Hexxat Quest Problem (Spoilers)

It's already been several days since I took Hexxat in my party. After finishing the crypt and recruiting her at a certain point she had a conversation where she said her employer were going to contact us eventually to give us another job. After that i finished couple smaller quests in Atkhathla, then i did the De'Arnise hold quest, after that i cleared the Windspear Hills area and vanquished Firkraag.
Back in Atkathla i had enough gold to speak with the thief, and so chapter three started.
So at this point what i'm wondering is if it's normal that it's taking so long for Hexxat's questline to move to the next part ? Am I missing something, or it just have a long timer ? I think i remember reading somewhere that some girl was going to approach the pary back in Atkathla, but i've started to wonder if there's something broken or bugged. Any hint would be appreciated :)

Fighter/Cleric or Fighter/Mage who would win???

It's an interesting thought if you could put a Fighter/cleric and Fighter/mage in a arena and see who comes out. Who do you think would win????

Cleric/Mage

So I started a new game today with a cleric/mage. I EEKeepered my kit to wild mage and. to my suprise my divine spells were affected by a wild surge! I casted a command spell only to have it surge to a color spray. I thought that was very cool, certainly adds even more flavour to the multiclass.

Going for a "balls to the wall" SCS2+ tactics insanity run. Id welcome powergaming advice

I will be a Tactics Anti-Paladin. Ill be facing untold cheeses, so I might as well play a cheesy class.
The biggest issue which has stopped me from starting the game for a whole day now is: should i Go for a human AP and dual to either mage or thief, or go Half orc pure class.

If I am to dual, it will be at level 13. I will be using a corrupted Soul Reaver+6 version of Carsomyr courtesy of the item upgrade mod, so that this beautiful weapon's 50 MR wouldnt go to waste.
Also, how does the dispel on hit on the sword work with the AP's own dispel on hit? Does it dispel 2 buffs per attack, or what is the deal with that?

The party will be valen, solaufein, viconia as a fighter/cleric, whatever sorcerer i pick from kelsey, tashia or adrian and the last spot will go to what I call "debuff monkey" its a dual or multi classed wizard whose entire spellbook is dedicated to breaching, piercing, dispeling, hasting and staying alive. Normally that role is filled by jansen untill i get ahold of Imoen.

Sequencers and continggencies are a big issue too. So far i just stick 2 pierce magics in them + 1 breach (or similarily themed anti-magic) and use them for exploding enemy mages before they can figure out whats going on, which doesnt seem like an optimum way to fill them.
I will be doing the tactics, chosen of Cyric and solaufein challenges, so thats something to plan around.

One thing to mention is that i dont have Spell Revisions installed, as I did not feel like getting to know and planning around an entirely diferent magic system.

Normally at high level special encounters what i do with my arcane spell casters is: blow all avaiable tiem stop+ dragon breaths, then proceed to focus on survival, as most mod scripted Ai goes tooth and nail for the mages.

I really feel like i could be doing more with them.

So this is it. Id welcome any and all tips on how to handle this.

EDIT: I should probably point out that im playing the Original BG2, not the EE version.
Its just that i couldnt find any active forums for the vanila

Irenicus in ToB

just had a random thought

Wouldn't it be way better if Irenicus was written into ToB and was the one behind killing the bhaalspawn instead of Melissan? Irenicus should of had a brother who was written into SoA and aided him at Spellhold and Suldanessellar. He would be the final SoA fight while Irenicus escapes so you have some sense of conclusion yet still a sense of this isn't over yet.

The ToB story line seems to come up short for many people in terms of captivating them in a nostalgic sense - In my opinion Melissan is far too dull of a character to be the final straw of the entire series.

Irenicus should of been the last stand, the last hurrah, the kiss to send us off since he is the greatest villain to ever be conceived. Sure it might take away from the magic that is SoA as a whole but would lengthen the nostalgia through BG2 in it's entirety

Thoughts?

Neera is now a man! Wild Surges and you!

So I'm playing BG2:EE and Neera wild surged into a bloke. I'm not romancing her so not a problem for me as a female PC but I'm surprised she hasn't reacted to it! Also is this a permanent effect? I seem to remember with main PC chars it is.

What interesting wild surge effects has everyone else experienced?

I'm sure we all agree Baldur's Gate is loaded with highly memorable quotes. Which one is your favorite?

"A cutthroat in every alley, but I’ll not let them take us alive!" As remarked in urban environments by my favorite bats**t insane necromancer in world, Xzar:3

Ok, so I just noticed something. Assuming a blind/noob run, your rough path will be...
...Escape from Casa del Jon (accepting all the help you can get along the way)... Ooh, a big circus tent, I wonder what's in there... toddle over to the slums... follow Gaelan's kid to stronghold quest...

Following this path, you get:

1) Charname
2) Minsc (Ranger)
3) Jaheira (Fighter/Druid)
4) Imoen (Thief>Mage) [Yoshimo (Bounty Hunter)]
5) Aerie (Cleric/Mage)

Which is pretty balanced: two healers, one stealer, two mages and one who rages. :)
And..
6) Additional NPC as determined by class-specific stronghold quest.

So if Charname is:
Mage >you get> Valygar (Stalker)
Cleric >> Keldorn (Inquisitor)
"Warrior" >> Nalia (Thief>Mage)
Thief >> Edwin (Conjurer)
Ranger >> Mazzy (Fighter)
Bard > Haer'Dalis (Blade)
Druid >> Cernd (Shapeshifter)
Paladins >> Anomen (Fighter>Cleric)

All of which end up with a fairly balanced party with a strong theme. (Admittedly a thief is probably going to have to ditch Minsc at some point. But Boo wouldn't want him mixing with such nefarious folk anyway... And a bard might face some "competition".)

Just sharing a thought, and wondering if this is a developers' nod to a class-dependant-canon party...

How often do you rest?

Just wondering about peoples resting routines and if people have fixed requirements for as and when they can rest. Personally I tend to keep it pretty minimal - something I noticed especially on my current solo run where I've only just received the DUHM power in the lead up to the final battle...

Why do you play your alignment?

This is more an open question as to why people roleplay good/neutral/evil alignments.
I personally play a good alignment as, while I now they are just pixels and programs, I never feel right being a dick for the sake of it. I don't do it in real life and so I don't feel right doing it in a game. it just isn't me and i don't enjoy it.
Although the renegade path in mass effect is a lot more fun it isn't a bad guy. should any sequels be coming would people rather see a mass effect alignment system or stick with the classic model?

Can you take your time making progress?

I searched the internet and didn't find an answer to my exact question, but is there some kind of limit on how long a player can take getting through the story? I am already at around 7 days and not even to Nashkel yet, and Jaheira is already complaining. Is there ever any negative (or less positive?) ramifications for taking one's sweet time progressing?

And lastly, do enemies in future chapters scale according to level or are they a set value? I don't want to take my time only to have the game be too easy.

Thanks.

Struck by lightning, twice!

My fighter/mage just got *twice* struck by lightning (from the weather, not a spell) on the Valley of the Tombs map within the space of about a minute in real time, she was wearing plate mail at the time - 25 points damage each hit, though luckily she had 50 HP and Viconia managed to cast Cure Medium Wounds in-between! Never had that happen before (not twice, anyway), though I could see the funny side!

So how many versions of the game do you own?

$

Looking back, I spent a lot of money on this game... My buying history:

Original BG1 (not completed at that time, Planescape came out soon after and took all attention)
Original BG2
Original ToB expansion
Collector's edition of the complete saga (when my son was born I bought one to make sure I have a second copy to play multiplayer with him when he grows up... :) )
GoG BG1 (we moved to India and my CDs are in storage, DSL too slow here for online games so it was back to the classics)
GoG BG2+ToB
BG1EE ipad (which sucks in my opinion)
BG1EE Mac (even though my GoG is running well on bootcamp but I want to support Mac game development)
BG2EE Mac (ditto)
coming after next patch BG2EE Win (my son is now 8, it is time! :) )
probably BG2EE ipad when it's out for solo runs when travelling (can't stand parties on the ipad interface)

So that's 5 versions of BG1 and already 4 BG2 with 2 more coming. I think I should gate a rebate. :)

Actually I think there would be good demand for a multi-platform license...

Anyone can beat that? :)

Worst thing you've done to an NPC

What's one of the worst thing's you've done to an NPC? You know, leave Imoen in Spellhold (don't deny it, you wanted to leave her at least once), ask Maple Willow Aspen about her parents' tree fixation, that sort of thing.

Cleric Tanks - what spells??

Hello all - I love the idea of having my cleric tank big bosses and random encounters...but i'm curious what makes them so effective? I guess i really need help with spell choices!! What do you use that makes your Cleric a super effective tank?

Incorporating Fighter/Mage/Druid

I would like this multiclass added, along with others of the same ilk--mage/druid and etc. I just like to play characters I have played in the past. The first iteration of the Baldur's Gate 1 book had this class listed as a viable class to choose. I think it would make things more interesting. It doesn't seem like it would take much to do this. Any thoughts on if this was probable?

I need recommendations on assigning armor

The two characters that come to mind is Khalid and Montaron

First Question, Khalid with Splint Mail or should I give him the Plate Mail?

Second Question, Montaron with leather based armor or should I give him chainmail based armor?

What should overhaul do next?

So BG1 and BG2 now both have an enhanced edition.

We will see the inevitable patches in the coming months, but now Overhaul is drifting directionlessly in the black void of post-development uncertainty.

Clearly only you and I can solve this existential dilemma. So what is the answer?

Should they:
1. Continue producing large amounts of post launch content for both games of breathtaking scale?
2. Start enhancing another infinity engine game?
3. Start enhancing another D&D game?
4. Start enhancing another game?
5. Stop enhancing games, and start making their own games which they may or may not be able to enhance another 12 years down the line?
6. Start making Baldur's gate 3?
7. Start making what is basically Baldur's gate 3, but not actually called Baldur's gate 3?
8. Start making an entirely new D&D game?
9. Start making an entirely new rpg?
10. Start making an entirely new game?
11. Something else?
