How does the Barbarian compare to Berserker/standard Fighter?
I've been bouncing back and forth between playing a Barbarian or a Berserker/normal Fighter (Fighter/Thief too I guess), and I was just wondering what peoples opinion of the Barbarian was. Honestly, it doesn't really look that amazing to me when compared to a Berserker. They both get rage, though it looks like the Barbs rage is a bit better because of no winding. The armor restriction doesn't really bother me too much but the proficiency limit seems like a lot to give up for a bit extra HP/movement and some physical resist in later levels.
What do you guys think?

Killing Hexxat (in Mist Form)
How is this done exactly? Playing a multiplayer game where the (explicit) wench ran away from my friend and I for being goodie two-shoes, taking a lot of nice stuff with her :P So we went to Copper Cornet to kill her and get our crap back. Now she's following us around in her mist form, and is immune to death, even in the middle of the day :O I have her casque in my inventory too which is awesome lol. Still have Dragonmire's Respite too. I have wooden stakes in my inventory as well but since she is stuck in mist form there is little we can do.
Any help? :3

Unsure how to port portraits/sound sets from bg 1 ee.
Ok so I'm utterly disappointed they didn't bother to keep the additional sound sets and portraits from BG 1 EE. I am pretty sure there is a way to do this but I can't seem to figure out where the actual files are. If anyone has a clue where this is and how to port it over please let me know!

Dual Wielding questions
I've got an elven fighter/thief that is dual wielding various long swords in the main hand and kundane in the off hand. Is it worth putting two points into short swords since it will only affect my off hand weapon? I've also have belm, Usano's Blade, and spectral brand. These swords seem to be better than any of the long swords I have. Should I maybe roll with Usano's and belm instead? Just trying to figure out which combinations are most efficient weapon and proficiency-wise. Thanks.

What are the mechanics for Turn Undead?
Does anybody know exactly how this works or how reliable it is for high-level undead? I'm familiar with the PnP implementation from 2e, but it seems like Baldur's Gate doesn't go by that... I've had things happen while using it that shouldn't be possible (tried to turn multiple Shadows and chunked some, while others were unaffected- PnP is either all-or-nothing for a specific enemy type). I'm trying to gauge whether its worth trying against groups of Skeleton Warriors and Greater Mummies and such.

Can the protagonist suffer morale failure?
I've never seen it happen. Horror and confusion and all that from spells, sure, but I've never seen Khalid-mode kick in due to damage or party member death. I assume it's possible since the Cavalier kit spesifically states an immunity to it but... has anyone ever seen it happen? Does a particular stat need to be low for the chance to ramp up or something?

BG1:EE vs. BG2:EE
It's simple. Which Enhanced Edition game (not the original content) you like more or which one is better in your opinion (New EE NPCs, quests, items, performance etc.).
If you are a fan of both EE series, please make a hard decision and choose one game you prefer more.
Don't vote if you don't like the EE games at all or if you're dissapointed with the EE editions.

your least played class?
What is your least played class? :) (EDIT - least played class for your main character)
Here is a link to a poll on your favourite class:

Be nice if we could select multiple choices, but this is almost as good. ^_^
I had to merge a few classes together to meet the poll limit. To make the full poll, I'd need, um, lucky 13? :)
Sorry the fighter and barbarian are together.
Sorry the paladin and blackguard are together.
And sorry the mage and wild mage are together.

Strategy against spellcasters ? (and Neera spoilers)
How do you know which protections a caster has ? And how do you remove them ? I use Pierce magic when he has some anti-magic globe and Breach when he has a blob under him. Is Remove Magic useful ?
The console doesn't give enough info I feel. Also, I can't see which spell an enemy is starting to cast. I used to be able to in the original.
Also, is Shadow Door worth it ? I mean, why not cast Imp Invisibility ?

What are cold iron and silver weapons?
Monkeying around with DLTCEP I see that I can set weapons to be either cold iron, silver, or both.
I know one boss in TotSC needs a silver weapon to kill him, but I had assumed that that was just a scripted property or whatever of those particular weapons.
So what do silver and cold iron do? How are they different? And what weapons have these properties?

Using only the EE and 2EE NPCs, which tag along should I bring
I was reading a topic the other day from a couple months ago, trying to determine which PC class would be best running through 2EE with the new NPCs (Dorn, Neera, Rasaad, Hexxat) and many people noted that you'd probably want a true neutral PC, likely druid, or bring along a front line tanker for the group and find a local medic to join you.
Well it got me to thinking, I've never actually played a druid and rarely bring a druid with me. While I am doing a canon party with Jaheria, for the most part I avoid them. Thus I decided that I'd bring a druid, likely an Avenger with me to bring them all together.
The question then becomes, which NPC should I bring along for BGEE to round out the party. We don't have Hexxat, but we have Baeloth instead. That leaves me 2 arcane casters, and 2 melee who are better suited for dealing damage rather than taking it. While being the local healbot is fine, that I means I need a thief of some sort, but that also rules out the fact that I do need someone to get hit on.
Help me Forum-wan Kenobis. You're my only hope!
(Suggesting the possibility of other druid kits is also allowed. I'd considered totemic or shapeshifter, but the thought of a flame striking druidic crusader is nice. Also I considered a Berserker dualed druid, but I feel like I'd be cheating myself some here.

Petrification facts?
I'm curious to know some details about petrification...
When petrified/turned to stone, does a character still age? Does their equipment become petrified too? (i.e. could someone chip away at the stone and find some gems)

Need help from computer wizzes! using another monitor
Sorry I don't really know where to put this discussion so the mods can move it to wherever is appropriate.
Here is my problem. I've been waiting for months to have the time to play BG2ee but now that the time is finally here (insert excited Boo squeak) my laptop decides to be a jerk and the screen keeps flashing from dark to bright, and is now really really dark. This has been an ongoing on/off electrical problem that I need to fix when I return home next month.
I was hoping to use my older laptop as a display to play the game on, yet I have tried and failed to do this. Keep in mind my computer intelligence is about that of a barbarian who has just fought an Illithid.
What I want to do is use my old laptop as a screen for my new laptop, which has BG2EE installed (i even installed mods for the short period my computer seemed "fixed"). I have a HDMI cable, but don't know how to set it up. I've tried putting it in both ends to connect the two computers, but when i try to extend display nothing happens. Can anyone help me? I'd be super appreciative
Thanks you everybody!

Dual Wielding: Greater Whirlwind Attack vs. Improved Haste.
I'm trying to decide which is better for my PC (dual wielding blackguard). He can either take Greater Whirlwind multiple times or rely on Improved Haste via special equipment/mages casting it on him in the party.
Greater Whirlwind HLA
+ sets attacks per round to 10 without the need for Belm/Kundane (allows the use of Defender of East Haven in the offhand for some juicy resistances)
- very short duration (1 round)
Improved Haste Spell
+ much longer duration
+ doubles number of attacks
- requires Belm/Kundane in the offhand to reach 10 attacks per round
Which do you prefer on your fighters?

Beamdog Shouldn't Make BG3 - They Should Crowd Fund Their Own Game
In my humble opinion Baldur's Gate 3 should be a 2D isometric type game, just like BG and BG2 are. Project Eternity and Planescape Tides of Numenera have shown just how amazing this approach can look in the 2010s. And by taking a more simplistic approach to the visuals, the developer can devote the core of its development time to building a huge, immersive world, a rich and deep story and well fleshed out, memorable characters. In other words, this approach allows for BG3 to be developed in a way that honors BG and BG2.
We just have one small, *teeny-weeny* problem...!
Atari (and likely any larger publisher) would never let the game be developed this way. With them, the core of the budget would most likely go into pricey voice acting using big name actors, building a complex 3D engine where tons of time is spent making sure that we can see the fear in the orc's eye before he gets singed by a fireball spell. And with so much effort put on such details, things like game content, character development and a lot of other stuff is certain to get cut. Hell, if Neverwinter is any indication we may not even get all of the proper base classes included, but just a small subset. And almost certainly, the name Baldur's Gate 3 will be wholly undeserved and out of place on whatever final product is released.
So with that said, my personal view is that the best way to make Baldur's Gate 3 is to use the crowd funding model. Okay, sure, that means Beamdog doesn't get to call it Baldur's Gate 3 -- but really, what's in a name, right? It also means that the D&D ruleset & universe couldn't be used, but honestly, PC games made using this IP haven't been good quality since the Infinity Engine days (Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 are reasonable exception to this rule, granted, and Temple of Elemental Evil is excellent is many regards too, but lacking in many others). And the trend only seems to be getting worse.
I'd prefer to see Beamdog use the name recognition they are gaining with the BGEE project, and then create their own IP and engine to create a game that truly follows the tradition of Baldur's Gate and the Infinity Engine games. Obsidian and nXile have figured out that this is the way to go. I would love to see Beamdog go this route as well, rather than creating what I'm convinced would otherwise be a major disappointment with Atari at the helm.
My 2 copper. What do you all think?

All you wanted to know about the “Adventure Y”
Now with BG2:EE released and we all know about Hexxat at last it’s time to anticipate something new.
So I think the discussion about the “Adventure Y” is going to be the next hit.
There’ve been several threads on this forum about this topic but I will try to gather EVERY piece of information and update it when something new is known. I hope @TvrtkoSvrdlar and others who started topics about the Adventure Y in the past excuse me ;)
A little bit of history first.

SH: Listening to the #BGEE Adventure Y main theme on repeat while doing paperwork. Never has something so mundane felt so heroic & adventurous.
TO: I do the same. It can become a liability when the #bgee Adventure Y theme is going hard and you are trying to do contracts.
Later PhillipDaigle tweeted that the Adventure Y can be set at or near Boareskyr Bridge, accidentally the place where Cyric killed Bhaal.
Dee in November 2012 said (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/comment/142403/#Comment_142403) the "Adventure Y" hasn't been finished yet, and will likely be released post-ship.
Here (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/comment/369710/#Comment_369710) is said the Adventure Y has been confirmed for after BGE2:EE (release). This post (9 October 2013) is promoted by LiamEsler.
Basically there were no news at all after that.
All of a sudden PhillipDaigle here on the 30th of November 2013(http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/comment/418768/#Comment_418768) said something that can be interpreted as:
1) it’s wrong to think that the Adventure Y is planned for after BG2:EE, or
2) it’s wrong to think that the Adventure Y in not going to be released in the next patch, or
3) it’s wrong to think that the Adventure Y is set after BG2:EE.
We know elminster (a Beta Tester) (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/comment/346026/#Comment_346026) said the Adventure Y will cost money although in the past Tanthalas (also a Beta Tester, Private Beta Moderator) (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/comment/14040/#Comment_14040) had thought about the Adventure Y as a part of the new content for EE and not a DLC.
So, we know the Adventure Y is tied with the Bhaalspawn plot and has its own theme.
Taking into account those words about money and realizing the Adventure Y has not been definitely released before BG2:EE it seems reasonable to agree with the 3rd variant and say the Adventure Y is set somewhere before the story of the Bhaalspawn ends.
Moreover, I think it’s safe to conclude from PhillipDaigle’s post the Adventure Y is meant to be content for BG:EE, not BG2:EE.
There’s an idea that the Adventure Y takes place after Sarevok's defeat and shreds some light on those “circumstances much darker than anyone would have thought” under which the Bhaalspawn left for Amn. So this adventure would probably take place between the two games and end with the Bhaalspawn getting captured by Irenicus.
It’s interesting to take into account that TrentOster - after looking (6 September 2013) at a feature request of an interlude chapter that narrates the happenings between Sarevok's ending and the capture of the Bhaalspawn by Irenicus - said “Sounds kind of adventurey. Could be a fun concept.” (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/comment/350159/#Comment_350159)
One can interpret “adventurey” as “adventure y”.
So, right now it's everything from what has been confirmed.

Stumped on how damage is being calculated (I know how Thaco and AC works) (Solved)
So I really can't figure out how damage is being handled. I have been reading various posts and articles about damage calculation and none of them mention anything about what I am experiencing. Basically during a fight what I will see in the combat log is this:
Khalid-Attacks Skeleton
Khalid-Attack Roll 13+1=14: Hit
Khalid did 4 damage to skeleton (8-4)
So what is happening on that last line? My roll hits and I roll my dmg die, which in this case is an 8. Why is the skeleton getting 4 dmg reduced from the dmg roll? If I understand AC correctly armor is just to determine if a roll hits and doesnt have anything to do with mitigation. Can someone explain this to me? I cant find anything about this online.

Need Help with the CluaConsole - Playhouse (Bard Stronghold) - Spoilers
http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/27244/bard-stronghold-the-playhouse-obviously-contains-spoilers
As seen from this bug report that I filed, I ran into an unusual bug with my bard character.
For some reason, I wasn't granted the deed to the playhouse after completing the relevant quest, and as such I was rendered unable to gain the bard stronghold. Using the cluaconsole or EEkeeper to give myself the deed doesn't fix this. For some reason, the deed-giver must have assumed I already had a stronghold or that my character wasn't a bard.
Due to the fact that I had a somewhat similar issue with my paladin character and the relevant stronghold that was fixable through use of the cluaconsole, I figured some clua sharks out there might be able to help me out.
Thanks in advance.
