The first Two Baldur's Gate games, along with their expansions, were a complete disaster to anyone who did not know anything about D&D.
The interface was a catastrophe, and you were given extremely cryptic on screen messages, that were pretty much next to impossible to make heads or tails out of, that could only be read once, then told good luck with it. Then expected to know how to play. The other problem was the community. Whenever something was brought up about all the problems with the total and utter lack of instructions on how to do anything, all they did was ridicule you and call you a troll. So you were left with an even bigger attitude caused by this total and utter lack of informative game and it's community.
So I hope the makers of this game actually stepped back and realized that regardless if 99.9% of players managed to do things on their own, that the only thing that truly matters, is making sure people actually know how to play they game they made and that every small little detail for how to play (Even if someone doesn't THINK it's important) It still needs to be included for the very small handful of players who need explicitly detailed information.
If you have to run your hand across the keyboard in order to cast a spell, all because it didn't break down anything about the set up of it and all that other stuff, then it's not explained how to play. Especially after running your hand across the keyboard and not knowing what you did.
So players that want to complain that this type of tutorial shouldn't or does not belong in the game have no business deciding what someone else needs for instructions and realize that just because they understand something doesn't mean everyone else is going to or should just barbecue they do. This type of tutorial should be a selectable option off of the main menu of the game right from the start, that way it doesn't interfere with players wanting to play or that already know how to play, and players that needs the crucial need to know information will know it's there in explicit step by step detail.
If something has to be clicked then it needs a video showing what it's talking about, if something needs to be set up, then an example in video form with narration showing and explaining how to set it up needs to be there. Selecting, Setting, casting spells needs a complete video tutorial with having the player actually go ahead and doing it along with how to rest and anything else in great detail needs to be explained. Without that type of instruction for a game like this, the game becomes unplayable for anyone that is not familiar with D&D.
To sum it up...Someone who knows nothing about video games should be able to install this game and read everything and know how to play it without having to look anything up in a manual or Google it.
Players like to throw the famous statement of "OH YOU WANT THE GAME TO HOLD YOUR HAND"
Anyone who thinks like this or says anything like that needs to be shot for not knowing the difference between holding one's hand and explaining how to use all of it's game play basics which are needed to know in order to be able to play.
This is not holding your hand (Anyone who says this, should have their head smashed off the keyboard over and over until the understand the concept of having the games basics explained, is not holding anyone's hands, it's teaching them how to play.
