iOS 1.2 Restore Store Purchases

Hi, I've purchased all the items in the store on the iOS version and just updated to 1.2. Now the problem is, I went into the game and it's flashing the purchases with "buy" again. I don't want to click purchase in case I get double charged. What do I do to restore my purchases? Thanks in advance.

The Ultimate Black Pits Party!...?

Okay, I don't really think this is the ultimate Black Pits party, but it's one that I'm working on that I think is pretty good. I want to share, and welcome comments and constructive feedback to improve. It took a VERY long time to roll these attributes. I did it a little at a time over several days. Without further ado, here is Kearth's evil pit band:

1. Kearth Berenthal – LE Half-Orc Blackguard – Greatsword, Crossbow
Attributes: 19, 17, 19, 8, 15, 18
(I had to create him as a human and EEKeeper him to Half-Orc, then subtract 2 INT and raise STR and CON by one. If Dorn can do it, why can't I. I'd like to find a non-Dorn male half orc portrait that matches the BG2 art style, but thus far Dorn is by far the best I've found.)
image

2. Dregeth – LE Dwarven Defender – Axe and Shield, Bow
Attributes: 18/00, 17, 19, 14, 18, 7
image

3. Alor Goran – NE Human BerserkerX/Cleric – Flail and Shield, Sling
Attributes: 18/78, 18, 18, 10, 18, 11
image

4. Marianis Fohr’ian – CE Drow Fighter/Thief – Longsword/Shortword TWF
Attributes: 18/63, 19, 17, 16, 10, 14
(She is actually an Elf made to look Drow, since I can't select Drow)
image

5. Leath’laniel – NE Elven Fighter/Mage - Longbow, Bastard Sword
Attributes: 18/23, 19, 16, 18, 13, 10
image

6. Christiana – LE Human Dragon Disciple - Sling/Staff
Attributes: 18, 18, 18, 10, 10, 17

How un-enemy the keeper of portal at candledeep

hi everyone!

In the very start of the game (when i was leaving candledeep), i attacked the keeper of the portal just for fun. now i came back from chapter 6 and got stuck at him - seems permanently enemy.

I cant manage to kill him, not even with venom dagger nor poison arrows or any magics (charm, friend, stink cloud, hold, whatever...). And I don't think kill him would solve anything.

As I don't want to restart the WHOLE game, could anyone help me out? even with cheats or whatever. I just want to keep the play.

ty!!

Someone please teach me how to use a high-level mage!

Or send me to a guide. I am horrible with mages, though I often have multiple in my party. I usually just stoneskin/mirror image myself, magic missile, fireball, skull trap, horrid wilt and then comet everything I see like a doofus, use a couple sequencers, and hope for the best. It works but I feel like I'm missing out on a lot (barely even use time trap, lol)

People seem to live by things like polymorph self, tensers transformation, etc. I didn't even use improved acuity that much. I don't really know when/how to use all the non-direct-damage spells, so if someone can just make some suggestions for those I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks guys!

EE NPCs soundsets. Why they don't have most of the soundsets?

I've mentioned this before, like Rasaad or Dorn never react on a reputation change.
Well, take a look for yourself.

Ajantis soundsets for example:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

And Rasaads for example:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Why the lack?
Are this game reaction hardcoded or the devs have just forgotten about this strings?
Or they don't have money for the voice actors? =)

Enhanced? Nope. Baldur's Gate I & II: Tweaked Edition is what we actually got.

First off this isnt a hate thread. I actually like what been done here,, but in no way are they deserving of the title "Enhanced". They are in no way bad. Far from it in fact, but both stand as prime examples of wasted opportunity.

- The UI is still clunky and absolutely no effort was put in to make it more functional and user friendly.
- The Graphics have seen very little work (actually did a side by side with my GOG editions, and the so called improvements are either so subtle as to be virtually unnoticeable, or actually non existent).
- Sound is virtually untouched (although env effects do seem slightly better)
- New NPCs are ok, but add no value and certainly dont improve the game in any way.
- The Black Pits are insulting. Vapid pointless garbage that was nothing but a waste of time, money, and effort. their inclusion is an embarrassment, and not worthy of anyone's time (either developer or player). The time wasted on these pieces of dross would be better spent on enhancing, bug fixing, and polishing the core game.

The things that should have been done have not even been attempted, and before anyone replies with "they couldnt", ALL of these things could be done.

1: New UI. Modular, and enhanced with a cleaner interface and improved functionality (e.g expanding widows, improved hover interaction, moveable segements, and resizable). Maybe animated portraits, or some other visual polish.

2: Improved sprites. While making them 3D meshes to work in game would be asking a bit much, someone actually redesigning and polishing the sprites should have been a no brainer. The omission is frankly unacceptable. Some new animations at LEAST should have been included.

3: Improved spell effects. See above.

4: Improved backgrounds. While the original artwork is still amazing, there could have been some additional work in adding some flair to the animated sections, again though nothing was done.

5: Improved FMV's. The utterly appalling low rent motion comics in BG1 were a real low point, and the untouched movies from BGII is just lazy (or maybe erring on the side of caution after the response to the first game). Having the team create new fully animated hi rez versions of the original movies should have been a priority.

5: Player Character assets. many more portrait and voice options should have been included.

I am extremely grateful that the game works "out of the box" on my Win8 machine, and the native widescreen support and the Zoom ability are fantastic. The new kits are great, and all the rule fixes and refinements are also hugely appreciated.

There are other minor things I would have loved to see, but they're a personal preference thing, and not things I would expect to see, despite being things I would have liked to see.

I reviewed BGIIEE for GP and gave it 9/10. 8.75 of that is because Baldur's Gate II is still an amazing game, the other .25 is for the tweaks made. This could have been more though, and no one should be looking at this as how to enhance a classic game. Failing to do the minimum should not be rewarded.

I understand that a lot of hard work and real effort went in to these games, and I sincerely appreciate it, for the most part what was included is exceptional. Its what isnt here that I take issue with. You had an opportunity to REALLY make an impact, and you didnt. Mine like many other positive reviews highlight that the majority of that positive score is due to the core game and not the "enhancements". In fact many share my opinion that there isnt actually enough in here to earn the title Enhanced Edition. This is just one man's opinion though, and many people love everything you've done, I only wish I could feel the same way. When you're charging over twice the asking price of the vanilla editions, you better be backing that up with something worth that extra cash... that sadly isnt the case at this time.

What we have here is a strong base, now build some enhancements on that base and deliver the Enhanced experience that the game deserves, and I know you're capable of.

BG2EE: Neera's quest (SPOILERS)

SO I have made my way to the Red Wizards' hideout in the Promenade. I tried to enter the slave pens (well through the door with the two guards) with the Gul Dukeem and this fellow appears and says I'm trying to end their operation, and then everybody attacks me. Behind the door, there are about twenty(!) dudes trying to kill me. I really can't nuke 'em with Cloudkill or such because there's a neutral bartender there, and if you accidentally kill him, it will lower your reputation by eight! Is this even supposed to happen? I've tried to sneak my way to slave pens but there's nothing you can really do.

What are your experiences with this quest? What did YOU do?

There's a lot of clicking to do before you can play

So, first I click on the icon. Then I click "Launch" in the launcher. Then I have to click "Shadows of Amn". Then I have to click to bypass the cinematic. Then I have to click "Continue" on the "new adventures" page. Then I have to click "single player". Then I have to click "Load game" (incidentally on the other side of the screen as well). Then finally I can click "load" and start playing.

Surely there could be a way of going directly into "Load Game"? Or perhaps even a button with "Continue playing" that loads the latest save game.

I've nitpicked about this before, but it's even worse now in BG2EE! Brilliant game otherwise of course :)

How are ya'll recording Let's Plays?

I'm considering recording a Let's Play of me running through BG1EE and/or BG2EE for Youtube. I'm considering my options on how to do this and get a clean/clear look/sound for my viewers. I'm using a Mac Air. Any advice on what to use to do this? Thanks.

BIG FAT EDIT on 02.12.2013
Adding information on the first page for ease of finding it:
How to use portraits:
Make sure that they are properly sized and named - the name has to have less than 8 characters, and end with letters L, M, S, for sizes 210x330, 169x266 and 54x84 respectively. Also make sure that they are saved as .bmp files with 24bit color depth.

Once you have the portraits appropriately formatted and named, you need to put them in My documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\Portraits folder. If there's no 'Portraits' folder in this location, just create one.
Once there's a 'Portrait' folder with some portraits in it, the 'custom portrait' button in the character creation screen will appear, and you can pick your custom pics under it.
There's an exception - if your pics are named after existing NPCs (NeeraL, BranweL, MontarL, XanL, etc (note that longer names are shortened)), the game treats them as default portraits for those NPCs. They will replace the original ones in-game, and they'll be available among the default pic selection, instead of the original ones.

About our dropbox: Apparently, the thread regarding it got deleted because of several cases of plagiarism. The dropbox itself still is out there, though. I hope this link works: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gsn24bgwwu0gyqw/bV-5phrjwu login: tc@hotmail.com, password: dropbox
Remember to COPY pics from the dropbox. If you just drag them to a folder on your HDD, they will be removed from the dropbox and noone else will be able to use them.

BIG FAT EDIT on 14.03.2013
Adding information on the first page for ease of finding it:
For those of you who want to use any of my portraits: I uploaded them to @TiaxRulesAll dropbox. (Read his thread http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/8413/bgee-custom-portraits-dropbox-lets-compile-them-all-here-1300-sets-now-with-soundsets-section/p1 to learn how to get them). Folder with my pics is named 'Portraits (Syntia13)'. Below you'll find a chart with subtitled portraits - if you like one, go to the aforementioned dropbox and search the aforementioned folder for 3 files with names corresponding with the subtitle of your chosen pic. Have fun! :)

ORIGINAL POST:

Just as it says on the [former] title. I suffer for want of my game, so I'll make sure you'll suffer, you'll ALL suffer, MWAHHAHAHHA! And I'll do so with 'art'. As I am an avid fan of the BG2 portrait style, I'm trying for getting as close to it as I can, but, yeah, it's not exactly easy, and I'm no artist, so, you've been warned. I'm going to keep posting more pictures as I make 'em. Here is one new and a few you might have already seen posted on a different thread (put here just for the sake of completion). If after I'm done with all the BG1 NPC portraits BG:EE still isn't out, I'm gonna scar you all even more with my pet project - pictures of what would they all look like after putting on that innocent looking, unidentified magical girdle. ]:D
I'll start gently:

Alternate Viconia - features changed to fit more with what Jaheira's and Aerie's pics established as elvish features. Skin color changed because I like black drows better than blue drows (although from the description someone posted, the drow skin does have a purple or blue tone to it, so the original pic isn't wrong, per se, it just isn't to my taste). Cloak and sky color changed just because. :) Original to the left, tweaked version to the right, for sake of easy comparison.
image

My fav PC, Karrion - glued together from at least five different pictures - hopefully you won't be able see any of Frankenstain's Monster in him. ;)
image

Nathaniel, from the mod. I like this mod, but none of the available pictures were quite appealing enough for me, so I messed with the one I liked best and did this:
image

Lady Malica, the evil halfling. If you care to insult her, do remember - she has darts hidden all over her person, AND her teeth are level with your groin. ]:)
BG1picture edited to get rid of the green light, alter her expression and trim the ears a bit, then a lot of other stuff added. (From the character creation screen, halflings are supposed to 'look mostly like small humans', and it was said elsewhere on the board that they do not, in fact, have pointy ears, but... I like pointy ears! So she has them).
Original to the left, tweaked version to the right, for sake of easy comparison.

ETA next patch? A plea for fast release cycles

Hello,
any info when the next patch is coming out? Kudos for the first quick patch to address the memory leak issue. I think most of us here would prefer a relatively quick patch release cycle that tackles the most glaring issues and low hanging fruits instead of a long long wait for the big bug squasher of death.

Boxed-product wise, I don't see retail working well. I see the demand as not uniform and hard to meet with a blanket retail approach.

All I can find out is that he was sent by his teacher along the Sword Coast to 'enlighten' people. Being a gnome, are there many/any gnomic settlements along the Sword Coast? I seem to recall there being an island to the west that was full of gnomes but can't remember where it is.

Candlekeep High: The Baldur's Gate cast goes to prom

On the "misconceptions" thread we were discussing with @nano and @kidcarnival what a highschool or college would look like with the Baldur's Gate cast :D It was a lot of fun, but it should be its own thread so here it is.

I'd love to hear more suggestions and, even better, alternative fun places we can put the cast of our favorite rpg. I think this game is fun and challenging :)

Here we go (from myself, KidCarnival and Nano.... please give your own suggestions!)

Edwin would be the eccentric university professor who is respected by his peers for his academic accomplishments, but hated for his arrogance and bragging about them

Quayle would be the professor who thinks he is well respected by his peers for his academic accomplishments, but actually is not.

Imoen would be the 10th grade English Literature teacher who still has her students make dioramas and colorful posters for "book reports".

Ajantis would be the strict math teacher who has trouble controlling unruly classes despite being an aspiring authoritarian. "Com'on guys, Helm wouldn't like that"

Garrick would be the incompetent art teacher.

Minsc would be the overly-enthusiastic gym teacher and football coach (Boo takes care of the details)

Yoshimo is the mysterious, super-suave foreign exchange student.

Eldoth would be the 23 year old senior who's the campus weed dealer and dates freshman girls.

Skie would be the bratty freshman cheerleader captain who expects good grades simply for showing up.

Jaheira could be a biology teacher who insists on equality for parasites and gives bad grades for students who don't "respect all of nature's children equally". Radical hippie biology teacher.

Khalid would be the substitute teacher that gets no respect.

Coran would be the young "cool" teacher that all the girls have a crush on.

Safana would be the hot English teacher that all the guys fawn over.

Alora would be the typical overly-friendly lunchlady. All the students love her, though they rarely seem to get the correct change back.

Yeslick would be the cook in the cafeteria. Many students try to steal his beer.

Neera would be the crazy chemistry teacher who's experiments always make the fire alarm go off.

Kivan would be the grumpy janitor that scares all the freshman.

Jan would be the shop teacher with all the hilarious stories that students hang out with during lunch breaks, and runs a black market in junk food

Nalia would be the sociology major who takes her subject super seriously and insists on everything being politically correct. She's the president of half the after-school activities and founder of half the clubs.

Aerie would be the teacher's pet who always makes the Honor Roll. She is in all of Nalia's clubs.

Hexxat is the goth girl who sits in the back of the class. She makes Aerie uncomfortable.

Haer-Dalis would be the Hipster Art Student.

Xzar would be the crazy goth kid who shows up with slipknot shirts and facepaint.

Monty would be in detention.... always.

Korgan is the gruff, over-aggressive hall monitor/security guard. The school has been sued on multiple occasions, but can't get rid of him because Kagain is his Union Agent.

Valygar is the more responsible security guard. Usually proctors tests and watches Monty in the detention hall.

Cernd is the campus groundskeeper, who students come to seeking wise counsel on life decisions and relationship advice.

Dorn is the bad-boy senior who comes to school on a Harley. You don't wanna take him home to your mother.

Shar-teel would be the star athlete who resents all the guys because there isn't a girl's football team and she's stuck playing a no-contact sport like volleyball. Majors in Women's Studies and says she hates Dorn (lotsa sexual tension).

Dynaheir is the head of the language department. Often at odds with Edwin.

Viconia would be the punk girl with tons of piercings who loves to say shocking things to get a rise out of people and keeps getting sent home because her shirt has something rude.

Rasaad would be the Ethics and Philosophy teacher who leads the afterschool Yoga Club. Nalia is president.

Mazzy would be the star student that they put on the front of all the newsletters.

Faldorn would be an "alternative" teacher who tries to convince parents to sign up the kids for "Politics explained by Pottery" and "Expressionistic Math in Dance".

Kagain would be the controversial Business Law professor that concerned parents worry about at the Parent-Teacher Confrences.

Keldorn is the concerned parent at the Parent-Teacher Conferences. He often inquires about Kagain's curriculum to the assistant principle.

Tiax would be the evil assistant principle who thinks he is the real principle.

Xan would be the real principle who's the only one who realizes the students are all doomed :)

Koveras is the mysterious recent transfer student... and the adventure begins

Please add your own! Or your own ideas :)

If they X, would you still....?

Would you still....

1: Dual class from a Fighter if they fixed the dual-class proficiency bug?
Ex-Fighters retain whatever proficiencies they had originally, but all proficiency points they gain in future are as members of their new class, 1 pip and class specific weapons only.

2: Use Fighter Kits if they fixed the Kit proficiency bug?
Unless an actual kit ability, only pure unkitted Fighters may put more than 2 pips into a weapon type (with the exception of Two Weapon Fighting).

3: Still use Mislead if they fixed the invisibility bug?
Mislead currently allows you to remain utterly undetectable and untargetable if your mislead clone isn't around to be dispelled or destroyed, rather than behaving like Improved Invisibility when you attack.

4: Play a Ranger/Cleric if they fixed the spellcasting bug?
Ranger/Clerics currently get all Cleric and all Druid spells, rather than a limited number of druid spells up to level 3.

5: Dual Wield if they introduced a Shield that added +1 Attack? Or fixed the bug such that extra Attacks apply to the weapon that grants them?
Currently all weapons that add attacks do so to the main hand, meaning dual wielding such weapons gives you more attacks of your primary (and usually best) weapon.

Feel free to answer, or add your own.

First time playing Baldur's Gate 1 and I'm wondering when you can have conversations with your party members. For example, Imoen. Right now, I barely started the game. I had just finished talking to some old wizard wearing red robes. I'm assuming there is no Normandy or camp-site where you can take breaks in between main missions and just talk to people, developing romances and whatnot.
