"Remember, remember the 30th of November..."
For some reason, the new date Trent revealed yesterday sounded familiar to me for a while, yet I couldn't understand why. But while browsing Wikipedia, I came to the realization that the date Beamdog announced... wasn't there by chance. There's apparently a fairly meaningful reason for this, besides ironing out issues and squashing bugs. So, I've come to the conclusion that they decided to delay the game because:
Baldur's Gate 1, where EVERYTHING began, was released on...
:drumroll:
...yes, you got it: November 30th 1998! It's just a way to say "Happy Birthday!" to our beloved series! =)

Which makes me wonder: Will BG2:EE be released on September 24th 2013?
