Drow portraits
Although I am very impressed by much of the art that I have seen on the forums, especially by artastrophe and the like, I am afraid that most drow art/portraits, even that found via google or on deviantart, just doesn't capture how I envision in my mind the dark elves of the forgotten realms.
Most dark elf art is either too cartoony, way too world of warcraft (total blegh!), or too sexualized. There is so much excellent art and portraits out there for high elves and other white elves, but when it comes to the evil drow of the realms, I am just underwhelmed.
As a side note, I have found more male drow art that appeals to my tastes than female drow art, which is sad because female drow are so much more awesomazerful.

Minsc's Berserk Ability
Hi, I just thought I'd share this, because I only just found out about it.
For years, I've always avoided using Minsc's berserk ability, because it used to cause him to go out of player control and to attack party members.
On a hunch, I just activated it in BG:EE 2.0, and lo and behold, it functions normally, retaining player control, and working just like a player character berserker would.
Holy crap! Minsc's usefulness rating just went up about three points in my book. He can now tank demi-liches and elder orbs with no fear of Imprisonment, for example. He can berserk during any mage encounter and be immune to any mind-affecting crap they can do to him. That is so *awesome*!
I'm curious, does anyone know if this is new to 2.0, or has it been in the EE's all along, and I just didn't know about it?

What's your cheapest/cheesiest tactic?
Having played BG through again and wiping the chessboard in Durlag's Tower out with a few well placed fireballs, it made me wonder what cheesy tactics I don't know about.
Also those horrible Greater Wyverns are susceptible to trying to chase the first character they see through a closed door and will ignore other characters pelting them with ranged weapons...

*Minor Spoilers* Dissapointed that BG1 Chars don't get fully imported into SOD
Howdy, so I had a final party of myself, Imoen Khalid, Jaheira, Minsc and Dnyaheir seeing as they are traditionally seen as the canon party. However I used the three Wisdom tomes on Dynaheir to make her a Cleric / Invoker for the final battle and to give the party a cleric which as the canon party, is somewhat lacking.
When I first started SoD and my party was imported straight over, I was thrilled. However upon finishing the initial area and after being reunited with former companions. It seems that the characters have been reset.

Raising Charname - Minimal Reload Thread
Hello, since we have an official no-reload thread managed by @Ygramul , I thought we could use an official minimal reload thread to go along with it. This thread will be for people like me who lose their no-reload status, but would like to continue sharing their runs.
The main spirit of a good minimal reload is that, first, you only reload if Charname dies. Under no other circumstance can you reload and still consider it a minimal reload. If you think there should be an exception to this rule, it's okay, but just explain that you reloaded and why.
The second element of a good minimal reload, is that you keep a counter at the bottom of your posts of how many times you have reloaded, and preferably keep a list of why Charname died and where.
The last thing is that you should share your game build, that is, tell what mods you have if any, and give full disclosure about difficulty settings and the like.
So, those are the "rules", but they are flexible as long as you explain your reasoning why you "bent" or "broke" the "rules".
So, without further ado, here is my current run.
I am using version 2.0 without any mods, Core Rules.
I first lost my no-reload status during Neera's encounter. It has been changed and re-scripted to make it much more difficult. I kind of got sore and made some sour-grapes posts about that in the no-reload thread. Sorry about that. I've calmed down and accepted that I am playing a BG game that has a lot of changes in it that I don't know about yet, and some dying to those changes is inevitable.
After I decided to keep playing and not accept that first death as legitimate, I now have had Charname die without any question of the fairness of the death. I was just plain careless and stupid. I tried to tank an ettercap in a "you have been waylaid..." encounter in the Cloakwood. I got poisoned. I tried to use Bhaalspawn Slow Poison, and it got interrupted. I then tried to drink an antidote, but my aura wasn't clear, so it was far too late. End of no-reload, no argument possible.![;)]( ";)")
One thing I really like about 2.0 is that you can see in a single screenshot of the quest journal exactly where I am in the game now without my having to explain it.

In Soviet Amn you do not seek quests; quests seek YOU!
When you start chapter 2 in BG2 you are literally bombed by new quests all at once only because you are... there. Nalia walks right towards you in the Copper Coronet and so the guy from Trademeet once you go to the gates. Delon from Umar usually spawns very soon. Then the first time you go outside Athkatla (usually for Nalia) you trigger the Harpers quest for the docks (which also can trigger Yoshimo to tell you to go to Renal).
Ok, you can choose the order you prefer, but it's strange to have an agenda already filled with tons of mustdo-things from the very first moment. You are trying to find quests after all.

Need some good halfling names
I'm playing a halfling assassin and for the life of me I can't come up with a cool sounding name. A good name really helps me role play. So far most of the halfling names I've come across sound corny or stupid. Does anyone have any suggestions for a male halfling rogue type name?

Edwin would be the eccentric university professor who is respected by his peers for his academic accomplishments, but hated for his arrogance and bragging about them

Imoen would be the 10th grade English Literature teacher who still has her students make dioramas and colorful posters for "book reports".
Ajantis would be the strict math teacher who has trouble controlling unruly classes despite being an aspiring authoritarian. "Com'on guys, Helm wouldn't like that"
Garrick would be the incompetent art teacher.
Minsc would be the overly-enthusiastic gym teacher and football coach (Boo takes care of the details)
Yoshimo is the mysterious, super-suave foreign exchange student.
Eldoth would be the 23 year old senior who's the campus weed dealer and dates freshman girls.
Skie would be the bratty freshman cheerleader captain who expects good grades simply for showing up.
Jaheira could be a biology teacher who insists on equality for parasites and gives bad grades for students who don't "respect all of nature's children equally". Radical hippie biology teacher.
Khalid would be the substitute teacher that gets no respect.
Coran would be the young "cool" teacher that all the girls have a crush on.
Safana would be the hot English teacher that all the guys fawn over.
Alora would be the typical overly-friendly lunchlady. All the students love her, though they rarely seem to get the correct change back.
Yeslick would be the cook in the cafeteria. Many students try to steal his beer.
Neera would be the crazy chemistry teacher who's experiments always make the fire alarm go off.
Kivan would be the grumpy janitor that scares all the freshman.

Korgan is the gruff, over-aggressive hall monitor/security guard. The school has been sued on multiple occasions, but can't get rid of him because Kagain is his Union Representative.

Cernd is the campus groundskeeper, who students come to seeking wise counsel on life decisions and relationship advice.
Dorn is the bad-boy senior who comes to school on a Harley. You don't wanna take him home to your mother.
Shar-teel would be the star athlete who resents all the guys because there isn't a girl's football team and she's stuck playing a no-contact sport like volleyball. Majors in Women's Studies and says she hates Dorn (lotsa sexual tension).

Faldorn would be an "alternative" teacher who tries to convince parents to sign up the kids for "Politics explained by Pottery" and "Expressionistic Math in Dance".
Kagain would be the controversial Business Law professor that concerned parents worry about at the Parent-Teacher Confrences.

Custom Portrait Issue
So I've got a portrait I want to use. I've saved it as BMP, 210x130 resolution. Put in the My Documents\BG-EE\portraits folder.
It shows up as an option, and appears to work as a Large picture on the character sheet page. BUT the small size party icon on the right hand side of the screen is missing. It's just a funny outline with a question mark.
I've been all over the custom portrait threads and can't see a reason for this. I even tried doing a M and S version just in case, and that doesn't work either. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

New character sprites for the next game
This is mainly for Beamdog. Please make new improved character sprites for the next game, and do unique sprites for half-orc, elf etc.

So the new achievements....
Firstly I just wanna say YAY achievements!!
This is something I've always kind of wanted in the EE games, well they were something I wanted until I actually looked at them. Most are fine, like finish the game solo or do a new hard mode run or whatever but some are just really really stupid.
Like finish the game in storymode, why would I ever do that???
I'm never going to do a storymode run, I can't actually think of something more boring than storymode. I could be complaining about nothing and this one could be possibly be unlocked by finishing the game on any of the rea, I mean standard difficulties or maybe a quick final boss reload and difficulty change would suffice.
So maybe that ones fine but the finish the game with a full dead party one, just doesn't make any sense. To me that translates as finish the game as poorly as you possibly can, like win but really suck while you're doing it. So get the final boss to near death and then let him kill all of the party besides CHARNAME, sounds pretty terrible and pointless to me.
