Baldur's Gate Jeopardy!

$

Dear Ladies and Gentlehamsters,

welcome to the Reverse Question Thread, or
"Baldur's Gate Jeopardy" if you like.

In this thread I want users to provide answers.
But without any questions asked beforehand.

Instead it works the other way around.
You present answers and the others must find
appropriate questions that fit your given answer.

Example: Answer: "Boo"
Possible Questions: "Who's the cutest miniature space giant hamster?"
"What's the name of Minsc's animal companion?"
"What is Oob spelled backwards?"

Please post only one new answer at a time.
However you may post several questions to all answers given so far in this thread.
Answers and questions have to be Baldur's Gate related.

I'll start first:
Answer: "Plug tails"

Now it's your turn to think of questions that fit that answer or to provide
a new answer.

Have fun!

for clarification: You can provide questions to old, given answers as many as you like.
The rule above just says that you must not provide more than one new answer at a time.

for example: You do not always have to provide a question to the latest answer.
Just provide questions to any previous answers you like.

What would be your stats if?

Your actual self were in the game and how would you lead your life? Please state your alignment even though a thread has been made already, your stats (strength...) and your class that fits the most with your stats and personality. Feel free to provide some explanations. And be fair, remember you need at least 15 strength to be able to wear a full plate mail and fight with it which isn't common at all :)

As for me...

Alignment : Neutral Good

strength : 11 (I would definitely be crippled wearing a plate, but I do boxing so I am still fit)

dexterity : 15 (one of my strongest asset)

constitution : 14 ( I don't have more hp than anyone else but i never get sick and recover pretty fast)

intelligence : 12 (not bad not good but slightly above average I believe)

wisdom : 15 (that we can't take it away from me)

charisma : 12 (I have my moments)

class : fighter/druid

It's not my style to specialize only in one thing, I like to be able to defend myself in melee combat but I am also ethical and nature buddy, so I would gladly make a career in divine spell.

High chances I would live as a nomad seeking knowledge and new experiences.

Random thoughts on the Randomizer

So in my next play-through of BG1 I'm nervously taking the dive into SCS (we'll see what kind of disaster this turns out to be lol). I'm skeptical but I'm sold on the quality of it just from studying the readme file. What I'm not so sold on is the Randomizer. I LOVE the idea in principle. What could give the game more longevity than randomizing the loot?? But then as I was crafting the Flail of the Ages in BG2 this morning, I thought to myself, "What happens to this in a randomized game??" It seems like many situations in the BG Saga are set up half expecting you to have certain items at your disposal. It's meant to add challenge and surprise, but I have to wonder....is the Randomizer simply a good idea in theory, or does it actually live up to it's potential when actually used??

jaheira and level 2 spells

What do you use her level 2 spell slots for? I can't find much of a good use for any of them.

Barkskin - short duration and her AC is always better than the spell anyway
Charm Person - not terrible, but pretty situational, and eventually becomes almost obsolete
Find Traps - really?
Flame Blade - not really any better than Shillelagh, especially since it's considered non-magical
Good Berry - the only thing weaker than healing potions and a waste of inventory space, too
Know Aligment - I don't care
Resist Fire/Cold - worth it when I can start sling fireballs, but I only need one or two of these, tops
Slow Poison - I have antidotes (that I never even use up) for that

Why Worship an Evil Deity?

I'm rolling a fighter/cleric and I would like to use that human leather armor for the extra saving throws. The problem is I can't imagine why anyone in FR would worship an evil deity.

I understand some people are mainly interested in gaining power but it seems like the after life with an evil deity is brutal.

Why would someone worship a deity like Talos or Shar when it seems like you would eventually get punished for it?

Could someone worship a deity like Talos and refrain from destruction? Maybe just out of the beauty of a storm?

Any suggestions on what deities an evil char name without being truly "EVIL?"

Thanks!

Battle Horrors at DT

I'm kinda tired of Jah still using a measly club (she has club**, scimitar**, and sling*), so I thought I'd pop over to DT to get her that +2 scimitar on the roof. Of course, that means I have to get past the Battle Horrors at the beginning.

I don't seem to remember it being this hard. Minsc (level 5), who is set up to be my striker is DW Greywolf's sword and a +1 long sword, and isn't even hitting them on a roll of 18. Jah and Khalid don't have magical weapons, so they can't do much even if they could hit. My cleric/mage can toss MM, CO, and AA at the thing, but not enough to kill it. I even tried using the Wand of Frost I found, but it did only 3 damage (from 8d6). What's left to do?

So, yeah... I was in ToB hunting Bhaalspawn and I found myself facing a really pompous dragon, who was disguised as a human.
Then this happened. :D

Baldur's Gate Incanitations

I've recently been looking for the incantations for the first Baldur's Gate game. I always end up reading a discussion for the Baldur's Gate 2 incantations. I understand how people are so interested in them, but come on, let's be honest, the ones in the original game sounded much cooler. Actually, someone did started a discussion about this. Sadly the user did not get his or her answers.

So does anybody have any clue?

Cav vs. Cleric/Wild Mage

I've been playing two runs concurrently. One with a Cleric/Illusionist (that I will switch to a Cleric/Wild Mage in BG2 using SK) and the other with a Cav. I don't want to keep switching between games, but I'm still having trouble deciding which run to finish.

The Cav (with Jah, Minsc, Yoshi/Imoen, and Aerie): Great front liner. He's really a one man wrecking crew. In a way, this is a bad thing, as I want to play a more team-oriented game. One of his pros are that he'll be able to use Lilarcor in BG2 (my favorite weapon in the game) until get gets the holy avenger. In general, I like the fighter bling over the mage bling, so I'm more interested in gearing him up than my cleric/illusionist. I'd have him on Two-handers, Minsc dual wielding, and Jah on scimitar/club and shield until the better staffs become available. He's not a good team player, though. He's a better tank than Jah and only a slightly worse striker than Minsc. The way this plays out is that Jah ends up hanging out and I end up tearing up everything, occasionally with Minsc's help. On some maps, I just send the paly around to take out everything if I'm not feeling patient. Also, if I keep him, I have to take Aerie for BG2, as this party doesn't have a controller and she's the best (aside from a properly built charname). Taking Aerie, in my book, is a con, as she's so annoying. Still, the paly is much more uber than the C/WM, and he gets a lot more play (see below).

Cleric/Wild Mage (with Jah, Minsc, and Yoshi/Imoen): Definitely more of a team player. For BG2, the core party is just going to be Jah (tank), Minsc (striker), and him (controller). I'll also have Yoshi as a trap monkey until I get Imoen back. With these three, I have the team synergy trifecta. However, most encounters are just Jah drawing aggro and Minsc dancing around the melee chopping things up (max DW), while my guy is just hanging out. Or, if it's an easy map, Minsc just runs around all choppy-choppy. All it took was a single prot. from pet. spell and he cleaned out the basilisk map all by himself (minus the Kirian party encounter). The C/WM only needs to get play for the more challenging encounters, so it's kinda boring most of the time. The harder the fight, the more fun the C/WM is. With a hard fight, the C/WM is more fun than the paly, but those are pretty much just the occasional boss battles.

So, how about voting to help me make a decision on this? :D And, if you care to explain your choice, I'd like to hear it.

question on jaheira romance and cluaconsole

Need help on getting jaheira romance to trigger. I unintentionally started aerie's romance first then kicked aerie out of party because of this and completed all of jaheira's harper quests. I added aerie back to party afterwards. I am now out of the underdark and have yet to see any dialogue from jaheira or aerie. Is there a cluaconsole command I can use to rectify this? Also my char is neutral good elf ranger...

Hexxat died in the fight in the clearing and I didn't get chance to pick up her equipment before being teleported away. I assumed that I would be able to go back later and get it back, but when I got teleported back all the items on the ground had disappeared. Is there a way to get it back? It wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't lost Dragomir's cloak.

"We're All Doomed" - a thread covering Blackraven's Charnames' attempts at No-Reload Trilogy runs :D

Hey folks, I've decided to just use a single thread, this one, to report on the progress I make with different Charnames in my SCS No-Reload playthroughs. So far they just keep on falling, in early SoA at the latest, which is why I think it sensible to use a single thread instead of starting one or two new ones every week.

Most of the time I play a heavily modded version of the game, still BGT rather than EE as there are a couple of non-EE mods that I'm quite attached to (such as Item Randomization, Hard Times, Song & Silence, aTweaks).

Some of my playthroughs are heavily role-played whereas others can be seen more as technical/tactical... experiments, and may be more metagamed, though I do generally stick to Charname's alignment and personality. Other rules I tend to apply is to not abuse resting (which makes playing a spellcaster a bit more challenging), to give all creatures in the game including Charname and party members full hitpoints at level up as I don't like the 'luck factor' there, and to play no-reload. I still have a few savegames of fallen Charnames and I often tell myself I'll pick those games up again, but somehow I always end up rolling a new Charname. I might be convinced though by readers to go minimal-reload if they think a character was particularly interesting to read about.

OBITUARIES
Other Charnames you might have read aren't included here because they never died. My playthroughs with Aya the Avenger and Grynne the 2nd (Half-Orc Wizard Slayer) are lost due to game crashes and simplified re-installs, with less mods. I kind of gave up on Serene (Half-Elf Beast Mistress) after a bug at near death status, but strictly speaking she never died.
† Nelsy †
CG Halfling Bounty Huntress
Date of Death: Unknown
Cause of Death: Insta-killed by Jenkal’s backstab.
Nelsy was a friendly, kind-hearted and naive young Bhaalspawn. She died a premature death in Gullykin where she had wanted to meet more of her (Halfling) kind and make some friends. The villagers all received her amiably and one, Alora, had even joined her, much to Nelsy's joy, until Jenkal ended her bliss. Maybe she was a bit too soft to be a successful Bhaalspawn or even adventurer.

† Elloysia †
CN Gnome Transmuter
Date of Death: Unknown
Cause of Death: Shoal’s kiss of death proved that not only males have to be wary of Nereids.
Elloysia was an aspiring young mage, and a very unlucky one at that as she could only cast Alteration spells. Would a wider range of spells have saved her though? Probably not.

† Teyl the 1st †
NE Halfling Priest of Cyric/Thief (solo)
Date of Death: Unknown
Cause of Death: Charmed by Hareishan in the Cloakwood Mines.
Truth be told Teyl was a bit of a jerk: a double-crossing, conniving little trickster who was only out for himself and expected no less of others. Many would underestimate the sneak due to his unimpressive physique, his dapper appearance and the absence of friends surrounding let alone protecting him, but that’s exactly how he liked to work.

† Teyl the 2nd †
NE Halfling Priest of Cyric/Thief (solo)
Date of Death: Unknown
Cause of Death: PW Stunned by Rayic Gethras and subsequently slain by the wizard’s MMMs.

† Grynne the 1st †
LN Half-Orc Wizard Slayer
Date of Death: Unknown
Cause of Death: Fainted in Mulahey’s Stinking Cloud and finished off by the latter's ‘improved’ Battle Horrors
With her honesty and her sense of honor Grynne could have been a Paladin if only she had been human, and probably a bit less suspicious of magic. She distinguished herself as a merciless hunter of evil arcane magic users, and had difficulty staying her hand even against non-evil casters.

† Gylliane the 1st †
TN Elf Swashbuckler/Mage
Date of Death: Unknown
Cause of Death: Webbed by Kysus at the Cloakwood Mine entrance and finished off by the latter and two of his Ogrillon minions
Gylliane was a typical ‘what you see is what you get type of girl’, turning heads wherever she went with her elven beauty and very no-nonsense in her dealings with others: courteous when she could, ruthless when she had to.

† Gylliane the 2nd †
CG Elf Swashbuckler/Mage (solo)
Date of Death: Unknown
Cause of Death: Unknown. During the final showdown she had already taken down Angelo and was gaining the upper hand against Tazok when all of a sudden she instantly died. One theory is that Semaj successfully petrified her, but it’s something we’ll never know.

† Lenno †
CN Halfling Swashbuckler
Date of Death: Unknown
Cause of Death: Combination of (modded) Traps and Flesh Golems at Alaric’s Cave
Flamboyant, risk-prone and with an unmatched talent to choose the wrong friends and generally fail at missions, Lenno was unlikely to live a long and healthy life. Even so, his unfortunate death in a pirate cave came disappointingly early.

† Ocker †
NG Dwarven Skald
Date of Death: Unknown
Cause of Death: Charmed and death-kissed by Shoal.
Ocker was a good Dwarf, noble of heart. A brave warrior poet who took his role as the leader of an adventuring party very seriously, Ocker would inspire his companions with his battlesong but suffered when he saw his friends in trouble, causing him to step into battle ill-prepared on more than one occasion. His valor in the end also meant his death.

† Vallon †
LG Human Undead Hunter
Date of Death: Unknown
Cause of Death: Panicked, cornered and slain by TorGal at Nalia’s Keep.
Vallon combined his outstanding fighting prowess with an impeccable moral integrity, and a humble disposition he often found lacking in fellow Paladins. He singlehandedly saved the Sword Coast from the brute Sarevok and was already making a name for himself in Amn before mind-altering magic ended his life.

Creating a Swashbuckler/Mage using EEKeeper

$

Hi,

I know there have been a few threads on this topic in the past, but I have not been able to get this to work. I am trying to create a multiclassed Swashbuckler Mage to use throughout the saga. However, whenever I fiddle with EEKeeper the character just defaults to a normal Mage/Thief multiclass on level up. Is there a way to set up the character in EEKeeper so that he levels up as a Swashbuckler for its Thief levels normally without having to manually change stats at each level up? Thanks for the help!

What kind of familiar would *you* become?

$

By a strange twist of fate you are forcefully teleported into the mids of the Baldur's Gate Trilogy. Stranger still is that you're not even a person anymore... but an familiar; summoned by some greenhorn spellcaster you never met or heard of before. Life sucks!

The rules are simple: choose the familiar which would most likely represent your personality, habits, or any other connection you may feel between yourself and your soon-to-be alter ego and vote for it. That's all!
Please note that the choices presented within this poll are not meant to be influenced by whether special abilities they have at their disposal in the games. So don't let them hinder your choice. ;)

To the Roleplayers amonst us: Feel free to slip even deeper into the role of those buggers by conjuring a little side story to share with others. Or drop a line as to why you did vote for whatever creature you made if you feel like it. The choice is yours!

In my case, I'd probably become a Dust Mephit... summoned up by some good-for-nothing Transmuter in the middle of nowhere. Not because I smoke, mind you (I don't... at least not anymore). But more like due to their grim and yet humorous outlook on life. There would be so many opportunities to display my sarcastic, black humour in such an situation.
And from the looks of it they seem to appreciate coffee and black tea. So there's that too!
