These two are the only ones that I could recover online (the rest are her older works, and they dont come close to this quality). The artist is Sylvia Koerner, but sadly her homepage is either broken or closed down:

Am i the only one bored with BG:EE atm?

I don't know if it's me only, but atm i'm feeling that is a pain to play BG:EE, i can't even see myself finshing a single playthrough, what to speak about all the five i intent before the release of BG2:EE. I was always a fan of BG2 more than BG, but the level of uninterest i'm developing for BG:EE is starting to scare me a bit.

Just feel the need of share this.

Phrases stuck in your head?

Do you have any phrases or sounds from BG 1,2 that are stuck in your head?

Currently mine are "No one crosses the Shadow Thieves and lives!" and the planetar's "I shall prevail!"

And I haven't played for months, probably almost a year now.

I finished Durlags Tower for the first time (Spoiler Alert)

First thing I tried was destroying the mirror. The demon knight (every time) was killed by all the fiends that came out. It was difficult but I managed to destroy the fiends too after many attempts. In my other reloads I tried killing him without the mirror but I would fail every time somehow.

I was disappointed to discover that there is 'ending xp reward' for clearing the tower and because I couldn't kill the demon knight with my party I didn't get the xp for killing him.

What I have learned from this experience are the following three things:

1) It really does make a difference if you don't have a cleric or a druid in the party.

2) When dealing with one bad-ass enemy, it helps to summon a bunch of little enemies to distract him while you hit him with missile weapons. I had forgotten this lesson from BG2.

3) Pathfinding SUCKS in Durlag's tower. Everywhere else I've gone I rarely have issues (including in other dungeons) but in Durlag's Tower my peeps feel obligated to go the wrong direction to get into trouble.

Why I am furious:

Hi everyone!

First of all, I am completely aware that everything I am about to say is said before in different posts but writing to a forum followed by developpers of the game is the good and the only way to express my feelings about BGEE and the developpers.

I waited for the game impatiently after the first announcement. I preordered the game for PC and bought myself an iPad to be able to play my alltime favorite on the go.

Then the launch is delayed. It's ok. It's ok because I prefer a good gameplay experience without issues. Then the game is released, I installed it and began my first gameplay immediately. And the first time I realised that the game is a disaster is when I saw the typos even in tooltips of the interface. If you played the game from the date it was launched I don't need to remind you many many other bugs we all encountered.
Finally after the long delays, iOS version of the game is launched. I paid for it because I was a fool to think that I could be able to play my favorite game whereever I want. I even accepted the fact that it shares the same bugs with PC versions. BUT NO. It has a unique bug THAT ISN'T FIXED EVEN TODAY. When you cast AoE spells, the framerate drops down and the game becomes impossible to play. And when asked, the developpers said something like they have to rewrite some blahblah to fix that issue. I can't believe the un-professionalism behind the fact that the developpers launched a game with this serious bug. The other option is they didn't even try to cast a AoE spell before they released the game on iOS. I don't know which one is worst.

I don't even want to talk about stopping the sales for a period of time or promised Android version which is never even made the surface. These are other examples of unprofessionalism.

Now nearly a year has passed over the launch and we are still waiting for a patch that will fix the issues. By the way Trent Oster, on his twitter account, has said that the patch comes in midseptember and we are in 23 september; still no word from the patch or its beta (this is another ridiculous subject I won't enter).

I don't find you (the developers) honest. I think you pretend to be honest and communicative by writing on the forum, giving some default answers to the questions, saying you are sorry too about the issues. No, I don't think you are. Making mistakes is totally ok, but not fullfilling even the lowest expectations of the people who pays you is not honest.

Finally, i know that there will be some arguments to prove me wrong from other BG lovers on this forum. If I am wrong on some points I will gladly accept it. But before contradicting just think for a moment if you are really satisfied from this whole BGEE process and then I will gladly read your arguments against my thoughts.
I am not a native speaker, sorry for any language related mistakes. Thanks for reading.

Berserker's Rage

Ok, is anyone else experiencing problems with Berserker's Rage? Meaning, that no matter what difficulty you set the game at, even at full health, at level 1, it kills you. I have no mods installed and have changed the difficulty around and I still die as soon as it wears off, even though my character should go from 29/29 hp to 14/14hp.

BG 2: EE should have FIVE NPC's...but it says four...(SPOILER!)

"Four New Party Members - Bundled with the PC and Mac versions and available as DLC for iPad and Android, four new characters can join you on your journey. At the behest of his dark patron, Dorn Il-Khan plunders and defiles the Sword Coast. Hunted by Red Wizards, Neera the Wild Mage evades and disrupts the Thayans at every turn. Exercising his growing combat mastery, the monk Rasaad yn Bashir leaves his former allies to hunt the dark figure that corrupted his brother. A thief in service to a mysterious master seeks powerful artifacts from across the globe. Recruit them, use their powers, and uncover over 30 new locations."

What about Baeloth? Please don't introduce an awesome NPC then inexplicably remove him from the sequel! Is he going to be included? Can anyone on the team clarify on this matter?

Is PnP accuracy important?

$

I know what some of you think about this, but I'm wondering which way the board as a whole is leaning. Is it important for Baldur's Gate to be accurate to 2nd Edition Pen and Paper D&D? Obviously right now the game isn't PnP accurate in a number of ways, and at least some of those ways are bad. I'd like you to Ignore that, if you can. I'm not asking whether you think the current implementation is perfect. I'm asking whether you think the best way to improve the game and fix its current problems is by implementing PnP rules in as strict a fashion as possible.

Now let's see what people think.

Do you play BG:EE with scaled or non-scaled GUI?

I wonder which of these GUI settings is more preferred among players here. Scaled or non-scaled. Feel free to explain your preference.

Do you want all the bugs/exploits/glitches fixed forever and for good? Or not? And why?

$

Some people use to exploit their games hard. Be it an xp loophole, the export-import trick, the item duplication, the money trick, the endless summoned army in 1, the 5xplanetars in 2, whatever used to exist and make certain players happy and most modern players want fixed, nerfed and obliterated. Some people will go so far as to avoid getting the game, if too many fixes are involved, especially to things that they liked back in the day, or made their strategies more varied and powerful (like the planetar army).

So, out of curiosity, i want to make a poll. Numbers do not lie. We have two teams; one is the MMO/PnP mindset, nerf/balance/limit everything, and the other the powergamers/cheesy gamers/people who want cheat-like things without actually cheating. Choose sides and please, by all means, bother to drop a line or two, in order to present your opinion. Also, if you are hardcore, mention first and foremost. By hardcore, i mean those who will not buy the upcoming game if certain things get fixed, or those who will not buy the upcoming game if certain things DON'T get fixed. Fight!

Cyric Temples?

Are there any citadels in the Moonsea/Cormanthor/Dalelands/Thar region that have temples to Cyric? His followers took over the Zhentil Keep shortly after Bane's death so I'm curious to know where they might have arisen from.

Should Shadowdancer's abilities stay the same?

$

It's my first attempt to arrange a poll but this is a subject I cannot give the go-by.

A Shadowdancer kit has been added to the game with the latest patch. Many (myself included) started to use him at once. I very much appreciate this kit has finally appeared in BG.

Currently a Shadowdancer has the following features.

May not wear armor heavier than studded leather.
May not equip shields larger than bucklers
May only use the following weapons: long sword, short sword, katana, scimitar, dagger, club, quarterstaff, crossbow, shortbow, dart, sling.
May only become Proficient (one slot) in any weapon class.
May only become Proficient (one slot) in any fighting style.
May only distribute 15 points per level (30 at level 1) in thieving abilities: Open Locks, Pick Pockets, Find Traps, Move Silently, Hide in Shadows, Detect Illusions.
May use Backstab ability for increased damage
Level 1-9: x2
Level 9+: x3
Hide in Plain Sight: A shadowdancer may hide in shadows, even when being observed.
Can cast Shadowstep 1x/day for every 3 levels
Slippery mind: +1 bonus to Saving Throws
Hit Dice: d6

The most controversial decision regarding this kit is probably his ability to become invisible as soon as he hit someone with a backstab attack and became visible without any time required to cooldown. The only exception is when he fails to hide in shadows.

I like this feature the most. For me, it has changed the gameplay as a thief drastically - it alone enhances this game as I like to play with stealthy characters.

For years we had to use the same tactics with backstabbers: hit > run > hide. With some knack and practice it's possible to find a place at any area where an enemy looses you from his sight for a second at least. In dungeons this is hardly a problem while outdoors there're at least one hurdle in any area. You just have to retreat, walk in circles, change directions and you'll have a chance. After you gain Boots of Speed this becomes much more easier but it's possible even without them if your enemy has a standard speed.

The system as it is now gives you a variety in tactics: if you've hid after the attack, you attack again and if you haven't hid after the attack you should retreat and hide elsewhere. The feature to hide after an attack is the main trait of this kit.

In my opinion, his low backstab multipliers (max x3 for the entire BG2)*, a small number of points available to distribute at the start and at each levelling up, inability to set traps, a chance that hiding fails (especially in the light) together make up for an excellent feature to use sneak attacks and chain backstabs.

I've fallen in love with this style as soon as I tried it for the first time.

But it turns out this is not a single point of view. Also, there appeaps to be some propositions for a patch. So I've decided to make a poll which probably can help to understand whether this kit has to stay the same or not.

I'm wondering what everyone else thinks?

*Now there's a bug about his multipliers in BG1 but it will be changed soon and won't make it to BG2:EE anyway.

Totemic Druid Spirit Animals

Could someone please link me a reference table to the abilities of the four spirit animals that can be summoned by a totemic druid?

I've tried several searches to no avail.

Why is this very basic information so hard to find?

I am, of course, interested in the stat tables for the Enhanced Edition spirit animals, not the past versions.

Think there will be something for Dorn Khan in BG:EII(Spoilers)

$

I came to think about this yesterday will there be some weapon for Dorn Khan to put him on pair with the other paladins, since he doubtfully would be able to use Holy Avenger I assume in BG: E2 seeing as if I remember right its alignment restricted to. I just wonder if he will get his own powerful weapon or if it will become possible to Corrupt the holy avenger to become a Unholy Avenger instead. Seeing as that weapon would alone by itself make other paladins able to use it far more preferable to Dorn Khan. Any thoughts on this? or has this already been talk over at the DEVs table?

will I still need SCS for post-patch BGEE or BG2EE (AI only)?

$
0
0
I only play no-reload games without powergaming, so the SCS mod, which to me is absolutely indispensable, boils down to largely:
- AI improvements
- some refined spells; especially meta-magic spells targeting through invisibility. (Otherwise you are DEAD once an SCS-improved mage has a MGoI up!) + re-balanced Breach (it works on Liches etc.)

(I do not use much of the improved encounters or the everyone-precast-all-protections components.)

Will these basic SCS components be a part of BGEE and BG2EE?

I would imagine the rest should remain a mod, but these enhancements are absolute necessities for the suspension of disbelief in a Forgotten Realms setting.

Spells!

So I've played Baldur's Gate II almost exclusively as a spellcaster for near on three years now, so i have a fair bit of experience with magic. So, hear are my suggestions/pointless ranty opinions on it.

*Stoneskin scales too well. Make it cap at 8 skins @ level 16 and only apply to +3 or lower. Introduce a "Magical Ward" spell at level 8 that protects against +4 or lower and doesn't cap in the number of skins you can accumulate.

*No (useful) element spells at higher levels! There should be Improved Fireball around level 8, Lightening Apocolypse level 9, etc. You get the idea.

*There needs to be a Greater Magic Missile. If the animations in BG2: EE will be anything like Icewind Dale II then all the better. Level 5, 1 missile every 5 levels, 3d3+5 per missile. Obviously tweak the numbers around if you like but you get the idea.

*Quadrupple the price of Robe of Vecna but have useful lower-level robes, since the ones at the moment are pretty awful. Increased casting time, +10% damage to elemental/death robes.

*The current wizardry rings are pretty crappy atm. Buff the current rings to make them more useful, also at least one high-tier magic ring granting bonus high level slots and reduced casting time.

*Greater elemental spheres, castable at higher levels, that give a meaningful damage resistance and deal decent damage.

*Minor weaken magic resistance. Even if it's only 1% per level, you need something at the lower end to help with yuan-ti et al.

I'm sure there will be more as and when i think about it. Feedback and critisism welcome!

Which Evil Alignment Do You Prefer to Play?

$

This is the first of a series of polls to see how significant alignment tendencies are for us in role playing our PCs (and NPCs). While "messier," tendencies provide both complexity and subtlety to the standard nine alignment matrix. On the other hand, they can also add unnecessary tedium to the game.

The Good and Neutral alignment tendency polls may be found here:
Which Good Alignment Do You Prefer to Play?
Which Neutral Alignment Do You Prefer to Play?

Instructions: From the list below, choose the Evil alignment you most enjoy playing.

*I didn't include Lawful Evil (TN) or Chaotic Evil (TN) because there are only 10 poll options. Feel free to indicate this in the comments if you prefer to play one of those alignments. There is an option in the poll for Neutral alignments that allows you to choose True Neutral with a tendency toward one of the four absolute alignments.

**I started with the Evil alignments because I'm fond of playing Evil PCs/parties and thought I might as well be true to the alignment and act in self-interest.) ^ ^
