Hexat romance beginning (spoilers)

Hi everybody, I just finished the quest where one gets the shroud and delivered to Cabrina afterwards. I've told Hexxat that I would have goals for both of us... I'm kinda nervous so far because there was no actual romance chatter yet, have I missed it? Can I check somehow? When does it start?

Dorn is seriously attracted to me.

So Dorn won't stop telling me I'm an attractive man. I mean, it's flattering and all but holy crap this guy just won't quit. Seriously, I end the conversation by turning him down but he just keeps coming on to me. It's annoying, the first time this happened was in the middle of the skinner quest (bad timing dude) and I managed to stop it by sending him to another floor, but now he's doing it again. I'm worried, beyond the annoying aspect of it, that it's messing up his quest line. Anyone have any help to offer?

Hexxat (First Impressions) (And Spoilers, duh! ;p)
I almost didn't post this since others already have praised the devs/writers for coming up with this truly unique and unexpected experience. I happened to experience Hexxat for the first time in a multiplayer game, and going into it I was confident I'd really like the character (even if I tend to play good/neutral).

Well, when you first meet Hexxat (and if you were like me, expecting something totally bad axe/awesome), you will have a confused look on your face.

"What the heck is this monotone, mind funked character? Surely this cannot be Hexxat!"

And of course the sound she makes when she is hit or injured, almost sounds Microsoft Sammish, leaving me even more perplexed and confused! My friend and I both were slack jawed and for a moment, disappointed...

Then we enter the first tomb with her and things get - interesting fast. I am still stumbling over the monotone voice of hers and left wondering: Okay, what the heck is going on here? There is something very interesting here, waiting for me in the shadows, but I have yet to pick up on it!

That is where the genius lies. It leaves you VERY unprepared for the awesome that is coming, bearing down on you like a charging locomotive.

When Hexxat's voice emerges from the monotone upon meeting--Hexxat?! at the end of the quest, that is when my eyes went wide and I became ever so bushy tailed. "Holy heck!" I cried, "DID YOU SEE HER NAME!?" I exclaimed to my friend, "SHE IS HEXXAT TO--HOLY HECK SHE JUST KILLED HEXXAT--1.0!!"

My friend and I were both jumping out of our seats, both in terror, shock, and absolute surprise.

The devs/writers had caught us completely off guard and - discovering that Hexxat 2.0 is actually a playable vampire character with very vampire-like qualities (the respite idea is incredibly unique and, well, just plain awesome), is something I hadn't expected. Sure, we can get a tiefling in this game to join our party, but really, a tiefling isn't TERRIBLY unique (compared to a vampire) when you get down to it, especially since you can make tieflings in other D&D games.
Bottom line - you guys are brilliant with the writing/story telling aspect. I might be disappointed in some things so far, and the many bugs I've stumbled on, but if those can be resolved, you have yourselves a very solid and history making game right here. I will be telling all of my friends (oh wait, I already have :P). I will be singing Beamdog's praise to everyone I know (...wait, already doing that too...).

Well, kudos to you, my hat's off to the lot of you! I look forward to the rest of the story and cannot wait to see what else you have in store for me :)

Unless you used mods he was probably the most useless character in BG2. I was wondering if something about that changed.

Dorn Romance bug? (BGII:EE spoilers)

We sparred, he said I was attractive, eventually had sex, but then he said I was a poor leader and attacked me. He changed his mind and rejoined (actually didn't leave the party), but he hasn't mentioned the romance since. The variable DORNROMANCEACTIVE is set at 1, and DORNLOVETALKS is 17. Is everything alright or is this a bug? Does he always complain like that? My reputation was actually really low at the time.

I AM the law.

Skip BG1:EE and just play BG2:EE? Please Help!

Skip BG1:EE? Opinions Please!

Folks I really need your help. A friend bought BG1:EE a few months ago in a Steam sale but hasn’t played it yet. Now that BG2:EE has been released he has been ‘advised’ by one of his friends not to bother with BG1 and just start straight into BG2 because it is ‘easier’ to learn for someone that hasn’t played that type of rpg. I’ve tried to tell him that this is not the case especially since both games now share the same variant of the engine and interface.

It’s my contention that it is much simpler to start with BG1 and start a character from level 1 where you can pick up the basics at a slower pace than starting at a much higher level with no knowledge of class, abilities or DnD rules.

My main argument however is that as an rpg by missing out on the first chapter of the saga you are spoiling the true beauty of the series – the engaging story. I was met with the retort that “I wouldn't question her rpg knowledge”

Can I please have some opinions on this? Am I right or am I wrong?

Why I am unhappy with Hexxat *spoiler*

!Do not read any further if you don't know about the truth of Hexxat!

Like many of you I have been eagerly waiting for the release of Baldurs Gate 2 EE. One of the many reasons why I was excited was the new NPC Hexxat. Since the release of the first couple of screenshots I was hoping the new character would be as great as the Dorn, Rasaad and Neera. When I actually found Hexxat in the Copper Coronet I was pleasantly surprised that by the first second Hexxat was intriguing and that the soundset amazing. Questions like "What happend to her and may I be able to help her?" were running through my mind. And like many of you I ventured directly to the graveyard district to solve the mystery of my new dazed companion.

The truth of Hexxat was surprising and I applauded the developers for that kind of revelation. But after quite some time the twist left a bitter taste. Don't get me wrong on this now. I don't want to say that the "real" Hexxat is bad or what so ever. Like every NPC in Baldurs Gate 2 there are some aspects I like (unique origin, being exotic with an intriguing accent) and some aspects I don't like (the least baldurized portrait, micromanagement with the cloak and no kit). My point is I liked the "fake" Hexxat simply more and I wasn't able to chose.

Some may say there is no reason to be unhappy. The twist offered you a equal or "better" NPC. The stats of the "real" Hexxat are equal (or better, but since I don't like to fumble with the cloak all the time it doesn't mean anything to me) with some unique abilities. But since Baldurs Gate 2 is not solely a game about the gameplay but much more about the roleplay I felt spoiled. The "fake" Hexxat may be worse than the "real" Hexxat but since I decided to help a helpless and confused women in a dirty inn and I was adventuring with her through the world of Baldurs Gate 2 and I was forced to watch her die without any option to interfere; I would have liked to keep her and not exchange her for a totally new character. Isn't it the case that a huge part of the plot of Baldurs Gate 2 evolves around rescuing one of your companions (keep in mind: when Imoen is actually abducted you don't know about the fact that she is your sister. At this point she is simply a companion in many ways like the "fake" Hexxat)? But for the freedom of Imoen I oppose Irenicus while the death of an other companion is totally meaningless?

But since the developer of Baldurs Gate EE have shown in the past that they are willing to improve the game beyond mere patching an fixing by implementing a whole new character I raise the hope that in the future I will be able to save her. I do not want a mod made by fans to "fix" this. I would very much appreciate a "fix" by the developers. And from a totally uninformed perspective it seems to me that this would be way easier than creating a totally new character like you guys did with Baeloth.

What do you guys think? Do you feel the same or are you totally indifferent to the fate of the "fake" Hexxat?

(as English is not my native language I sincerely apologized for any mistakes or misspelling)

The B Party

In 1369DR a crack adventuring party was sent to prison by a mage for reasons unclear. These adventurers promptly escaped from a maximum security dungeon to the Athkatla underground. Today, still wanted by the mage, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if they randomly burst into your house looting it while asking you questions, maybe you can hire the Bhaalspawn Party.

Is it safe to start playing BG2 EE?

I would like to ask those brave souls who are already playing BG2 EE, is it safe to play BG2 EE yet, or are the bugs at the start of release bad enough to warrant waiting for the bug fix patch?

also anyone know if there is a BG2 EE multiple romance mod which includes neera and hexxat ready yet?
and would the old BG2 tweaks mod work with BG2 EE?

Romance in BGII:EE

I'd really be interested in knowing about how to activate the multi-romance options in BGII:EE ... I'm returning to my beloved game after a 10 year absence and everything is new to me! But I don't want to have to play multiple characters just to see how the romances develop.

Is there a romance available for Hexxat?
Or Neera?
Or a way to romance 2 or more of the NPCs without ruining it for one of them?

Question about Rasaad's questline (spoilers)

Okay, so I kind of rushed to do the new characters' quests as soon as I got them because I was curious to see the new content. Problem is, at the end of Rasaad's questline he...
leaves the party and apparently won't rejoin until ToB. I'm only on chapter 3 and wanted to play through SoA with him, so I'm thinking about loading an earlier save and doing the Heretic Temple later on. Question is...
...if I put off finishing his quest, will he eventually leave the party like other NPCs (Korgan, Hexxat, etc) or can I just put it off indefinitely?

For the love of Bhaal, please restore the "Default" script.

It's no secret that the A.I. in BG:EE has been a sore point since release, but 1.2 fixed a lot of the issues. However, there are definitely still some kinks to iron out, and the same is true for BG2:EE.

For me the biggest issue is that none of the scripts work as well as the standard BG2 "Default" script. This was basically the same as "Standard attack" is now, except that you could rely on a character to actually do what you told them, and not worry about them suddenly charging of into battle.

It's especially annoying when playing a spellcaster. Sometimes you can instruct your character to cast a spell, but while waiting for the cooldown from the previous spell to expire, someone fires an arrow at you. This causes the spellcaster to disregard any previous order and engage the assailant with preferred weapon (previously he would also rush them despite being ranged).

This is also apparent with fighters. They tend to change targets when being attacked by multiple opponents. Even walking from A to B can be interrupted if an enemy appears.

I want a script that will allow an idle character to defend himself and party (just with weapon held), but not cause him to abort direct instructions from me. This is standard in vanilla BG1&2, and i want i back!

I haven't created a bug report as there are many already and surely this is among them, but with BG2:EE you have a lot more spellcasting to manage, and having my mages disregard my orders is becoming a real pain.

Oh, and disabling party A.I is really not a "solution" as I don't want micro every single encounter.
