With the IWD:EE announced and being released "likely within a month", whats the timeline for BG2:EE 1.3 patch and Android version?

I talked to Roger in the sewers and he asked me to kill a sea troll. Looking at a guide I'm sure that I already killed that troll before doing the quest, when I did the beholder cult quest, but Roger won't acknowledge that.

Any ideas on how can I advance the quest?

Portraits for BG from Pillars of Eternity

In the latest Pillars of Eternity update we finally got a character portrait in a good resolution. It looks gorgeous!

So, no doubt about it: when Pillars of Eternity are out, portraits from that game will more than suit BG.

By the way, the name of this portrait is "pe_portrait_female_human_580" which leads me to dream that we'll have MANY portraits in Pillars of Eternity for PCs and NPCs.

Hi, I'm about to start an OotS BG:EE run, and I thought it might be fun to post about it here and share. Here are my versions of our favorite Burlew toons I've created for this run, along with the new party standing outside Winthrop's Inn:
imageimageimageimageimageimageimage
I've spent most of my remaining gaming time tonight just creating the party, so it'll be tomorrow before I get any playing done that I can journalize.

Xan's Deity

Xan comes from Evereska and their religion is the Seldarine. I don't know if Xan follows any of the Seldarine, but if he did, which would he/she be?

◾Corellon Larethian, greater deity leader of the Seldarine
◾Angharradh, greater deity and consort to Corellon
◾Aerdrie Faenya, intermediate deity of the wind
◾Hanali Celanil, intermediate deity of love
◾Sehanine Moonbow, intermediate deity of the moon
◾Deep Sashelas, intermediate deity of the seas
◾Labelas Enoreth, intermediate deity of longevity
◾Rillifane Rallathil, intermediate deity of nature
◾Solonor Thelandira, intermediate deity of hunting
◾Erevan Ilesere, intermediate deity of trickery
◾Fenmarel Mestarine, lesser deity of outcasts
◾Shevarash, demipower of vengeance

My guess would be either Sehanine Moonbow, because there are a lot of moon elves in Evereska & I imagine moon elves would follow a moon god more than any other. Thoughts?

Concept art? Art assets? Stuff?

So as an artist myself, I really love seeing concept art, story boards, character designs and stuff like this.
I wonder if there is any stuff like this both the devs and the users have available and would feel like sharing here.

Also, I was wondering if the devs would be willing to put together some sort of an "homepage asset pack" based on BG and IWD. I know that some developers do that. It's usually transparent logos and stuff like that people can use for making fanpages and blogs. Wallpapers and stuff would be also nice.

Give me some sugar here ;)

We have a successful You know you're playing too much Baldur's Gate when... thread.

Recently, having seen a post by @terzaerian‌ , another idea of a thread came to me.

So, if BG came out today...

1. Each stronghold would have been a $25 piece of DLC

2. Steam would explode with 1 000 000 000 of people currently playing BG

3. People would name their children "Sarevok" and "Shar-Teel"

4. There would appear 1000+ mods about cars, underwear and bras on the Sword Coast

5. We would have the proper TV series about the Iron Throne

31. You are trying to change your appearance, but you cant find the "customize" button any where.
32. You buy a hamster for the sole purpose of naming it Boo.
33. When it starts to snow/rain/thunder&lightning out, you complain that you can't find the gameplay menu to disable weather.

39. You stand up in the middle of a meeting and start yelling "Less talk and more fight".
40. You are in your car looking at a street map and you can't figure out where to go, because no other sections are highlighted.

So I'm currently playing BG1 with my barbarian Alandra, pictured below.

image

While I know that her appearance is surprisingly alluring for a barbarian, I never expected the sort of reaction that she received from Xan.

Before confronting Mulahey at the bottom of the Nashkel mines, Alandra rescued Xan. Moments later, he interrupted the interrogation of Mulahey to bemoan something about his supposed "friendship" with Alandra.
image

Alandra tried to placate Xan by assuring him that they could continue to be friends, but he seemed to indicate that he wanted something more than just "friendship."
image

Alandra apparently could not hide her discomfort at the situation - and Xan was quick to comment on that as well.
image

It was at this point that Xan outright professed his love for Alandra - despite having just met her only moments before!
image

Then one of the other party members interjected and tried to explain to Xan just how absurd he was behaving. Then Xan, perhaps realizing just how unconformable he had made Alandra, decided to leave the party and disappeared into the night - taking with him all the equipment that he had just been stocked with.
image

Oh yeah, and leaving us to deal with his captor by ourselves.
image

Don't worry Xan, we've got this!
image

I suppose a charname who goes dungeon crawling in a chainmail bikini should get used to this sort of reaction...

Rank the 5 main IE games

$
0
0
BG1, BG2, PS:T, IWD1, IWD2 - how would you rank them in order from your favorite to least favorite?

My list:

1. BG1 - While it used the most prototypical and limited version of the IE, I still believe that BG was the fundamentally best game of the bunch. IMO, it has the most well-balanced mix of story and combat. While challenging, it's balanced in such a way that someone could potentially beat the game using any number of approaches if they're just developed well enough - which greatly enhances the RP aspect of the game, since it allows you the freedom to choose party members as much for their "likability" as for their efficiency. Thanks to subsequent mods and eventually EE, BG1's technical limitations are much less of an issue and it's fundamental greatness can now be even better appreciated.

2. IWD1 - Ideal for anyone who wants a change of pace from BG1 (which happens to be exactly what I'm in the mood for right now, LOL), this visually and musically fantastic game also offers you the chance to create your own custom party without having to worry about RPing any particular personality or background.

3. BG2 - I've already expressed some of my criticism with BG2 in this (somewhat controversial) thread here: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/32657/ive-come-to-feel-that-bg2-is-very-overrated-as-an-rpg/p1 In a nutshell, while BG2 is unquestionably visually/technically superior to BG1, I feel that it also sacrificed much of the fundamental freedoms and RP aspect of the original game. IMO, in sharp contrast to BG1, BG2 is very poorly balanced, with far too much bias toward casting and dispelling magic - it basically forces you to be a magic-oriented powergamer. Perhaps my memory of IWD is a bit hazy, but despite being almost entirely action-oriented, I seem to remember it as being better balanced in this regard. The fact that BG2 basically forces you to outright "cheese" or metagame at certain parts - i.e: when encountering the lich before you can even leave the first city - is also very frustrating for me. Also, despite the pretense of available subquests early in the game, much of BG2 actually feels only slightly less lineal than IWD IMO, since you spend about two-thirds of the game "imprisoned" somewhere and looking for an escape route (i.e: Irenicus' dungeon, Spellhold, the fish city, the drow city, etc.).

4. PS:T - I have to put an asterisk next to this one, because I probably haven't devoted enough time to this game to properly rank it. While it has my favorite music of all the games on this list (Deionarra's theme almost brings tears to my eyes - I've never said that about any other RPG's music), and the most unique setting and characters IMO, the sheer volume of the story's content simply became overwhelming for me. Still, I've been left with an unquenched desire to give the game a more thorough try, but my preoccupation with the current EEs has prevented that. Hopefully, there'll be a PST:EE in the very near future. ;-)

5. IWD2 - Simply put, I just can't get into any 3rd Ed D&D game (which also includes NWN), as I feel that it unnecessarily complicates what (at least in this case) should be a more straightforward action game.

Alright, alright, before you roll your eyes at me and sigh, this perennial discussion seems to have resurfaced over in 'Teh Meme' thread again, with some pretty good suggestions too, so rather than clog that thread up with OT stuff let's gather them all here. (Or of course we could summon Xzar to perform thread necromancy on about a dozen other similar threads!

I'll fire the opening salvo and throw George Clooney as a suggestion for casting as Keldorn Firecam, and the no-brainer of Joe Manganiello as Anomen.

Have at it!

What hobbies do you (or would you) like to practises in the Baldur's Gate Trilogy?

Everyone of us knows that battling numberless enemies, rescuing Damsels in distress, raiding villages to the ground, ect. is quite demanding for both mind and body. But what can we do to replenish the much needed energy for future questing? What changes of scenery does the game offer (or not offer) for us to rest our tired bodies but to still enjoy ourselves?

There are a couple of freetime activities within the games for us and our characters to chill, enjoy some much needed recreation, and forget for a moment the whole Bhaaly thingy going on in Faerûn.

Me? My favourite hobby in the games probably is taking strolls, enjoying the scenery and camp for no particular reason at all. That may be time consuming, but it's still satisfying and refreshing. :)
