick the dwarf was...or how strong. Neither was Durak, truth be told. He reached down and tapped at the man. He didn't move. Slowly he started to accept it. He had just killed someone. Durak thought back to what Arkanis had said. That it wasn't safe here.

http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa464/grumbaki/Baldurs Gate/IMG_0781.png

He went and retrieved Arkanis' hammer. He held it in his hands. It felt right. This wasn't a tool for smithing. It wasn't for creating. It was for destroying. It was a tool of death. He stared at the body of the would-be assassin. He didn't want to admit it to himself, but for someone reason it just felt right in his hands.

With that, Durak ran from the quarters, leaving the body lying there. He hoped that Parda wouldn't find it. He didn't know what the kind hearted priest would think if he saw something so gruesome lying there. But at that moment he didn't want to think about that. He just hoped that someone like Hull or Fuller would find it first. They would dispose of it quietly. He hoped, as he ran. He had to find Gorion. Durak didn't understand why this was happening, why someone would want him dead. But he knew that he had to leave.

Phaendris: Scourge of the Sword Coast (Role-Played Evil Play-Through)

Welcome one and all to my third documented play-through. This won't be a solo game, as my previous two were/are, but it will be quite different. This time around we're going down a darker path than previously. I introduce to you... Phaendris!
image
Background and Prologue:
Phaendris has always known she was powerful. From the beginning, something about her was different than the other plebeians she was surrounded by. She quickly learned, however, that to succeed you must deceive. To that end she established a good relationship with all the inhabitants of Candlekeep. She worked hard to be perceived as a wonderful person that everyone could count on. And she succeeded for the most part. Between her efforts at becoming likable, and her natural elven beauty, Phaendris became liked by all the people of Candlekeep, although to varying degrees. But Phaendris wasn't satisfied with adoration. She needed to not only seem like the strongest, but also BE the strongest.

Phaendris channeled all her efforts into improving herself, whether it was by sparring with the guards, running with Imoen, studying with Gorion, or even helping out with Dreppin's farm. It all made her stronger, and her natural talent was evident. She was not wise, however, never thinking about her actions before charging in, and always finding herself in more trouble than a normal person would be able to handle. Luckily for her, her natural and earned abilities made her more than capable of overcoming the situations she put herself in. This only brought her more adoration, as everyone was consistently impressed by her abilities. Only one person seemed to think she was mortal, and that was Gorion. Her sagely foster father always seemed to see through her attempts at popularity, and though he willingly instructed her in the ways of magic, he seemed to see the darkness within her that others could not. This infuriated Phaendris, and she avoided Gorion when she was not studying. Another source of constant annoyance was the loud and obnoxious Imoen. Phaendris hated the little blabbermouth, but she was useful in Phaendris' training. Phaendris had long ago decided that were she ever given the opportunity, she'd throw Imoen to the dogs to be devoured. Deep within her, though, a certain fondness existed that she pretended was not there. Whether Phaendris would truly do such a thing to Imoen was not certain, even to her, though she tried to squelch the indecision.

Phaendris desired immensely to leave Candlekeep behind and explore the world, but thought that the day would never come, what with Gorion around. To her surprise, however, she awoke one morning to Gorion calling her name. She awoke and found Gorion beside her, looking more worried than she had ever seen him. She asked what was wrong, and he responded that nothing was wrong, but they needed to leave town immediately. He handed her a sack of gold and told her to purchase supplies at Winthrop's before telling her he'd be in front of the library when she was ready. With that he disappeared, and Phaendris was left to ponder what on earth was going on. After a moment she shrugged, deciding that she would get to leave the walls of the library for once, so whatever had occurred, it was of no concern to her. She dressed and went out to Winthrop's inn immediately.
Phaendris isn't going to be a challenge really, except for the whole "being evil" thing, which is a challenge for me! But other than that, she'll be a regular play-through. Limitless reload, no mods, a full party, ect. ect. I don't have an exceptional background or story for the character, but I think I can knock together a pretty good story together. I'll post the first installment tomorrow unless something comes up, so expect to see your first taste of evil adventure then!

ToB Quests for Core NPCs

What questlines would you have wanted to see for the non-EE companions in "Throne of Bhaal"?

I figure Edwin would take another crack at figuring out the Nether Scrolls, and the player could choose whether to help or secretly sabotage him - if he succeeds, you get a lich party member for about a week until he finally turns on you; if he fails, you get to keep Edwin through to the end of the game.

Aerie would finally track down the slavers who took her from her home, and decide what to do with them now that she's an all-powerful archmage with a Rashemi bodyguard.

Thoughts on the other party members?

Crowdsourcing custom sound sets

$
0
0
So if any of you have ever tried to make a custom voice set from clips of a television show, you know how much work it can be. Sifting through hours of a television show to find enough clips of a certain characters voice to make a full set, and not really getting enough lines to make it work.
Well, I think I might have a solution. A part-solution, at least.

We can Crowdsource the lines. If a few people take an episode each, and write down the time and line we could compile them best them into a soundset much faster. And this way, of someone wanted a specific voice set, we might be able have one in a few days. To-order voice sets, if you will.

For example: I want a Malcolm Reynolds (firefly) voice set. So I'll watch ep. 1, and every time I hear what I think might be a useable line, I write down the time and the line, and a suggested use like this:

Battle cry- "We are just to pretty for God to let us die" -1:22:42 se1 ep1

And I'll do that for all the lines I find on episode one. And @Nonnahswriter can do it for episode 2, @Elminister can do it for 3, @Ravenslight can do it for episode 4, and soon, we have the whole season. Then we can pick the ones we want, and one person can go back, record and compile it all.

Ta-da, custom soundset.

So starting us off, I already have a few mal lines* so I'll post those. I already have the, recoded so I won't go back and rewatch the episode to find the time and episode, but they'll still work. What sound they'll be(action, selection, enviroment, etc) are flexible. I'm putting action, selection, and rare action/selection under "selection" for simplicity.

Battle cry- You hold. YOU HOLD!
Battle cry- wea are just to pretty for God to let us die
Selection- right
Selection- I just wanna get payed
Action- this shouldn't take to long
Party death- it doesn't have to go this way
In city- I can't help thinkin there's something else at work here
Selection- wheel never stops turnin'
Action- we'll be dead. can't get paid if we're dead.
Selection- your mouth is talkin, might want to to look to that
Selection- it's been a long time since patience shot me, and that was due to a perfectly legitimate conflict of interest. I got no grudge.
Selection- if anyone gets nosy just.., you know, shoot em'
Selection- everybody's makin a fuss
Selection-how's business?
Bored- this is not my best day ever
Action- hey, is there a reward?
Target immune- huh
Pickpocket- I'm sorry, was this one for you?
Battle cry- you don't want to go down this road with me, boy
Spell disrupted- makes my life a little for interesting than I usually like.
Trap set- I'm a bad man
Leader- you live by my rule, keep your sister from doin anything crazy... You could maybe find a place here.
Death- I'm thinkin we'll rise again
Stealth- got us some crime to be done

So as you can see, I've got a few, but not a full set, and some are real hard to find. Here's a link to a guide to making custom soundsets, if you don't know already.

*I know it's been a while, but I'll resume work on my custom soundset I promised tommorow, regardless of the interest in this thread.

Paladin kits which is best?

$

So I'm thinking of running a pally, because I hardly ever have the nutters in my party, because I really don't like paladins much. Then I thought hey if I made a pally and made him a half-elf or elf "I use tweaks/SCS, so shhh" and RP'd him as not lawful stupid most of the time, it could be pretty cool. A high dex pally that never wore anything heavier than chain, because he valued mobility over defense."and I value the chain mail elf sprite over the horrible plate mail elf sprite."

Now I'm just trying to figure out which kit to run, I'm leaning toward a Undead Hunter or a Cavalier, because you get enough dispel out of Carsomyr and party mages take care of all the real debuffing anyways. So Inquisitor is not looking so great, True sight is not really worth it, rogues detect illusions is just better.

Also I like the idea of CHARNAME being a hunter of something, undead, demons, dragons it matters not.

I don't want to play a Blackguard, because I'm almost finished a Assassin run and using the OPness that is poison weapon again just doesn't seem fair. Plus I don't feel like doing a evil run.

But all of this is beside the point. So which paladin do you think is best overall?

Come suggest some theme songs for each NPC!

For the music lovers out there!
What songs do you guys think would be fitting for each NPC? Share a tune that fits their character, their story or their attitude.

All suggestions welcome!

I'll begin with some:

Due t his marriage difficulties and his wife's name, I'll give Keldorn "Maria, Maria" by Santana. The pain in his voice when he says "Maria!" after his wife says "What if I don't love you anymore?" is just heartbreaking. Also, Manowar's "Heart of Steel" just describes his attitude toward evil perfectly for me
image
image

Dorn must have some kind of song about being badass and evil. The songs "Bad to the Bone" by George Thorogood would fit, but I'm a big metal fan, so I'll give him Iced Earth's "Pure Evil"
image
image

Eldoth just has to be an outlaw country song, so I either have to go with "Didn't Your Mama Tell ya 'bout Boys Like Me" by Montgomery Gentry or for a better song, Iron Maiden's "Running Free"
image
image

Skie would definitely be the Upper Middle Class spoiled girl who totally thinks she's cool for listening to rrap, so I'd have to give her some Kanye (the go-to artist for these people). She's also the totally non-metal sorority girl who constantly misuses Dio's horn sign while listening to Blink 182

Baldur's Gate Syndrome... A dictionary knows this word

$

I'm in a strong belief the so-called BG Syndrome is what any of us has. But it seems such a word combination exists in an urban dictionary. Although the meaning is a little bit different it is still hilarious.

Baldurs gate syndrome
The act of constantly quick saving while playing an RPG because you played the original Baldurs Gate game which had a tendency to bug out every five or so minutes.
Per: Make sure you save a lot because when I played Operation Anchorage in Fallout 3 the last quest bugged out for me.

Putte: I suffer from Baldurs gate syndrome so I do that all the time.

http://ru.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=baldur's+gate+syndrome

After finding this dictionary I've checked several BG-related words and although it gives the standard meanings to such words as Elminster and Drizzt, as well as the game title itself, some word definitions are just LMAO. Here you go then.

Khalid
Name: Khalid meaning immortal. people with this name are amazingly handsome they have a high intelligence level, and are very well endowled. Khalid's are quite modest. Usually wearing hoodies they can get quite aggresive and kill.
Khalid just took a knife out and killed someone over a slice of cake

http://ru.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=khalid

Drow is "word" spelled backward.

Therefore, a "drow" is a word that becomes a DIFFERENT word, if spelled backward. This is not to be confused with a palindrome, which is a word that reads the SAME backward and forward. Both definitions can be extended to phrases or sentences.

This term was coined by Dr. Benjamin Whang, the father of Suzanne Whang, host of HGTV's #1 show, "House Hunters."
"Stressed" is a drow, because when spelled backward, it becomes "desserts."

"Diaper" is a drow, because when spelled backward, it becomes "repaid."

Demogorgon
De·mo·gor·gon
Function: Noun
1: a: A gay man who acts heterosexual and has leftist leanings b: A gay man who acts heterosexual, usually communist or socialist, with the attitude of an elitest
Man 1: Dude! I totally banged this hot guy today. But, he was talking about state ownership and all of this weird shit...

Man 2: Did he act really fruity?

Man 1: No, he acted almost straight...

Man 2: Dude! You totally banged a demogorgon!

Man 1: Did I, man? Awesome

As I learn more from this forum, I realize how much about the game I didn't know about. There were items, strategies and spells that could have made my life a lot easier against various monsters. There were dialogue options I had never been given. Easter Eggs I never knew about. Etc, etc.

I was interested in seeing this kind of topic ever since my boy @Quartz‌ said that he never made Crom Faeyr. So I made this thread for us all to confess our Baldur's Gate sins. Come and admit that you never completed your stronghold, you've never even heard of Kangaxx, never killed Firkraag or are still dying to know where Hull misplaced his longsword.

I'll begin:

Confession: I have never done the Viconia romance.

Confession: I have never played a thief character.

I don't know about you guys, but becoming the God of Murder for the xyz-th time is reaaally boring. So this kind of got me thinking, tinkering and then my headcanon workshop was running again at full speed: "What kind of deity would *I* become when ascending after the Throne of Bhaal?"

This thread is just for giggles. So feel free to let your silly imaginations roam around. ;)

In my case, it would probably be something like this:
Kamigoroshi
(The Thermae Dweller, Hot Springs Digger, He Who Sleeps In The Tub)
Lesser Power of the Quasi-Elemental Plane of Steam, True Neutral

PORTFOLIO: Baths, hot springs, saunas, purification through cleansing
ALIASES: None
DOMAIN NAME: Quasi-Elemental Plane of Steam / The Floating Rubber Duck
SUPERIOR: Istishia
ALIES: Leira, Eldath, Istishia
FOES: Ilmater, Loviatar, Talona
SYMBOL: A bathtub, or geyser.
HOLY ANIMAL: Geyser Dragon
WOR. ALIGN.: Any

The battle between the numerous spawns of Bhaal had left him utterly exhausted. Much blood, dirt and sweat was still clinging on his body. However, to his dismay the civilization level of Faerûn had yet to reach the knowledge of creating public bathing facilities. Thus, the first thing Kamigoroshi (Kah-MEE-gho-RO-shee) did after ascending to godhood was planewalking to the Quasi-Elemental Plane of Steam and digging up a giant and steaming hot spring. He then soaked in the pleasant water for untold years. By the time Kamigoroshi realized it, Bhaal's portfolio of "Murder" has been washed away and was replaced with "Baths".

Dogma:
At its heart, the Kamigoroshian faith believes that every city, town, settlement and household should have baths and cold drinks. Hot water and steam will wash away stress, ease diseases, allay pain, and purifies the mind. All sects of the Kamigoroshian faith tend to avoid personal combat and direct confrontations in public bathing areas. That is not to say that the faith ignores ill-mannered events going on around them in such facilities. But rather that they work quietly along less-obvious paths to accomplish their goals (such as hardening the comfy chairs of non-believers). Members of the faith are also to follow the path of rinsing their bodies from filth before entering the bathing water.

Day-to-Day Activities:
Keeping bathrooms pure and clean is one major goal of the church, and this responsible long-term goal has made the Kamigoroshians one of the more easily accepted elemental "cults" to visit. Other activities include of creating bathing toys, mixing shampoo, harvesting bathing salt and the invention of waterproof books.

Holy Days / Important Ceremonies:
Each moring for a follower of the Thermae Dweller begins with a quiet, hot bath and tea. Each night ends the same way. There are no fixed holy days within the Kamigoroshian faith, however the church sponsors various bathing festivals in Summer and sauna festivals in Winter.

Priestly Vestments:
Priests of Kamigoroshi dress in turquise-and-violet bathrobes with hot springs symbol decorations for ceremonial occasions.

Adventuring Garb:
Adventuring priests are free to wear whatever clothes they deem appropiate. Though they have at least one swimsuit ready in their backpack for taking a quick dip on the go.

Cleric/Mage (25/20) vs Priest of Talos > Mage (15/27)???

$
0
0
I am aware that the general consensus is that cleric/mage characters are always better multi'd, especially when bringing the cleric/illusionist into the discussion. I have to admit that I am prejudiced against gnomes, and wouldn't want to live without horrid wilting, so I am more interested in discussing whether a vanilla cleric/mage multi truly beats out a cleric (PoT) > mage dual class.

I'm not convinced it does.

Divine spells at cap:

Cleric/Mage multi: 9999973
PoT>Mage dual: 6666421

Arcane spells at cap:

Cleric/Mage multi: 555554332
PoT>Mage dual: 555555544

So yes, the Cleric/Mage will have more spells overall, but by far, most of the extra spells are lower level divine spells that fail to impress. The Cleric>Mage gets twice as many level 9s an extra level 8, two extra level 7s, and an extra level 6.

The Cleric/Mage looks far better when it comes to divine spells, but this is what you give up:

1. PoT kit (Stormshield, Lighting bolt instant cast)
2. More HP. The PoT gets 8HD per level, the Mage/Cleric Multi gets 6HD!!!
3. More of the spells that actually matter (Arcane) and more Mage HLAs.

This is what the Cleric/Mage gets in return:

A few more divine spells and tons more low level divine spells that you won't even waste your time casting.

This is such a blowout in favor of PoT>Mage that I'm not entirely sure I wouldn't take it over the Cleric/Illusionist, either. Especially when you have to give of Horrid Wilting.

Am I missing something, here? The general consensus is that Cleric/Mage multi is better.

I just don't see it. Help me out.

Edit: Oh, and I forgot to mention, your ability score doesn't add to the number of arcane spells you get, but it DOES add to the number of divine spells. And there is 3 tomes in BG and Lum's Machine in BG2 that can give you outrageous wisdom.

So even when you give up the spells by dualing your cleric instead of going with a multi, you will be swimming in lower level spells. No way you will cast them all before you need to rest. A few extra high level divine spells can't be worth all that HP, arcane spells, and PoT abilities.

Best Summary of FR Deity I've Ever Seen

Hey, friends, I've been playing Neverwinter Nights for the past couple of weeks, and I just collected this in-game lore book called "The Time of Troubles", and it gave the best summary of Forgotten Realms Deity I've ever seen, including on any wikis. In fact, the official NWN wiki doesn't even list this book in its woefully incomplete list of books.

So, the most efficient way I can find to share the text of it with all the BG:EE players who have never or may never play NWN, I am going to post the text here. I found it a fascinating reference source, with lots of trivia about the Godswar I had not remembered.

I found it particularly insightful and relevant to BG that Bhaal had no living, breathing, avatar, but rather was weakened by Ao to the point of having only the ability to possess mortals. That explains a lot about various racial bhaalspawn, even the dragon, although, Abazigal and his son would have needed some kind of magical greatly accelerated growth. Perhaps being born of a dragon as a Bhaalspawn causes the offspring to grow at human rates?

Now that I think of it, Bhaalspawn of non-human origin would have needed the magical growth rate anyway, and even the human Bhaalspawn as well, since there is only about ten years in the timeline between the Time of Troubles and the Bhaalspawn saga.

That doesn't bother me, since accelerated growth of monster-spawn and demon-spawn is a fairly well-established trope of sci-fi and fantasy, in various Star Trek episodes and horror movies.

I guess Gorion could have kept Charname's and Imoen's natures hidden from the Candlekeep population by presenting them as 10 or 12 year olds when they were actually only three or four, such that they would appear to the public to be 16-20 years old when they were actually only 10 years old in magical time.

:) I'm stretching to try to fill in this particular set of BG plotholes in relation to the "official" FR timeline.

Nevertheless, this topic is about FR deity, and I found the NWN book summarizing to be very valuable for imagining the divine situation of our crpg's based on the setting, especially the BG Trilogy and Neverwinter Nights.

EDIT: I mentioned in another topic about FR deity that I had not seen Nobanion mentioned in BG or NWN. But, he is in fact mentioned in this lore source as the anti-deity to Malar. I find that very interesting and telling. I should probably worship Nobanion as his cleric or druid, except that I don't think he sponsors druids, only clerics and pallys. (Nobanion is kind of perfect for me since I have a pally-like nature, always worried about duty, order, and the common good, but yet I love cats so much I mostly want to play nowadays as a druid who can get a cat animal companion or a totemist druid who can get a spirit lion.)

Lawful Stupid or Chaotic Ignorant? The Alignment system & who are you?!

Something that I've always wanted to discuss is the D&D alignment system; it's something that I particularly enjoy, especially on the odd occasion where I like to role-play and immerse myself with the other players :)

Anyway, so I at one point used to always be 'that guy', yeah... that's right, the Lawful Stupid. For those who do not know what Lawful Stupid is, it's basically summed up like this: "...A battle we cannot win and possibly out-numbered? Wait... I AM A HERO, I MUST FIGHT. ATTACK!" Albeit, a little level 1 Paladin against 2 3rd level Mages, one of which cast a sleep spell. I rolled. I got very unlucky, to say the least and got my face smashed in with a quarterstaff, karma for you. Playing Lawful Stupid with thieves- oh, that's interesting.

In my opinion, I always believed that Lawful Good did not necessarily have to be played in a stupid fashion, for example, if there was an 'easy way out' so-to-speak, they would still take it, perhaps even to turn a blind eye? But, before I came to that conclusion, I played 'Lawful Stupid'. Having done it all myself, every time I see another character roll a Lawful Good, I have to ask them this one question 'you're not stupid are you?'

ANYWAY, what are your favourite alignments and why? Or which alignments do you detest the most?

This is how we roll.

I was sitting around, pregenerating characters for future runs through BG and IWD (doesn't everyone?), when I realized I'd fallen out of love with min-maxing. So I fiddled around a bit and I came up with a method that produces the characters I want to play.

That's got me wondering about how others roll up their characters. Do you reroll until you get above a certain number? Do you accept the first one out of the gate? Do you set limits on min-maxing?

How do you roll up a character, and why do you do it that way?

Here's what I came up with:

Goal-
I want characters like I used to play in PnP. Exceptional people, but not over the top.

Method-
1. Choose gender, race and class. Note the racial attribute adjustments for the ones I don't already have memorized.
2. Roll until I get a total 80 or over. This is the baseline.
3. Store it and note the individual rolls.
4. I now have 10 rolls to get something better. When I do get something better, I store it and then I have another 10 rolls to beat it. Beating a previous roll doesn't always mean a higher total because...
5. No min-maxing of individual points. I can swap attribute rolls (taking racial adjustments into account), but I can't take points from one attribute and add them to another. If I don't roll an 18, I don't get an 18.
6. Continue the rest of creation as normal.

Results-
Of the 10 characters I've created with this method so far, 2 of them have an 18 and 2 of them top out at 16. Six of them have one or two 17's, though on a couple of them, I took lower overall totals, because I intend to dual-class.

Besides having to be careful about the dual-class, I also noticed that sometimes I can't make swaps on classes like Ranger that have multiple minimum scores. I wanted to swap a high wisdom for a low charisma on an Archer, and I couldn't because of the minimum Wis requirement.

So, am I crazy for putting this much thought into a bunch of numbers, or is this tame compared to what some others are doing?

Mage main pc for bg trilogy

So after a lot of consideration, and minor power gamey single class playthroughs I think I'm going to do a trilogy run (dragonspear included).

I realize there are ideal pc classes that can aquire super low thaco and ac plus spell immunities, but I crave a run through with more arcane spells but without the exploits of a mage multi class or sorceror cheese.

Would a party with 2 tanks, 2 divine casters and 2 arcane casters (main pc and npc) be a fun playthrough?

I'm planning a good playthroug with:

Bg1:
PC conjurer
Minsc
Jaheira
Khalid
Brawhen
Imoen (thief till max traps then dual mage).

Bg2:
PC stI'll conjurer no dual
Minsc
Jaheira
Anomen
Keldorn
Nalia >>> Imoen.

I always waneed to do a playthrough with more magic and any other playthrough would lead inevitably to more power gaming. I just wanna know if the following playthrough is plausible on normal and fun without power gaming stats like an invincible fighter mage or a suoer low thaco kensai etc etc
