Do NOT steal from Tethtoril

I was just trying out a new char and went to Tethtoril for the scroll. Since I also encountered the bug, he didn't give it to me, so I tried pickpocketing it from him. I failed, but Tethtoril didn't go hostile. Tried once more, failed again, so I gave it up. I was just starting to walk back to the inn, when suddenly, out of nowhere, a lightning struck me, which of course one hitted my 9 HP PC...
After reloading I checked it more times, and Tethtoril does indeed cast the spell. I'm quite sure many others picked this up before me. But I just thought I'll try and help those people who, like me, haven't known this before.

So all in all: beware of Tethtoril! The guy is secretly a badass druid/mage... :)

Ranger/Druid in the cards?

I know some of you follow the Devs a lot closer than me. Simple question: did they ever mention the possibility of implementing Ranger/Druid?

Do developers keep work on BG-EE/BG2-EE now ?

We all know contractual issue now , but base on some team members' comment ,

It looks like this issue will be solved someday ,

Can we expect there are couple new features had added into next patch after issue be closed ,

I mean this case may takes couple months for solve it , in this period developers still work something ? or all the people stop work to wait the final conclusion come out ?

Your favorite class?

Hello everyone! I don't know if there's a similar or exactly-like-this-one poll out there (I couldn't find one), but anyway... which class is your absolute favorite and why? If it's a specific kit, please state which one.

Edit: If it's a dual- or multiclass... then I'm sorry, I totally forgot about them. ._.

I'll start.

My favorite class is easily the paladin, despite all of its cons. There are several reasons for this: for one, I like the whole "holy knight" aspect of it. I think being a warrior-priest servant of a chosen deity... well, sounds bloody awesome. Secondly, I've always liked being the good guy. And paladins... well, you know. Thirdly, I think is fun to rp as one, even if I find it a bit challenging at times. I mean nowadays I have little to no trouble avoiding Lawful Stupid territory (thank you, Book of Exalted Deeds).

But when Imoen wants to start looting the bodies of our fallen enemies (or even locations long-forgotten)... or when my charname falls in love with Viconia... or when my charname has to tackle the whole affair with the Shadow Thieves and Bodhi's vampires... or when my charname needs to sneak into a drow city disguised as one of them... Yeah. At times like that, it's not easy to be a paladin, I'll tell ya. Not even a slightly unconventional one.

Even so, I've always loved this class and I probably always will!

How about you guys? :)

How am I supposed to advance in this game?

I am roleplaying my way through the game and one decision was to go with Xzar to Naskhrel (did I get that right). Now I am just trying to do something while coming out of the haze that the recent event in my life put me in. So I tried investigating the mine, found a kobold that killed half of my party before I killed him. I barely defeated the wardogs in the warehouse. How am I supposed to advance in the game as the mines are clearly too tough for me.

My difficulty slider is in middle (core rules).

Transfer from BG EE to BG 2 (Portraits and items)

I have just completed BG EE and I'm now trying to transfer my Charname straight to BG 2. I haven't seen a guide about how to do it exactly, but I just copied the Final Save folder from BG EE into BG 2 Saves and imported via Saved Games.

So whilst the import did work in terms of transfering my character's stats and xp, his portrait no longer works, presumably cos BG 2 has a different sizing system compared to EE.

So... looking at the files within the Final Save folder, there are picture files for each of my party members (All custom). To make the portraits work in BG 2, do I just edit the pictures in the game save, or do I need to create a new 'portraits' folder in BG 2 as well?

Also, I know you are meant to lose all your items between BG 1 and BG 2... however I saw a guide that says you should keep your golden pantaloons and 3 items of choice on your character for the final battle... what's that about? I saw no options to keep any items when BG EE ended...

4 Member Party advice

Assuming that one wanted to run through BGEE and then (most likely) Vanilla BG2 all the way to ToB, would this be a good 4 member party for the BGEE portion?

1. Zeno (the PC) - Wild Mage - CG
2. Imoen - Thief > Mage - NG [Would probably dual at level 6]
3. Viconia - Cleric - NE
4. Shar-Teel - Fighter > Thief - CE [Would dual at level 6/7]

[I would try to ensure that Imo switched out of thief at roughly the same time that Shar switched to a thief.]

Alternative:
a. Keep Imoen as Thief all the way through BG1
b. Keep Shar-Teel as fighter or use Kagain insead

Or just go for a more good-inclined party with
c. Ajantis or Kivan as the main warrior

Positions 1, 2, and 3 are non-negotiable. I just need an interesting warrior for the final slot (and preferably not Coran, whom I like a lot, but whom I've played way too often).

Viconia dead?

I swapped viconia for Yeslick in the cloakwood mines, thought she would get out of there or something , then I flooeded the mines and cant find her now.

1. is she gone for good?
2. is she still in BG2?

I left that cleric ring on her, thats what bug me the most.

Hoarding

What is the largest amount of SOLID GOLD you have ever HOARDED in BG series?

I am about to finish Irenicus and my stash is around 120 000gp, though the hoarded riches in the barrel in the Adventurer's Mart are worth another cca forty thousand.

I would have never had so much left if I hadn't been playing a duo run though.

The most ridiculous stats you have rolled for a Baldur's Gate character?

$

I remember my first full play through of Baldurs's Gate after three attempts I rolled some amazing stats for a Paladin. Which is easier to do on a Paladin because you always get the class requirement minimum ie you will have a min Charisma 17, but despite that I managed:

Strength: 18/00
Dexterity: 18
Constitution: 18
Intelligence: 11
Wisdom: 16
Charisma: 18

Which in turn meant that thanks to all the stat boosting tomes I imported into BGII looking like this:

Strength: 19
Dexterity: 19
Constitution: 19
Intelligence: 12
Wisdom: 18 (There were two wisdom boosting tomes if you know where to look!)
Charisma: 19

Question is what are the best stats you've managed to roll, and how long did it take you? I'd also be curious to know what are the crappiest stats anyone has managed to finish the game on?

Using all the NPCs

I'm on a project to use all the NPCs to complete BGEE, but I have some left over that I need to coordinate into teams. Here's who's left

Eldoth
Skie
Alora
Montaron
Xzar
Tiax
Isra [mod] (cavalier)

I've only completed the game 3 times, but the rest of the NPCs are in teams that I've gotten about half way with and will eventually finish with.

So what I need to know is how do I put the rest into teams and what PCs should I roll. I already have these PCs live at moment and I don't want anything too similar, but playing SCS I also need a properly balanced group (I'm also using the convenient locations component so keep that in mind.

Priest of Lathander
Avenger
Wizard Slayer
Mage/Thief
Kensai
Fighter/Thief

Your challenge then, make 2 groups with the unused NPCs and suggest a PC for both (that ideally isn't too similar to anything I've already played). You can also use NPCs I've already used (to fill out the groups) and for NPCs like Alora, who should be used till I find her?

Best Thief Build for Backstabbing/Melee?

$

I know this a BG:EE forum, but I am playing BGT. This forums seems more active than the ones I use to frequent for BG2.

Anyhow, my favorite class is a Fighter -> Druid (Kensai or Berserker). I am playing the game again and I have been trying a Gnome F/I (Lvl 4/4 right now or thereabouts). I was getting kind of bored and thinking of trying athief build. This would be for a BGT run through the whole series.

I remember a lot of buzz about Kensai -> Thief. However, how much would Kensai suck in BG1 portion? I'd probably dual at lvl9. How are they at melee? Great at backstabbing no doubt, but after that . . . I am sure with UAI much better, but that is way off.

So, what would be a good dual class build for a thief strong in backstabbing but still able to hold his own in melee?

Why did the Bhaal-symbol change in ToB?

In BG and BG2 we hade the original symbol: A skull with glowing eyes surrounded by the tears of Bhaal.

But after you have visited hell it all changes...

In Throne of Bhaal the tears have been changed to a claw that grips the skull.

Why this change without an explanation?

Anybody who knows?

How exactly do I back stab?

Do I need to hide in shadows first? Or simply be behind the enemy. It seems as though my thief rarely if ever gets the back stabbing bonus.

Gathering all the NPCs

So I have a personal little fun project in mind for a playthrough that I'm undertaking, and it entails gathering all, or nearly all of the NPCs in one location. Probably some mansion that my Lawful Evil character ends up ... acquiring ... one way or the other. Anyway, I want to know if anybody could tell me how all the NPCs react to getting kicked out of the party. In BGII things were quite simple, you could tell them to stay where you booted 'em out or tell them to head to the Copper Coronet. In BG1 however, they leave and automatically stay put ... or at least most of them. I know some of them actually get really pissed off at you for kicking them out, and straight up leave the gaming space forever. If I recall correctly, Edwin does this. I would imagine a few others do however, so I want to know if anyone could help me with this.

Thanks!

After six years of hard work, it's finally here. I have so much respect for the BGR project team for pulling through and finishing this instead of abandoning it like so many others would have. They're my new favorite modders now.

Talk about it with other players here:

Also, for multiclassing your companions without being restricted to one class (To make Ajantis a Paladin/Divine Champion/Annointed Knight, for example), do this:

-Open the NWN2 Toolset (NWN2ToolsetLauncher.exe)
-Click on Plugins at the top -> Campaign Editor
-Select BGR
-In the box at the right, Under 'Behavior', click 'AllowUnrestrictedLevelUp' and change it to 'True.'
-Click 'Save Campaign' above the box, and you're finished.

Kensai > BGEE2

$

Well first of all, I think this is not really a good time to be thinking about BGEE2, but let us put that aside for now...

Well, the thing is, I have never played Baldur's Gate before, I started with Neverwinter Nights 1... then 2... then Dragon Age... etc so I'm not one of the old school, sorry, and I was needing help about the Kensai dual-classing, or not.

I already read some guides, I know it is a blaphemy to not be a fighter-mage and in fact I want to but since melee damage/accuracy (two weapon fighting) is my top priority, I'd like to know 2 things:

1 - How much worse would I be at melee if I dual-class Kensai into Mage? (No I don't want to know good things just the bad things, and please if there is a bad thing about it, tell me)

2 - If I decide to dual-class, what is the best level to maximize melee damage/accuracy? (Is it possible to 20/20?)

I don't mind being a glass canon, neither I care about being useful or having a good build, I really want the maximun damage output with kensai, and if the losses are not that big I will dual-class into mage. My concern is that I'm a 3rd edition player and I don't know how dual-class THAC0 (BAB?) works in Baldur's Gate, also I don't know if Kensai's bonuses still work after level 20, and other minor things.

I don't want to be rude but I'm used to people in forums suggesting good builds when this is definetly what I don't want. It happens often, I want to do something stupid, people try to enlighten me about it and the topic loses its purpose since it becomes a way for people to try to convince me to do what I don't want to and I get no help at all so I'm just trying to prevent this years old story. It is not a polite way to ask for help but it is the best I can to prevent the previously described situations.
