Account Name, what's your story?

My account name I've used across gaming and first was used on a gaming server for Warcraft 2 called Heat.net. The names that I wanted to use were always taken, so I wanted to create a new nickname to use that I would like. The name Booster, a la Mario RPG, was what I decided I would try next. Then that was taken. Just changed the name by one letter and made it Boaster. At the time, I don't know why, but it was a good name and felt right.

It's not that I toot my own horn. It's just a name. Although it's no surprise when I talk a little smack when I beat someone in a game under this name :D

Should Dynaheir wear a mask?

I have a question to anyone who knows something about Rashemen lore. As I played MoTB some time ago, I remember that every witch there had a mask, which had some cultural significance. So, should Dynaheir, being a witch of Rashemen, wear one? Or does she only have to deserve it somehow?

I was thinking of creating it, using the circlet animation (not exactly a mask, but the closest thing to it from all available options), but I want to know first if she should wear it at all...

Quick question: Is Throne of Bhaal going to be released with BGII:EE, or will it be delayed slightly? TotSC was released at the same time, but ToB is a much bigger expansion, so I wasn't sure. Anyone know?

Formerly Alternate NPC and PC portraits... because I'm bored with no BG:EE to play. :P

Just as it says on the [former] title. I suffer for want of my game, so I'll make sure you'll suffer, you'll ALL suffer, MWAHHAHAHHA! And I'll do so with 'art'. As I am an avid fan of the BG2 portrait style, I'm trying for getting as close to it as I can, but, yeah, it's not exactly easy, and I'm no artist, so, you've been warned. I'm going to keep posting more pictures as I make 'em. Here is one new and a few you might have already seen posted on a different thread (put here just for the sake of completion). If after I'm done with all the BG1 NPC portraits BG:EE still isn't out, I'm gonna scar you all even more with my pet project - pictures of what would they all look like after putting on that innocent looking, unidentified magical girdle. ]:D
I'll start gently:

Alternate Viconia - features changed to fit more with what Jaheira's and Aerie's pics established as elvish features. Skin color changed because I like black drows better than blue drows (although from the description someone posted, the drow skin does have a purple or blue tone to it, so the original pic isn't wrong, per se, it just isn't to my taste). Cloak and sky color changed just because. :) Original to the left, tweaked version to the right, for sake of easy comparison.

My fav PC, Karrion - glued together from at least five different pictures - hopefully you won't be able see any of Frankenstain's Monster in him. ;)

Nathaniel, from the mod. I like this mod, but none of the available pictures were quite appealing enough for me, so I messed with the one I liked best and did this:

Lady Malica, the evil halfling. If you care to insult her, do remember - she has darts hidden all over her person, AND her teeth are level with your groin. ]:)
BG1picture edited to get rid of the green light, alter her expression and trim the ears a bit, then a lot of other stuff added. (From the character creation screen, halflings are supposed to 'look mostly like small humans', and it was said elsewhere on the board that they do not, in fact, have pointy ears, but... I like pointy ears! So she has them).
Original to the left, tweaked version to the right, for sake of easy comparison.

For those of you who want to use any of my portraits: I uploaded them to @TiaxRulesAll dropbox. (Read his thread http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/8413/bgee-custom-portraits-dropbox-lets-compile-them-all-here-1300-sets-now-with-soundsets-section/p1 to learn how to get them). Folder with my pics is named 'Portraits (Syntia13)'. Below you'll find a chart with subtitled portraits - if you like one, go to the aforementioned dropbox and search the aforementioned folder for 3 files with names corresponding with the subtitle of your chosen pic. Have fun! :)

Feature Request for BG3: Choose your edition (1st, 2nd, 3e, 3.5e, 4th etc)

So there's going to be no way to satisfy even 50% of the potential player base when it comes to deciding on an edition for BG3.

So, let it be a choice when you start a new game. Maybe just the most popular editions (say, AD&D 2nd, 3.5e and whatever is the current D&D - are they at 5th now?).

Incidentally I've stared at the screen for a few minutes but I don't seem to have an option to add a poll, maybe I'm having a blonde moment though. I'd hoped to add a poll to demonstrate that there is a broad range of views on what edition BG3 should be.

It would certainly increase replayability of BG3 if you could change the edition. Obviously it would be significant amount of coding but I just don't see any other way to do the game justice otherwise.

Killing Drizzt without Cheese

How do I do it?

I assumed it would be trivial-ish by endgame, but he basically kills everyone in one hit and I hit him maybe once for 5 damage during the course of all of that. He saves to all spells that are savable, mostly.

Is it just a matter of resets, or is there a win-button, where "win-button" does not mean "surround him with removed party members to trap him, then sling him to death."

is there an easy way to duel wield/bow

One thing that continues to annoy me is that i want to duel wield, but it makes using a bow also require going into the inventory and removing the second weapon. I am surprised that it wasn't made easier with enhanced edition, so maybe it is impossible, though I hear you could do this in icewind dale. Anyway, is there anything I don't know of that could make this easier, like hotkeys to remove the second weapon and equip bow? And please overhaul, if it can be done, include it in the next update.

New characters or not?

Hello everybody, I just want to have your opinion about something I thought. It's about the Baldur's Gate's characters. I guess at least once, when you made a new party, you allready had on mind the characters who will join your party until the end of the game.

For example, allright, I'm a warrior neutral good, so I'm gonna take Khalid and Jaheira (for its healing spells), Imoen (thief abilities), Minsc (good fighter) and Dynaheir (wizard spells). Then in BG2 I'm gonna replace Khalid and Dynaheir by Valygar and Aerie..... well it's an example but I guess it happens a lot when you allready know the game and depending on your alignment, you know what will be your team.

The thing is that I hardly believe they will replace the original characters because of their stories (the best example is Imoen because she is linked with the main character) but do you think that it could be more interesting to have several new characters in this game?

Question on character generation

I have been playing and importing (from black pits) many characters. I see a lot of these coming back in the "character generation" list when starting a new game. My question is, when does a character end up in this list? Coz i don't see my last exported black pits character in there, but i do see those few pre-generated ones and many of my own..
Also, is there a way to maintain (remove entries from) this list on iPad? I would like to clean the whole list or at least only keep a favorite few...

BG2 Question - Watcher's Keep

Hi all,

I'm currently playing through BG2 for the first time (after finishing BGEE I didn't want to wait for BGEE2). Now, I'm in chapter 4 and my characters are already almost maxed outin XP. I was wondering, when is the best time to tackle Watcher's Keep - in BG2 or in TOB? Is the difficulty of the dungeon ramped up in TOB? For which game is the loot better? Thank you.

Alternate Parties!

Now that people have played through the game innumerable times, I thought it might be fun to start suggesting some unique new combinations people can try to make their next playthrough something a bit different.

I'll start:

It's worth noting beforehand that it's preferable to install a mod that gives Chapter 5 NPCs earlier locations.


Good v2.0

PC (preferably a Wizard)
Kivan
Ajantis
Coran
Alora
Yeslick

All the good-aligned NPCs who didn't make the cut! In between Kivan, Coran and Alora we're talking some serious ranged damage here (especially if you've kitted out Kivan as an Archer!). Yeslick is kind of a pain because IIRC most NPC location mods don't move him so he's not an option until later in the game. Branwen makes a decent substitution, though. The real weakness here is that your two front-liners, Yeslick and Ajantis, have both got pitiful DEX for Warriors, and you've only got one pair of Gauntlets to fix that.


Diminutive Domination

PC (of a short race)
Tiax
Quayle
Yeslick
Kagain
Alora/Montaron

They're short and they hate each other. What more is there to ask for? Tiax/Quayle and Yeslick/Kagain are both couples in need of some serious relationship counselling. This is not a devastatingly powerful party, but it's a lot of fun. The logical choice for a PC here, I think, is a CE Halfling Berserker with GM in Slings.


Powergamer's Worst Nightmare

PC (preferably a Wizard Slayer or Beastmaster. Or a triple-class)
Quayle
Faldorn
Eldoth
Garrick
Skie

With no frontline fighters, very little capacity for high-level spells, and mediocre stats all around, this party does not have a lot of weight to it. Skie is actually probably the best thief in the game after Imoen, but she's in there because Eldoth is. That being said, this party certainly has some strong points (Faldorn, while a terrible fighter and a victim of the general mediocrity of Druids in BG1, has got nice WIS, and Garrick's not a bad archer), and beating the game in SCS on Impossible would make for good bragging rights.



Any ideas from you guys?

I tried to leave out the new NPCs because I'm assuming that everyone's already using them all the time.

Do you use the Cursed Berserking +3 Two Handed Sword?

It being cursed always scared me away from using it, but tonight I gave it to Minsc and let him rip. I think it is adding a bit more difficulty to the game which I am enjoying.

So I am wondering, does anyone else use this sword, and if so what strategy do you use to prevent it from all going horribly wrong?

Arkion and corpse quest

I got the quest to get a corpse from the sewers, BUT, I can't find any! I didn't enter where I was told to, would that make a difference? I did kill a bunch of phase spiders, Ogre Mage. Could see flies buzzing around but nothing like a corpse. Even did the 'cheat' by hitting Tab key. Nothing. Been all over that section of the sewers. Help anyone? Thanks.

Unable to re-recruit Aerie

I dimissed Aerie whilst she was equipped with the staff of magi and cloak of non detection. Whenever I enter the circus tent she turns invisble. I have tried dispel and detect invisibility but she that doesnt work, if I use an area attack spell she appears but attacks me. How can I resolve this? Can shadowkeeper be used to remove an item from the game? If that is the case how do I do this? If anyone can help i would appreciate it!!

Watcher's Keep fluff question.

So I've been wanting to go to Watcher's Keep. Is there a breadcrumb trail quest deal in any parts of BG II? What would the story motivation be for going there? I ask because I always feel like a terrible friend for leaving Imoen behind for so long. ;___;
