Level 3 Spell Enchanted Weapon

It is not a spell that I actually recall using but it allows a mage to summon +3 mace, axe, long sword or short sword. These weapons are probably not the most useful or weapons one would normally associate with a typical mage or sorcerer. Would it not be better to summon something like a staff, dagger or throwing dagger? That could be in addition to the current weapons it offers to aid your party.

No doubt a dual class would be a different matter. What does PnP say?
